Pokemon X & Y (October 2013 on 3DS) - [Now out! Go out and play it already]

It would also sort of break the game too. A lot of the trainer battles are purposely placed so you can get a ton of EXP and money. The "it's a rival" theory makes more sense.

If I remembered correctly (or not), the optional battles for the final game are only for Sky Battles.

EDIT: Yeah in fact

I know it's really tempting to believe so, but having a psychic type doesn't mean it's gonna become part-psychic. And stuff.

Of course it don't, through still, I doubt Fennekin is gonna be a Fire/Fighting this time, if it does then this be some wacky trolling from Gamefreak.

Shoot if Fennekin was just a plain Fire type like the Cyndaquill line, than that's good enough for me, I rather not have additional weaknesses, but if it does get a second typing it would likely be Psychic, Ghost or Fairy.

Weren't there the occasional optional battles in Black & White?

Not really, there was Cynthia and GAME FREAK Morimoto and the stadium trainers in Nimbasa City.

Yeah the Doctors and Nurses were optional fights.

I think they should've had the Rotation and 3 on 3 Battles optional too, as you may or may not have a full team of pokemon.

Was thinking earlier, I really hope the national dex numbered Pokemon, #777 isn't gone to waste. I'd love for it to be some how luck based or even casino-inspired. I guess we're also passing #666 as well, but since we ended near that last generation it'll probably be something like that new common bird or the caterpie of this gen or something.

It'll sure be fun when the inevitable meme about Bunnelby or whatever being the secret antichrist is beaten into the ground.

Some kind of super slot machine Pokemon for 777 would actually be really cool (more because I like casino-themed things than because I care much about Significant Numbers), but what with the total excision of Game Corners from the series... that's probably not happening.

Regarding the rumoured Fairy-type strengths and weaknesses, I'm hearing various reports from the demo that the leak was only partially correct - for instance, Fairy-type attacks aren't resisted by Fire-types or Psychic-types in the demo, contrary to the leak.  It may be that the leaker recalled incorrectly, or that their information was from a beta and that the type chart has since been rebalanced.  (Or that they were making stuff up, but apparently they've gotten too much correct for that to be likely.)  At least this'll probably be cleared up for good when the next Coro Coro comes out, as that's meant to have the full and updated type chart.

...If the first gym is Bug and the second Fairy, and Fire is strong to both, then Fennekin will have quite the early advantage.  For the past couple of generations they've had to give the Fire starter the Fighting type to get it past early Rock-type gyms.  It'll be a change to have a natural advantage rather than an artificial one.

Well, the leaker also gave some false facts intentionally to get Nintendo off their trail, so to speak. They've still gotten a lot right, though, so I suspect we'll still Fire/Psy, Grass/Dark, Water/Fight typing.

New York isn't getting it? Color me surprised, don't they have a Pokemon Store there too?

Nintendo World is pretty much an Nintendo Experience Expo every day, so it'd be useless for there to be an expo. 8P

Just letting you guys know that Serebii and the official Japanese Pokemon website have recently announced that the Pokemon X and Y soundtrack will be available around the world on iTunes November 13. This will be the first time that the video game soundtrack for a Pokemon game will be available outside of Japan. Which is good news for me, since I love the music for the Pokemon games. And I wont have to spend a lot of hard earned cash for getting the album online from another country like I had to do for the other games.

Preorder bonuses for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y

US:

Walmart

  • $5 for preorder
  • preorder cards have a nice matte finish to them, sort of a "prize" in of itself.
  • $4 towards their "VuDu" streaming service. Not sure on the details on that.
  • Walmart should have the game out at midnight
  • Cards

Target

  • $1 preorder
  • cards are plain giftcard looking things with the game's logo
  • some people are reporting that now Target is offering a Xerneas or Yveltal pin when you preorder.  They have the pins attached to the back of the preorder cards near electronics.
  • Cards ------ Pins

TRU

  • thus far they haven't even gotten in any cards for preorders. If they do, it'd be $1. Kind of fishy they haven't gotten anything yet, but they've had nice stuff in the past.

Gamestop

  • $5 preorder, no cards or anything
  • double sided poster with Xerenas/Yveltal on the front, map of Kalos on the back
  • If you preorder and purchase both, you get a History of Pokemon poster
  • Double Poster ------ History Poster

UK:

GAME: GAME is offering a Pokeball game cartridge holder with preorder.

Canada/Australia:

EB Games: EB is offering the same double sides poster US Gamestop is offering, and the Cartridge holder the UK is getting. Not sure if you guys are getting the history poster or not.

Japan:

TRU: Xerenas/Yveltal figures Pokemon Centers: Xerenas/Yveltal figures, an "Art Book" (A folder with a few pieces of artwork in them). If you preorder and purchase both, you get the figures, and a "World Art Book".

In case anyone was wondering

Of course GameStop would get the good one.

EB Games isn't any better.

As far as the U.S. retailers is concerned, Gamestop seems to have JUST the better preorder(s). I would care less for the pin.

Japan's looks good.

But EB Games get the Gamestop (minus history poster apparently?) preorder bonus and GAME's? Ooooo I would prefer that combo nicely.

Dammit, I would've really preferred the poster. The Poke Ball cart holder is cool too though.

Is it too much to ask for the figures outside of Japan? I still have my Giratina and Lugia one.

Also, it's not like I want to carry my Y cartridge in a pokeball instead of having it in my purse thingy with all my other games.
