Hooray, it's finally been released! That took forever. XD

I'm glad that I could be a part of this experience yet again. Seeing familiar faces from last year, as well as seeing new people come in and making new friends... it's been awesome!

I've been listening to the album quite a lot over the past few days, and loving the hell out of it. I can notice a lot of improvement from some of last year's artists, as well as myself I'd like to think. Also, holy crap the track covers for this album are all amazing! I mean, they were great last year, but, damn. Seriously, excellent job everyone, both remix and album cover artists!

I'll probably post more later with my personal favorites, as well as suggestions for the next album.

Yay! The album is out! biggrin.png

I was deeply impressed and amazed at the project created last year, but this...there just aren't enough words to express my astonishment, excitement and amazement over this year's album. From the website to the artwork, everything looks stunning. And as for the tracks that I have heard so far, everything sounds great! happy.png

143 awesome tracks altogether, huh? I know what I'll be doing on my day off from work this week...bring on Wednesday! I can't wait to sit down and enjoy listening to this collaboration of a masterpiece. smile.png

I must truly congratulate each and every one of you who worked on this album. I truly thank you all for making this album available for us to enjoy! I really appreciate your hard work, dedication, passion, creativity and the time you took out of your busy schedules (as I know many of you are in school, working, or both even!) to put this together. With you all working together to create this album with all its awesomeness, it really shows the 'real super power of TEAMWORK!' tongue.png (Despite the joke of the Sonic Heroes reference I am serious!) You all have done an excellent job and really have amazing talent! Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this happen and sharing it with us! smile.png

It was probably the official torrent that is openly posted on the page ;)

Speaking of the torrent, I assume more than me will seed it for a while? I'm more than happy to seed it for a bit (seen as I'm not doing anything shady =P), but I'm not becoming the only other seed besides TSS itself XP

I've seeded it 3 times over already and will continue to seed whenever I have extra data transfer allowance to spare :)

I'll do what little I can for a few weeks (unless I forget..urrr), my ISP's upload speed is abysmally slow, .25 mbps or something like that, so it doesn't let it do much...but it's something haha.

Great work everyone! I've really enjoyed the process, and hearing your stuff! Rocking out to Act 5 right now. biggrin.png

C-can someone explain the graph bmn posted? I don't quite understand the details. xD

I assume that it's server bandwidth over time. The Y axis is the bandwidth (amount of data that is being transferred) in Megabits per second, and I believe the X axis is the time of day. As you can see, there was a huge jump in throughput around 22:00 (Probably the time the album was released and everybody started downloading it). I hope that answers your question :) (unless I was wrong in which case bmn can smite me xP)

I'm assuming that's right. I'm trying to look it up now.

It says bits per second next to the y axis and numbers next to them with the letter "m" which I think refers to megabytes.

Sure. Y axis is the amount of data being pushed out by the server at a particular time, up to our network's max of 100Mb/s (12.5MB/s). X axis is hours of the day - the graph as a whole covers 32 hours. The small blue section is data coming into the server; the orange line is the 95th percentile point, which is a billing thing (essentially, 95% of the time the bandwidth out of the server is below that line).

The little section where the graph cuts out is where things went wrong and I had to disable that download for a bit while I fixed it up.

What it basically shows is that, as soon as the album dropped, the main download link was using every bit of bandwidth the server had for 6-8 hours. That's about enough for 325 full downloads in that time, and it's been pushing at least 5MB/s (an album every 4 minutes wink.png) since then.

...plus the few hundred that've gotten it through the torrent of course smile.png

So, in a nutshell, YOU PEOPLE ARE BEING LISTENED TO NO LIE.

Edit: YOU PEOPLE SO FAST

Just finished the album. There are no words to explain how satisfied my ears are xD

I was prepared for some amazing content, but nothing could prepare me for this! I hardly find stuff to be perfect, but this really IS perfect. There's no duds. Everything has me listening all the way through, and that's a REAL accomplishment.

I need to go back and listen to the 2011 one too; I wasn't a member of this website at that time! Hopefully I can tune up my guitar and pull my keyboard from under my bed out and get something ready for this year...

First off, I just want to congratulate everyone on putting out an awesome album!  I've had this on for a couple hours now and I'm sad I have to turn it off for a while. :(

I'm trying to figure out an origin of a song of off the Act 2 disk.  Unstable...for Exterior Crater.  What game is this song from?  Thanks everyone!

The game? I think it's Phantasy Star Online.

That's Fumie Kumatani's song "Entry Into the Crater," from Phantasy Star Online. I learned of it from Jace's remix and and it's awesome!

Edit: Ninja'd, thanks Super Spindash. xD

Wow!  Thank you everyone for the help!  I spend 30 minutes trying to find out where that song originated.  I greatly appreciate it. :)

You're welcome! I actually spent my time listening to that entire song trying to find where it was from too; I guessed at Phantasy Star, so I guess that helped me find the song when I googled it. :D

It's from Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst. And that's definitely a great tune, one of my fave from MasterJace on the entire set smile.png

Well, since I'm done with the album, I'm gonna do the same thing I did last year and show you guys...

ALIEN.RENEGADE'S TOP 20 SONGS!

Yep, that's right. I decided to torture myself and pick and order my 20 favorite songs from the album (Of course not counting my stuff). Just like last year, I will also mention my overall favorite artist and also my personal favorite out of my own entries! So without further ado, here I go! (spoiler'd for massive size)

20. Empyrean Station (Flying Battery)- General Offensive
This is probably one of the best interpretations of Flying Battery I’ve heard. It’s got a slightly abstract direction, and the chorus always gets me pumped. Awesome job here.

19. Sonic’s Fight- sonicsneakers & TrickyWolfy
I think I actually caught this one on YouTube before hearing it on the album, so I was pleased to listen to it again. This reminded me of how cool the original soundtrack for Sonic X was.

18. Escape from the City (City Escape)- Serenity Seven
Awesome take on an all-too-familiar tune. Not much to say about this one, because the song speaks for itself.

17. Kaiser's Castle (Kaiser Greedy)- SuperPsyGuy
Now this one was interesting for me. I haven’t played through much of Ristar, but after listening to the original, I definitely think that this remix did it justice.

16. Underwater Maze Escape (Lost Labyrinth)- General Offensive feat. Joshua Taipale
DAT GUITAR SOLO HOLY CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP

15. Shattered Departure- VizardJeffhog
ALL OF THE FEELS. ALL. OF. THE. FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELS!

14. Snow-Blind Wonderland (White Park)- SonicHyuga
A really great arrangement. You definitely captured that snowy sound. I got flashbacks to those old Christmas TV Specials listening to this.

13. Not Those Kind of Chips (Bingo Highway)- Rexeljet
This remix made me so happy. Because 1) Bingo Highway is one of my favorite songs in Heroes, and 2) there were traces of the Complete Trinity remix in there, which I thought barely anyone remembered. Props!

12. Find the Computer Room! (Cosmic Fall)- Rexy
Expected nothing less from the awesome person that is Rexy. Definitely an enjoyable track.

11. The Bassics of Adventure (Splash Hill)- chunkybeef31
Awesome rock arrangements always hir the right notes for me, and this one is no exception.

10. Dr. Eggman's Diabolical Desert (Oil Desert Modern)- Zach Hinchy/EXshad
This has to be one of the weirdest remixes I’ve ever heard, and that’s why I love it so. I can’t help but smile during the dub/duckstep part. It’s so goooooooooooooood!

9. B-Boys and B-Girls! Grab Your Dreamcast Controllers! (Speed Highway)- Dizcrybe
This one is hot. I would totally go clubbing to this shit. Great job on this one!

8. For the Greater Good (Nonaggression)- MasterJace
Damn. This one…damn. Gave me so many chills. ‘nuff said.

7. Reaching for Stars- Wolfblur
Feel-good song of the album? Feel-good song of the album. Impressive voice-work and instrumentation. Bravo, Wolfy!

6. Interlude ~ Ghost in a Pumpkin Soup (Pumpkin Hill)- Azukara
I’m glad this one is on the album. Why? Well for one, it’s hilarious! Two, I’m not the only beatboxer on the album!

5. Guess What I Did Today? (Happy Theme)-  sonicsneakers
I looooooooooooved Sonic Battle. I planned on doing a Battle remix, but couldn’t get it right in time. This one though, I love it. Awesome song choice too. That was one of the best event songs, and this remix definitely did it justice, and then some.

4. Project K - YOUR KNIFE FEELS SO RIGHT (Yakuza: Black Panther)- Freen in Green
I can’t help but dance every time I listen to this. Skankfunk + one of my favorite animated bands is a match made in heaven, I swear.

3. Battle of the AGES (Death Adder)- Urban Flow
Perhaps the thing I love about this particular song the most is that the massive genre shift didn’t detract from the intensity of the original at all. This…is…SIIIIIIIIIIIIICK!

2. To Spagonia! (Tornado Defense)- General Offensive
I think this was the track that caught me off guard the most. I had no idea that someone would’ve done a Tornado Defense remix, and to top it all off, it was total earsex too. Holy shit. All of the props.

1. Launching the Empire (Levitated Ruin)- Wolfblur
Yeah. During the process of the album being made, I mean, it’s a bit of a bias, since High and Broken was my favorite Secret Rings song, but I didn’t expected this remix to be SO DAMN EPIC. I said it during the stream and I’ll say it again: Wolfy, you are one of the coolest people in the world for doing this.

OVERALL FAVORITE ARTIST:

IT’S A 3-WAY TIE!

Wolfblur- Despite having hopped in at the last minute, your tracks were so quality. Goddamn.
Urban Flow- You brought in some really ill shit this year. Keep it up, man!
General Offensive- Hands down my favorite newcomer this year. Each entry was just sweet as all hell. If you end up joining next year, I'm definitely anticipating whatever you'll have to bring to the table!

And now, it’s time for:

MY FAVORITE ENTRY/FAVORITE SONG I DID!

Welcome to Genocide City [Original]
Oooooooooooof course it is XD Despite this song being the first submission I entered, I knew it would be my personal hallmark entry for this album, and judging from the pre- and post-release reception, I was right. I think this song gave me the biggest sense of accomplishment I’ve ever had when finishing a song. The creative process was definitely fun for me (especially constructing the speed-up section), and I’m glad that a lot of people are enjoying this song as much as I am.

Anyways, I guess it’s time for my shout-outs now.

First off, a shout-out to all the artists (musical and visual). Everyone brought their A-Game and ended up creating one of the biggest damn awesome-as-shit projects this fanbase has ever seen!

Shout-out to the fans. I know it took us forever and a day to get this gem to you, but I hope it’ll be worth the wait!
And now individual shout-outs to:
Freen in Green- For just being a cool bunch in general and also collabing with me on the Anarchy Reigns track
Urban Flow- for being a bit of a hip-hop inspiration for me. I mean we only recently met and all, but I’m really starting to get back into loving beatmaking again, and a lot of it is because of you, so yeah, thanks!
Wolfblur- for just being plain awesome in general. If possible, we definitely need to do a track together!
And last but DEFINITELY not least:
VizardJeffhog- for actually being the one that made me sign up to this forum in the first place. I’m glad to have been a part of this forum’s musical crew, and these Music Album projects are helping me expand my horizons more and more. Without these projects, I probably would’ve been stuck in the same place I was 5 years ago.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this, and I’m definitely going to be on board for the 2013 project!

So, now that I've had a chance to listen to the album quite a bit, I thought I'd share my personal top picks.

Here are my top seven remixes from The Sonic Stadium Music Adventure 2012 (I don't know why I decided to go with seven. Same as the number of Chaos Emeralds I guess? :P).

Sonorous Discharge ...for Electric Egg - by Rexy
I love this mix so much! Anyone who knows me well knows that I have a huge fondness for the 8-bit Sonic soundtracks, so I was already going into this expecting to like it, but damn. It has kind of a dark and mysterious vibe going for it, yet it's still upbeat and extremely catchy at the same time; the result is amazing. My personal favorite pick of the album.

Maybe in Distance, But Never at Heart …for Casinopolis - by VizardJeffhog
Jeff's always done some pretty great piano pieces, but this one really stood out for me. The Dilapidated Way melody just came out sounding so well from this, it practically sends chills down my spine (in a very good way, of course XD). Also, the addition of the Leaf Forest beta music was a very nice touch.

Postlude ~ A Cast To Remember - by MasterJace
The synths in this sound awesome! Actually, everything about this sounds awesome. I also like what was done with the melody a lot. Listening to this just puts me in a really good mood.

Meanbean 2.0 ...for 2P Mode - by Gregzilla
Who knew there would actually be two Mean Bean Machine remixes on this album? XD Anyway, this is pretty awesome. I love the feeling of intensity that it has once things get going around the 1-minute mark. Good job Greg!

B-Boys and B-Girls! Grab Your Dreamcast Controllers! ...for Speed Highway - by Dizcrybe
Oh man. I already love the hell out of Speed Highway, and I absolutely love what was done with the track in this mix. The effects are awesome, and it's catchy as hell.

Topsy-Turvy Tower ...for Hang Castle - by TrickyWolfy
I love the spooky vibe this mix has going for it; the synths do a great job of helping with that. Overall, this just sounds really good, and it's one of those songs I can listen to a lot without getting sick of.

Underwater Maze Escape ...for Lost Labyrinth - by General Offensive feat. Joshua Taipale
A rockin' take on the Lost Labyrinth theme! The quality is excellent, and it's just so full of energy. Very well done!

EDIT: Decided to add a few more and make this a top 10, which makes more sense anyway. XD

Assault on the Ocean Base - by EAR
This is so incredibly full of energy; I just love it. Extremely catchy, and an absolute blast from beginning to end.

Launching the Empire ...for Levitated Ruin - by Wolfblur
Wolfblur's done it again with some amazing guitar work. Everything about this sounds top-notch.

Dancing Angels ...for Windy Valley - by Urban Flow
This has such an soothing tone to it. I love how it sounds. This is the perfect "kick back" music.

With that all being said, just because I didn't list your mix above doesn't mean that I didn't like it, because there's so much in this album that I absolutely love! Seriously, everyone did a great job!

Can't wait for the topic to open for the next album! :D

(I know, I know, I need to have some patience...)

Can I be the first one to say I didn't really like this one? No offense meant to any of you.

It just didn't feel as grand as I expect songs to be, not to mention most of it is techno, and when it is something like rock, it's usually too much at once. The only songs I really liked were the softer ones. This really feels like it's quantity over quality.

You can think of me as the asshole raining on the parade all you want.

It's pretty nice to know what you think actually!

I myself felt that quite the bit. I have my ideas to solve them but I doubt Jeff will listen :V

EDIT: Urgh, got busy. Disk 1,2,3 will be up by tomorrow.

I think I enjoy the gameplay intermission of Psyguy's Cluck Alert more every time I listen to it. Normally I'm not one for random SFX, but this one diverting to the bass from the game itself for that part helps a lot. Then when that rhythm guitar kicks in for a single long note again with the slime draining SFX, very satisfying impression of actually playing the level, like YES WE ARE MAKING PROGRESS.

Finished Act 1, can't say I was especially wowed yet but it was pretty decent.  My fave tracks were basically all the ones at the end of the disc, from Lost Labyrinth onwards, with White Acropolis being my personal favourite.  Love that tune and this was a great imagining of it.

I also liked the intro track, it was a little cheesy but kind of pumping in a way that would be SO exciting to hear live.  Fantastic choice of tune to use for that one too.

Pulse Titan, if you read this, I need to tell you; your Tikal theme remix is amazing.

I remember you saying that you felt that your stuff was low in quality; it really isn't. Not only is that Tikal remix catchy as all heck, it gave me the funniest imagination ever of Tikal jamming on a DJ set, headphones and all, with a bunch of Chao dancing and Chaos 0 breakdancing like that Adventure advert... yeah, I have issues. xD

To put it simply, that Tikal remix is outstanding. Keep up the great work!

I'll get down to writing my favourites list once I feel like I can review every track equally.
