Forgotten gems in Sonic soundtracks?

Sonic 3D Blast Volcano Valley Act 2 Genesis it is the most saddest song ever made for Sonic game!

I don't really think it's sad but mellow and more calming than Act 1. It is a great track though and I do prefer the Genesis soundtrack over the Saturn one. Many fans seem to like that version better but to each their own is what I always say. :V

I like Mi-ra-i form the Sonic X soundtrack smile.png

The OST of Japanese Sonic X is pretty underrated now that I think about it.  It's probably the most well-executed feature to come from that series.

Dear my Friend by Brent Cash from Sonic Unleashed, the ending credits song that plays after Endless Possibility, is criminally under rated. It's just so sad, making me think of Sonic and Chip's friendship , and how they get separated at the end of the game. A lot of people relate to this song, and I can totally see why. I actually got a little teary eyed listening to this song a while ago, for all the wrong reasons. Still a hit, nonetheless.

Sonic vs. Knuckles- North Wind from Sonic the Fighters. I found this to be quite catchy and it surprised me not many people seem to mention it.

Say what you will, it's Sonic 4. It's got dying cats out the ass. But this song's melody and composition is outstanding in my opinion, and I hardly even notice the cats due to that. With every other Sonic 4 song, if I hum it I tend to end up emulating the meowy-esque synth, but this song I tend to hum normally. This whole track to me is reeeeaaaaaally good and in my opinion needs more recognition throughout the fanbase.

EDIT: A couple of guilty pleasures I'm owning up to...

I don't even know why I like these two, but they always get stuck in my head. I can definitely see the whole 'repetitive' nature of Shadow's soundtrack, but unlike every other instrumental track (sans Sky Troops, which is only because of Melponterations), these two always call me back... It's strange.

While I find most of Black Knight's music forgettable, I absolutely adore Molten Mine and Dragon's Lair. They're probably the most 'rocktastic' tunes in the series.

I'm such a sucker for guitars.

SPEAKING of Black Knight I freaking LOVE Camelot Castle's theme. The melody, the guitar, the violin, ahhh thats gooooooood.

The only part of Camelot Castle I like is the brief 'happy' part that plays in the safe area of the level. Otherwise it's just some incoherent guitar bashing with some unfitting violin layered over it for no reason.

Oh yeah speaking of Sonic the Fighters this is my favorite theme, too bad it didn't make the final game since Honey the Cat was scrapped but she is playable in the PSN/XBL ports of the game. :3

I personally think the mix of guitars and violins sound great. It sounds 'ye olde' but with a modern flair to it, which is fitting to a game like this.

"My Destiny" by Donna De Lory, the song that plays at the very end credits of 06, is a complete and utter masterpiece. Ms. Lory's got an incredible singing voice. She's the main reason this song succeeds. Good instrumentals, but the lyrics are also great. I hate Elise, but this song almost redeems her in my eyes. Key emphasis on "Almost." But man, this song is really moving!

One of my favorite soundtracks was the Sonic Unleashed soundtrack. It captures music from around the world while still being one cohesive cd. I especially like Rooftop run and Chun nan.

I'm not sure if I posted this before, but I can't find it anywhere on this topic, so I must've forgot to hit the post button.

Anyway, one of my favorite Sonic soundtracks of all time is Sonic 3D Blast's (The SEGA Saturn version)

Just listen to this:

Just AMAZING. Jacques needs to start composing more Sonic music like this. I was a bit disappointed with his work in S&ASRT.

I also love Space Queens from the cancelled Sonic game, Sonic X-Treme.

Your right the Sonic 3d blast songs were really good. Sega really does a great job with music for their games. It has inspired fans to make really cool songs based of of their games. Lately I have been listening to the soundtrack for Sonic After the Sequel (available on the official site) which has some really nice tracks on it. My favorite from it is Cyan City 16-bit by Mr. Lange. I havent had a chance to play the game yet but the music is very good. The Sonic Stadium fan albums are also amazing as well (look under the download tab in sonic stadium to download these albums). One of my favorite tracks from this years album is the accoustic version of "Reaching for stars" by Wolfblur. These amazing fan albums are worth downloading if you need something to quench your thirst for new Sonic music.

I don't know if its just me being nostalgic because of how many hours I spent playing Sonic Adventure as a kid but I really love the Station Square theme.

I don't think Savannah Citadel Day gets brought up nearly enough when talking about Unleashed's soundtrack. It succeeds in sounding very African but also still very much like it belongs in a Sonic game.

Also, I really, really love This Machine (Team Dark) from Sonic Heroes, but its another one that I never really hear other fans mention.

Anyway, a favourite of mine...

This song kicks off slowly then gets really awesome in about 25 seconds. Seriously one of my favourite songs in SA1, shame it's out of Hot Shelter, a level no-one remembers as Sonic never visits said level.

Also...

MILLITANT.

FRIGGIN'.

MISSIONARY.

I love this song. It feels so epic and gives Eggman the right amount of threat he needs for a final boss fight in a Sonic game. So awesome.

Even though Sonic colors is fairly recent, I feel like the music for the game was overlooked despite how good it was. I like it when Sega combines a classic sonic sound to modern sonic music (instrumental and 8-bit). When they do this it always turns out to be some of my favorite sonic music.

Sweet Mountain has a fantastic soundtrack. It's not a forgotten gem, but I do feel that it has been overlooked compared to the rest of the soundtrack from the game.

"WAHN! TOO! TREE! FAW!"

"WE WILL RELAX AT THE SPIRIT OF SOUND!"

This track doesn't get nearly as much love as it deserves.

Agreed. I find the Chao music in the game to be some of the best. Sonic Adventure 2's Chao music wasn't as great as the first in my eyes.

Even though some of Sonic Rush's music is hard to listen to ( *cough* the Vela Nova song could do without the monkey sounds *cough*), it still has some good tracks. I would say its worth going to itunes and buying it.

Two of my favorites would have to be "Raisin' me up" and "Wrapped in black". Raisin' me up has a nice beat to it that was made to get stuck in your head. I love how the beginning sounds like a sound wave that ebbs and flows. It along with the rest of the Sonic Rush soundtrack has a unique sound that stands out from the music in other sonic games.

Wrapped in black has to be one of my favorite boss battle songs. I love it when sonic combines digital sound with instruments. Theres a good mix of violins and techno sound in this that I can't get enough of. Ok, so violins and video game music might sound like an odd pairing, but Sega made it really work in this song.
