I've been playing Beyond Two Souls.

I'm pretty much new to the 'interactive drama action-adventure' genre.

I knew nothing about BTS when I bought it about a month ago for like £15. I thought I may as well give it a go and quickly found that I loved it. Best game I've played this year.

Graphically speaking BTS is one of the best looking PS3 games ever made. The detail on the characters faces, especially around their eyes gives off an incredibly realistic look. The motion-capture in this game is excellent as is the movement of Jodie which feels seamless. The voice acting is outstanding. Not just Ellen Page. William Dafoe is great, and Caroline Woldson delivers some truly memorable lines as young Jodie. The story is an emotion roller-coaster. Beautifully told. I've never played a game which has made me shed so many tears. Jodie sure goes through hell.

I quite like how the chapters move back and forth through Jodie's life. It cleverly throws you off balance. One minute you get a chapter with a nice peaceful ending, the next minute you end up in a chapter where Jodie is very upset and you're forced to deal with that emotion. Very few games have left me feeling so said. It can be a bit confusing at first, but you soon figure out how all the chapters fit together, and you can choose to play them in chronological order if that's what you prefer.

The design of Aiden and the gameplay that comes with him (making objects move, scaring/possessing and choking people) is a lot of fun. The KTE's are well designed and aren't too difficult to master.

I actually got all PSN trophies (100%) in this game because I enjoy replaying the story so much. Whilst it would have been nicer if some of the chapters had been flushed out more with a bit more variety with regards to alternative choices/paths, my overall experience was really positive.

BTS is expected to be one of the games made available on the upcoming 'Playstation Now Cloud Gaming' system, so I look forward to playing it on PS4. There is also a rumour that BTS is to get a directors-cut release for PS4 which will include previously cut content. Here's hoping it's true.

I know this genre isn't for everyone, but I highly recommend BTS. At the very least £15 is a bargain for a game released less than 12 months ago.

I have now moved onto Heavy Rain. I've completed one playthrough. The movement, KTE's, voice acting and dialogue is no where near as good as BTS, but it's got an interesting story. Good in parts.

I've been playing the Battlefield Hardline Beta, luckily I got in. It's good, but maybe I'm not enjoying it as much as I thought I would because I'm pretty burned out with the franchise thanks to Battlefield 4.

Have been playing Ratchet & Clank [Future]: Tools of Destruction recently and last night some more of Spy Hunter on the Vita.

Tools of Destruction has been for me a slow starter compared to the previous games and now that I'm a quarter done of the game, it is getting interesting especially after meeting Captain Blag. Graphics look beautiful, really impressed by a 7 year old game [even the back of the box says next-gen HD graphics] and the sound seem pretty good. Controls and gameplay are the same as the previous games which is one of the things that are making me enjoy the games. Did notice a company placement by the Sony I meant Zoni.. wink.png

The only problem is that the game has a sound bug and from reading online is that it is a bug in the game that wasn't spotted until the next games in the series and the developers didn't fix this with any patches. Basically the cutscenes sometimes go out of sync so the voices come after the mouths moving and sometimes a character stutters saying a li-line, it has been a little bit off putting and really noticeable (for me it was triggered when crash landed to the Lombax Ruins and encountering someone who I don't know her name yet). Apparently this bug happens on newer PS3s due to using a different disc drive so anything later than the original model (e.g. Silm, Super Silm) has this problem.

Spy Hunter I'm still enjoying and liking the game (also knowing that someone on a forum that I used to go to worked on the game), it is getting harder though and took a while to do the previous mission. Really like that it has a classic mission set up and the touch screen parts of the game seem to mix well with the traditional driving while shooting rather like the previous Spy Hunter game (the PS2/GC/Xbox game).

I've been playing Xenoblade Chronicles. I decided to get the game yesterday as soon as I saw that X is now called Xenoblade Chronicles X...so I guess it's a prequel or a sequel. Anyway, it's brilliant. My only fault with the game is that it's on the Wii, but the game does looks very nice for Wii standards.

I also got into the Destiny Alpha, so I'll be checking that out soon.

Oh fuck, I didn't notice this thread before!

At the moment I'm playing Mario Kart 8. I'm soldiering through the Mirror Cup so I can get the gold standard kart. It's pretty damn difficult, the items are on frantic mode and the AI difficulty is unforgiving.

Been replaying Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst's Story mode trying to get all the S-ranks in each chapter.  Also playing a few racing titles in my library for an article that I am working on showing how they have evolved over the years for good and bad.

So I finally best Mario & Luigi Dream Team after stalling it for SO damn long! What do I think of it?

Well, for the first M&L game I've ever played I enjoyed it very much! It's a good RPG with a nice story, really funny and well written characters and the gameplay is fun and works well, especially in the Dream sequences which were a great addition to the game. Not to mention all the emphasis on everyone's favourite Luigi, dem epic giant battles and brilliant music by the legendary Yoko Shimomura.

Despite this however, Dream Team still has its flaws. The most obvious one is that there are WAY too many tutorials, though luckily this is only in the first half of the game. Other flaws include some frustrating moments, Antasma not being a great villain (especially near the end of the game) and a final boss battle that goes on for far too long. It took me, what, half an hour to beat him? Gimme a break!

Besides that it's a very good game and I thoroughly enjoyed playing it. It also makes me want to try out the other M&L games, starting with Superstar Saga of course! Hopefully I can get that one on Wii U or find a cheap GBA cartridge online.

I give Dream Team an 8.5/10!

Man, its been a while since I posted in this topic :D!

As for what I've been playing the past month or so....Persona 4 Golden has eating much of my time (despite getting lots of other games in addition to this). Man, I looked at all the praise Golden got across the web and just stayed away from it out of some fear of not enjoying it (only played the KH's series and the Mario RPG's before this) and.....I was blown away by this blink.png!

The wonderful story, the tight combat machanics, the vivid and colorful visuals, the amount of depth within the fusion system and many social links.....this game really has it all :). I jumped in not knowing what to expect....and almost two months latter I got more than half of this games trophies, beat the main story more or less five times and got 92% of the Personas registered.....I love this game :D.

The part that really made me love this was the characters; rather than typical stereotypes you find in all JRPGs, everyone here acts like a human being. They have their weakness, lives, emotions and with the social link system you can learn much more about them and become attached to them. The story too was a huge reason why I loved this, as it kept going at a great pace and the extra content Golden adds to the base of P4 really expands things (I was shocked to learn all the stuff missing from P4....made it look empty in comparision to Golden...).

Really glad I gave this a shot and between playing through P3P and P3:FES (.....don't know how people played this originally; the 'health' system with everyone trieing out is really annoying X(), I am now a huge fan of this series and can't wait for Persona 5 :D.

Also got other games too; Sly Cooper Collection Vita, God of War Collection Vita (got if for free via PSN Glitch :D), Ys Vita, Ninja Gaden Sigma +, Maramusa Rebirth, MLB: The Show 2013 Vita, and some PSP games (Hot Shots Golf 1 and Hot Shots Tennis). They are all great fun (with the Sly Collection being the nicest surprise; it is a quality port of the PS3 Collection with each game at native res and at a steady 30FPS...hell of a lot better than the Jak Collection).

Glad the summer finally rolled in and can now play tons of games before college kicks in a few months :).

  • 2 weeks later...

Started Ace Attorney Investigations 2, but stopped playing because I wasn´t feeling it. The episode´s length drags waaaaaay too much and the story isn´t interesting enough for me to keep going. Sorry.

I´m also playing Megaman X8 *shots fired* It´s very entertaining. I´m actually doing some progress, but some stages are just bullshit (Dynasty, I´m looking at you)

I´m also playing Rewrite from time to time (A visual novel by Key), but it´s slooooooooooow. I enjoyed Little Busters a lot (same developers), and I really want to enjoy this one, but uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh.

Been playing Jak 3 a little bit and not really liking it. Story and gameplay wise it is very enjoyable but many missions feel exactly the same and the difficulty can be quite off-putting.

Also I beat Mirror's Edge yesterday and I loved it, should have beaten it ages ago.

Thanks to the Steam sale I have a crapton of games to play...Portal 2 and Alan Wake are the most recent games I've been playing. I've played both of these on the 360 but playing them on PC is so much better. Alan Wake looks gorgeous (when it's at night anyway) and Portal 2 has Community made Test Chambers, something the 360 version didn't have.

Quite a few actually since I've recently got more time but sadly not much luck.

First one is Wolfenstein: The New Order (one of the reasons why I bought it was because it was on sale plus there was a billboard nearly to where I live when it came out). It is a decently good FPS and feels more of a way back towards FPS made during the 2000s even though it has the COD control layout and perks. The levels are quite big without feeling linear as in A to B, health regeneration is only until a certain point (not all the way like many modern FPS) that also has shields due to having a health bar and what little story that I experienced seemed okay. The reason why I had to stop was a glitch that caused knife throwing not to work and since it is an ingame skill meaning that I have to start over all over again...

Then it is New Super Luigi U after nearly a year of having the game and well.. I'm not good at it even though managed to get to Layer Cake Desert miniboss before losing all my lives. It is hard though but some stages did decently without losing a life. It is also hard to describe since it is like New Super Mario Bros. U except Luigi is harder to control to where I lost 3 lives on the first enemy due to of his slippier jump.

Yesterday, went back towards Goldeneye: Rogue Agent and getting towards the half way point. Online it is considered one of the worst Bond games out there (even though Bond himself only appears in the beginning, at least for now) and personally it isn't as bad but more like a decent game that had a good idea or two that was rushed out of the door however had strong competition that made the game look worse (rather like 007 Legends). If it is by the GoldenEye name compared to other two (N64 and Reloaded), then yes but there are worser FPS games out there.  I have noticed on the Dam stage that it did seem rushed since in the first part before the tanks on the road that you do one bit then the same bit but mirrored in a different direction, plus the characters when talking use very basic sprites [Game Boyesque sprites in a 3D polygon FPS]. Plays okay and some of the stages are quite good such as the Hong Kong stage where it is large and liked the interior/bath house or the Las Vegas stage where it had variety of a reception, elevator, bar, offices, casino and tunnels (reminds me at some point to play the Rainbow Six Vegas games). Also liked after beating up someone to use them as a hostage and as a shield to protect from gunfire.

Oh and last week managed to start and finish Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty. It was okay but it was also short and not much there even though I was actually surprised that Insomniac Games knew a little bit of British culture (quid). I can think of two things wrong with the title though...

I've just beaten Ratchet & Clank 1 for the first time.

Gotta say I really enjoyed this game. The gameplay is really fun. The whole idea of collecting junk so that you can buy weapons is quite well implemented. The physics are excellent. The level design is quite entertaining. It's handy that you get to see a map of the stage, and that the map changes colour to show the routes you have already explored. It took me a while to get used to the various controls for the different weapons and the quick-select weapon menu. Easy once you know how. The gimmicks are sound for the most part, although I had some trouble when using the 'Slingshot' when trying to get over bottomless pits which resulted in me dying a lot.

The gameplay is quite tough. Your health can be decimated quickly if you just go rushing into combat or run out of ammo. So weapon/ammunition preparation is key, as is good knowledge of the level layout. As a result I died a lot and had to replay from checkpoints over and over again. That didn't really bother me though because the gameplay physics and combat is overall quite fun.

The story was simple and entertaining. The graphics are decent as is the dialogue. It has some nice humour and the whole idea of flying to different planets is neat. There aren't many bosses and they are quite straightforward, with the exception of final boss which was a fucking nightmare.

Having completed the game it's really cool that it gives you the option to start a new game and keep all the weapons/collectibles from the your previous playthrough. So it's like a 'new gameplay plus' mode. I am tempted to try and 100% it.

I slightly prefer R&C1 over Jak & Daxter 1. Both are good games but I hated the poor jumping controls/not being able to jump very far in J&D1 which hurt the gameplay. Whereas the jumping physics in R&C1 are excellent.

I also like the gimmicks where Ratchet can walk on a thin magnetic wall which would sometimes go upside down and in all different directions. The spacecraft shooting stages are easy enough.

It's just a really well made game. I'm playing it on the HD PS3 collection. So next up is Ratchet & Clank 2.

I've already played a bit of R&C2. It's feels a lot more fluid compared the the first game. The weapon menu and quick-select option is easier to use. The combat also feels more fluid. Looks like fun smile.png

I'm currently playing Arkham Asylum on PC. I have to say, I think I somewhat prefer this to Arkham City. I just feel that the story is better, though it could be that I need to play Arkham City again after I finish Asylum.

I really like Asylum though, it now probably has to be one of my favourite games of the 7th generation.

I've been playing Kingdom Hearts 1.5 on and off, but been busy with other things lately so never really had a chance to play for more than an hour or so. I'm very close to finishing the game and it'll be the first time I've ever beat Kingdom Hearts. Hopefully I'll be able to this week!

Besides that, I've also been playing Kid Icarus: Uprising and finally progressing through the story. The game is truly wonderful; wonderful music, wonderful graphics and lots of collectibles and shit but my GOD the controls suck! For someone like me, who is left handed, this game can be a pain and I actually died on one chapter because I was bumping into enemies while spinning the camera around! I'm seriously considering getting a circle pad pro now because I can't imagine what the last few chapters will be like.

-I´m playing Mega Man X right now, but I haven´t beaten any boss yet. I suck so much at Megaman games... (´・ω・`) (except for X8 it seems, I´m already at the last stage)

EDIT: Beat Chill Penguin, yay!

-I also started Super Meat Boy, but world 2 is kicking my ass too...

Still playing Xenoblade Chronicles. I'm 100 hours in now and the story is STILL going...man. Anyway, I reached a HUGE turning point in the story and I'll just say that it is now my favourite JRPG of all time. The only JRPG which can beat this game IMO is Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Being playing Lego Marvel for the past few days (after managing to beat Goldeneye: Rogue Agent and finished for now on Burnout 2) and found it to be good but a bit buggy.

Currently I am over a 1/3 done on the story and seems enjoyable. While I am aware of plenty of characters (Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, Hawkeye/Red Skull/Mandarin [thanks to Captain America and the Avengers game even though only Red Skull looked the same as that game], Mr Fantastic, Human Torch, Green Goblin, Nick Fury [based on the Samuel L. Jackson version], Venom, Magneto and some more that I know but haven't encountered yet), there are some characters that I'm not really familar with such as Maria Hill, Black Widow, Agent Coulson, Abomination, Sandman and a few others that seem interesting.  What I've mentioned being buggy was that during the Holland vs. Argentina match, I was running with the Hulk and got over the laser barrier to get a gold brick, managed to get the gold brick no problem however I was trapped since the lasers were active on the other side but managed to do the Banner->Hulk trophy. I couldn't get out so instead watched the penalty shootout. Today, it crashed on me during a cutscene with the Red Skull (it was the boss battle where I'm playing Captain America and the Human Torch). Luckily though I was aware of the game being buggy since there seems to be about 3 to 4 Lego games a year, Lego Batman 2 was also a bit buggy/crashy especially with Superman and QA bug testing seems to have declined of recent times compared to Lego Star Wars 2 that seems very stable.

Gameplay was the same as the previous Lego games that I played so I was familar with the mechanics and noticed that the Human Torch is a reskin of Superman (flying, using heat/laser the same way, cutting through gold walls/objects).

I did notice some references such as racing on a rainbow road that Human Torch said (Mario Kart, surprised since this was the PS3 version I was playing on) and a telephone booth to warp to Asgard (Doctor Who) so maybe Traveller's Tales were aware of here or just a concidence.

I've been mildly interested in the Assassin's Creed games for a while, but not enough to care about the continuity, I just like being an Assassin and killing shit, don't really care about the Animus and the modern day stuff. The only Assassin's Creed I've 100% was the first with Altair, didn't bother with 2 or 3, I got Brotherhood and played  bit of it, found it boring. But then I jumped straight to Black Flag and I'm enjoying it, even if the ship sailing is tedious as fuck, it's probably because my brig is literally underpowered since I'm still early in the game. I can't get over how huge Black Flag's overworld is with all the side shit to do, and I haven't even gotten to the underwater wreck stuff yet either.

It's pretty fun but from I remember in AC1 & Brotherhood, the little of the story I know just means the entire modern-day plot to the game just doesn't make sense to me, and it came as a shock that Desmond is uh... Dead?? So Altair and Ezio's ancestor is dead?? Oh well, so yeah playing Black Flag and it's cool, I like Edward.

One Piece: Unlimited World Red.

Oooooooooooooh man do I love this game. A very nice fit for the 3DS system. You want a nice, beat-em-up action adventure with some good challenge and side quests and stuff on the go? I recommend it.

Seriously I didn't stop playing it since last Friday halp
