I too have always interpreted Sonic's tan parts to be skin because it is textured like that in every render that made the cut. '06's early renders are not relevant and the reason as to why they were declined is likely because of the furriness on Sonic's tan parts.

Of course Sonic X seems to depict Sonic's tan parts as fur in one instance but then did anyone who was animating that show stick to the model sheets?

His moustache still shouldn't really be 'human' in color scheme when he's blue and beige, it should be blue or beige, and if he's greying it shouldn't be solely concentrated on his upper lip.

Pachamac seemed to have 'facial hair' of sorts, it's just long-muzzle fur, ie how it should be done.

Does Tails hunt and kill Sonic, a Hedgehog and Cream, A rabbit despite the fact that he's a Fox? Does Jet prey on smaller birds considering he's a Hawk? Does Knuckles eat Termites considering he's an Echidna?

The answer to all of those is no, because Sonic characters do not exhibit animalistic tendencies when it comes to diet like that.

That is mere Western squeamishness and the majority of people have no qualms about eating rodents and insects.

Besides, you're conflating anthro animals with mundane animals, mundane animals do exist in the Sonic verse.

All of the Sonic characters are actually one feet tall, so they take special hormones to increase their size. Knuckles forgot to take his before the photo session, so they had to hope no one would notice. That, or the photographer was experimenting with forced perspective.

I'm not sure if these are questions, more like curiosity. After doing a bit of searching around here, I've noticed some leftover/cut out content that was originally meant to be in the game. I'm curious as to what these are.

-In Shadow the Hedgehog when Sonic made a weird laugh after him and Shadow saw the Black Comet. I heard members say something about an "original script". I'm guessing the story we ended up with is a bit different to what was originally planned?

-In Sonic 06 there was a few cut voices like Sonic saying Shadow was in trouble and he had to help him. I'm guessing they were originally meant to team up at one point?

I like looking into stuff like this because it's interesting. I love reading into "what could have been" and other mysteries surrounding cut content from Sonic games!

Was playing Generations yesterday. In the Casino Night pinball stage you get one Chaos Emerald light per each time you win something in the slot machine. I wondered if someone here knows what happens if you get all the Chaos Emeralds on the table to light up. I got five a few times, but never managed all seven. Do you get a huge bonus? A chimesy fanfare? Or does something really boring happen? (Like all lights turn back off and you can start over. That'd kinda suck.)

While talking of pinball stages... In Sonic Adventure's Casinopolis there's this NiGHTS themed table. When you get up to the darker table with more cards and fall down, you go through a tube thingy and then you fly through a stage of sorts. There's a stonehenge-like structure in it. Sometimes a sound is played and you get a star over one of the pillars of the stone thing. What causes the stars to appear? What do you have to do to get them? And do they even do anything or are they just there?
