Chronicles Glitch?

I just bought a used copy of Sonic Chronicles for the DS on Thursday and while playing the first Area (Green Hill Zone), there were two instances where the game froze on me and I had to restart my system. Both of these instances happened just seconds after Sonic leveled up for the first time. After these two instances of freezing, the game didn't freeze again.

 

I was wondering if this is a known glitch in the game. Did this happen to anyone else? Or do you think my cartridge may be damaged? It's definitely not my DS by the way.

I got the game on release and yeah, it's a freezy game. I think it happened to me twice on my first playthrough, the only reason I remember is because one time was without saving for a while. I think it's a lot of copies of the game.

Probably the game, though I didn't really freeze on me, based on what I remember anyway.
