Because you guys in the US grew up with 60FPS, while Europeans didn't?

Well you've played the games via emulation on a PC or tablet haven't you? Also even the backbone versions ran at 60FPS in all regions didn't they? (Just in case it sounds like I'm being a jerk I'm legitimately asking haha).

The Backbone versions played at 60fps when they felt like it.

May you never know the horrors of PAL and games running in 50hz/50FPS.

Proper widescreen is a big winner for me. Playing a game with borders at the sides, or with the picture *stretched* looks and feels horrible. 16:9 widescreen shows the correct prospective for modern day screens. That's one thing I can say about Sonic 4, SA2 HD and CD 2011. They are great to look at, because the picture fits the screen of the console/device perfectly.

I tried 50hz once with Kega Fusion, felt like I was playing Sonic on the moon.

I think the main point is that a lot of people have been spazzing over 60FPS.. despite the fact that they're American/have played 60FPS versions before.

That's exactly why I hope so much that it comes to consoles, Sonic CD looked perfect in widescreen on consoles, it was fantastic and it would be brilliant with Sonic 1 and 2 aswell. I'm getting p. hyped just thinking about it!

>playing sonic advance, got all the chaos emeralds

>getting ready to go to the moon zone

>tfw moon zone is actually a port of sonic 1 pal

I would like this but I ran out of likes for the day.

Sega related GDC videos are popping up, so we may see some gameplay soon:

Exactly. Sonic CD is something most Sonic fans haven't been able to access. I remember tracking down a copy of Gems collection just to play the inferior version of Sonic CD.

Now playing the game in HD and having a ton of new features (spindash fix) was awesome. I also sold my Wii so I can't play Gems anymore so that was a plus.

Sonic 1/2 aren't that special, especially since people have played them to death. They've also been ported to every system on the planet. I even have the mobile versions. To be honest though, the mobile versions are REALLY bad and I might pick up the new ones. I also want to see if we'll get Tails/Knuckles in Sonic 1/2 and online multiplayer.

Ya I am all for supporting it, but I would prefer something ultra rare, like Knuckles Chaotix, I do hope that comes along

So can we be all nice and happy now? I can understand some of the frustrations but we should be well aware of how NDA is as well as just respecting that people can't say everything. Besides I already made my decision to buy this the moment I knew it wasn't the same generic port of the same game, I didn't need anyone to tell me because I knew right from the moment I saw that little picture that this would be worth my time.

Not to mention I haven't played Sonic 1 in a long time, so it'll be good for me regardless.

About the 60FPS thing. Sonic 1 had a fair bit slowdown even on the original hardware. I imagine they'll be entirely gone in the remakes, which'll be nice.

That's another thing. Maybe when playing Sonic 2 with multiplayer (or even occasionally in single player with Tails turned on), the game won't slow to a crawl with half the sprites flickering off screen when one of the players takes damage anymore.

Speaking of multiplayer, maybe we won't be playing with squished screens anymore? And perhaps there'll be more than just Emerald Hill, Casino Night and Mystic Cave?

Mystic Cave (2 player) you mean. That zone had awful slow down even in the Mega-Drive version. Making the two player-online vs faster with less slowdown is a must (especially on consoles), as the slowdown on the PS3 version of Sonic 2 was shit.

Incidentally I'm actually more excited for the Sonic 2 remake than I am for Sonic 1, which I already mentioned before I think is fantastic as it is. I dislike Sonic 2 as much as I did CD, but the 2011 remake was so good that Sonic CD actually now strikes me as a good game. So maybe the same magic will be applied to S2 and I'll be able to enjoy it as much as the other games at long last. For starters, that game needs a save feature because I never feel like playing it in one sitting.

Hell if the game just adds a Tails that can fly then I'm fucking buying it no questions asked, and I'm never playing as Sonic again.

It was on the Xbox 360 version, too, which is why I couldn't understand why it wasn't fixed for the PS3 version that was released years later.

Problem with that is that besides Aquatic Ruin and possibly Wing Fortress, the remaining full stages have a specific area that can only be accessed and gone through with one character before it's blocked off or such. Chemical Plant has the blocked vertical segment underwater, Hill Top have those lifts above the bottomless pits, Oil Ocean has the exhaust lids that bounce you up to those scripted vacuum sacs sequences, and Metropolis has the movable screws and bolts. It would require a bit of tweaking to get those stages to be 2P accessible.

Those two versions were just emulation of the original game (as has every version of the game been except the ones in Sonic and Knuckles Collection and Sonic Jam). Short of an overclock option in the emulator they used:

There isn't really anything they could have done for that particular problem.

You are so right. To this day it has always bugged me that Tails could fly AI controlled, but the player could never control Tails flying. Were Sonic Team worried that if you could fly with Tails, that the fox would become more popular to play as than Sonic? Too damn right! I always felt that Sonic was too fast in Sonic 2 (as crazy as that sounds). Super Sonic is so fast that's it's hard to control and I hate it as a result. These are some of the main reasons why I dislike playing Sonic 2 so much.

- Lazy arse ports.

- Sega didn't get on with Sony back then.

So what chance did we ever have of getting a decent port. At least that will hopefully now change.

My friend owns the original KC.

He keeps saying that fans are asking for something they shouldn't be. He said it's a pretty bad game (especially compared to other Sonics) and that it'll disappoint people by the bucket load. Oh well, I guess people can prepare for disappointment. At least they'll get to play it.

I have played it, albeit via emulator, and I enjoyed it, I know it has its flaws, but its not bad either, and its got a lot of potential. however it is true that a lazy straight port/lazy sega emulation would be dissapointing. Something by Taxman on the other hand, thats another matter

Taxman couldn't fix all of the problems with Chaotix if he tried while still calling it the same game. The level design is exponentially worse and mentally torturous than S2/CD's ever was.

You might as well make an entirely new game using Chaotix's assets and call it Chaotix 1.5. ...Which I wouldn't be against.

Knuckles Chaotix is the kind of game that was practically designed for online co-op, though (also own the original); so if you could find someone to play it with it would be damn fun for a good while.

So right there we have at least one extra stage that could potentially work. Hill Top flat out wouldn't work because of the lava and earthquakes, but everything else could work with minor adjustments. Casino Night already has the elevators that only one person can use anyway. Chemical Plant's vertical tower is only blocked from the right hand side- if you fall down after climbing the tower you have to re-approach it from the left, and that would work fine for multiplayer. The water rising poses a possible issue in itself though, unless it's just totally forgone.

Anyway, it's just a thought. More multiplayer stages would be great.

So seeing as the 2 games will not only be released for Android but will also re-released on iOS, how are they going to differentiate between the iGenesis versions? Will they update those versions or will they call the games Sonic 1 and 2 HD?
