On behalf of Sonic Paradox, I'm glad to hear you folks enjoyed Metropolis Mayhem and Sonic Shorts Volume 8! I managed to catch some of the stream and thought I'd share with you all the Easter eggs featured in Metropolis Mayhem.

 

To those not aware... I was involved in the project!

I contributed a short tune for KaDoYuu's Eggman scene during the credits (and thus have both MM and SSV8 on my laptop - AND IT WAS SO HARD KEEPING MY MOUTH SHUT ABOUT ITS EXISTENCE BUT I DID IT). Seeing that not everyone caught it and would like to try spotting the teases for themselves once the Sonic Heroes parody mv hits the web, I'll keep the following in spoilers.

 

First one off was, well, not really a spoiler, as it was the Volume 8 release date... which came 'round much sooner than people thought.

 

 

The following are, literally, "blink and you'll miss it". In order of appearance!

In any case, I just wanted to say that it was an honour to have taken part in the making of this project! I've been a huge fan of Sonic Paradox since the first Shorts, and believe me, had my younger self foreseen this, he'd scream in ecstatic joy. Seriously, Mack, Tom, Donnie, freakin' everyone, thank you so much for inviting me and putting up with me!

 

They Are Gone, I'll Move On, the short piano solo that played during Eggman's moment, is a combination of elements between Sonic 1's Final Zone and E.G.G.M.A.N.! It'll be up on the web as soon as Metropolis Mayhem is.

 

All that said, I hope to take part in the upcoming Casino Calamity music video in a similar fashion, and I'll see if I can contribute anything to the new SEGA Shorts, because gosh dang, I wanna become more involved at Sonic Paradox since it's been a blast so far!

Just arrived back in Belfast. SOS was awesome! Met all the guests and it was great. Saw some members about but I was nervous to say anything. xD    I KNOW, RIGHT!??!? I spent so much in the cafe. I kept going down every so often to cool down.

-Host asks about fan feedback and influence, Iizuka says that Sonic 4 was always made with the premise of classic Sonic and their fans in mind, SLW based on feedback that said the prior gameplay was too fast and the old Sonic fans (so you can get both high speed and slower gameplay).

The stream was good fun, unfortunately I got tired because it was getting late here in Australia and I missed out on the cosplay contest which I'll have to check out soon. I really liked the Unidis costume. That looked pretty cool.

I threw off my sleep schedule to watch this stream in full. I feel so elated. I also feel somewhat inebriated, so this should hold me over until Boom next week.

Also need to approve of how Shorts was snuck into it. It's the old "We don't have it yet... psyche, we do!" trick... It's like an April Fools' tactic; it's so predictable in hindsight, and yet it gets you every time... well played, Paradox team, well played.

Also OMGWTF I'm trying to search for Summer of Sonic 2013 on Youtube and i'm not getting any videos.

A lot of people had to fly in and stuff. I assume most were exhausted... but we'll see a flood of videos tomorrow.

Would love to know why this is so hilarious; Sonic games have been too fast for a long while and lost the gameplay that made the classics as great as they are. Also they've already said that the stream wasn't on YouTube and visitors probably haven't had time to post their videos yet.

Dude, you have got to share that hilarious photo you took of my Sonic plush when we were standing in the queue early in the day. That really tickled me XD

 

Best SoS IMO. Been to the 2008, 2010 and 2011 ones but this one I found to be the most involving, interesting and entertaining. Got my History of Sonic book signed by Hoshino and Iizuka. Buzzbombers was hilariously memorable with the masks And the cosplay competition was just amazing, found Sonic's little on-stage huff very funny.

This particular cameo/easter egg I drew/storyboarded myself before Ash animated it.

Funny thing, to be perfectly honest when I storyboarded this segment I didn't have the "Sonic Fan-Film" in mind at all. When Knuckles sings "2 ladies to go", I figured a hand gesture of holding two fingers up would be quite appropiate for the scene but like most Sonic fans know, Knuckles doesn't have any fingers. I just figured, "Wouldn't it be funnny to see Sonic's reaction if suddenly/randomly Knuckles had fingers"? Ashman loved the idea and we stuck with it.

It wasn't til later that someone (Recorderdude specifically) thought it was a reference to the fan-film and I see why people would think that but hey, if the fan-film comes to mind and makes the scene more amusing for the viewer, than that makes this scene much more swell!

I found it incredibly amusing that Jun guessed "Vector" from his hints...

Then again I noticed the contestants didn't seem to really be that competitive and were having as much fun as they were trying to win.

What was really awesome was the actual trivia. Stiv massacred the opposing team. I think only Nigel Kitching could have decimated his opponents better. XD

Now... while I'm here...

Lost World Reviews---

Wii U-

VERY SMOOTH and VERY FUN. No problems, no glitches found, was perfectly fine, could've been a bit faster but still an amazing demo.

 

3DS-

Also impressive, but with huge slowdown in areas even without much going on. This is a demo though so hopefully this is fixed.

I didn't fancy joining the line for Lost World. But from what I could see, the graphics look amazing and it runs so smoothly! I'll be preordering it for the Wii U at some point soon.

 

Same went for the signing lines. The lines were insane, so I decided not to bother. Would have been nice to get some stuff signed, but just being at the event was fun

 

I go for the merch! Lots of lovely stuff there this year. I was hoping for a few more rare things, but overall I was happy with my purchases.

 

The megadrive band was great! I was sat at the back, exhausted in my cosplay, listening to them. It's great to hear someone's take on the classic music. I got a chance to see Sonic Unleashed in Brief, but I somehow managed to miss all the other animations! Curse my attention to to schedule! Hoping they will be posted online soon.

 

The cosplayer's costumes keep getting better each year. I love the two kid's costumes and they deserved to win prizes. I'm so glad they did! Made me feel a bit bad that I competing against them. The little Sonic deserved to win 1st place and I think it meant the world to her

 

Overall it was a fantastic day. Tired myself out with travel and that costume, but got to meet a lot of awesome people, say hi to some people I met last year and drool over the cabinet with the hello kitty sonic!

Haha, my bad. I turned around to bring my Norwegian friend, but then I could not find you. We went to the Café later. x3

 

I went with Ben again this year. The day or so before, I was talking with root08 online, who turned out to be a fellow Norwegian not living too far away from me, and he was also headed to SoS, so we exchanged phone numbers and hung out throughout the day of Sonic. I bought the Sonic Generations soundtrack and had it signed by Iizuka. I mostly wanted to have it signed by Senoue, but I forgot about it and had food at the time instead. I also missed the megadrive band (clashed with Iizuka signing) and I also waited too long with trying The Lost World, being cut off when it was my turn, so I was being a little too clumsy this day. Makes me look even more forward to the release, though!

 

Thanks to everyone for a fantastic day! I am extremely shy, but it was great to talk with those I did get to approach. Still going to be inactive on the boards for roughly ten days since I will be travelling around a bit.

Awwww, thanks! The idea to surprise everyone with V8 was planned for a good while! It was about a month ago that we decided to do the "psyche" trick! It looks like it paid off better than we exected too! =)

It's the UK. And a group of incredibly devoted fans. Supes' evilness being one of the most distinctive characteristics of StC's canon... it just struck me as kind of unnecessary. It's like "water is wet, true or false?" to me, I guess.

I guess it doesn't matter in retrospect though; the other team was finished the moment Stiv walked onto one of them.

I can understand that feeling. I got this Sonic suit from China once... and going in it, within a half hour my lungs feel like they're filling with sand (whenever kids aren't coming to the doors for candy I sneak a breath of air). I give you credit for keeping the suit on for so long!

I also appreciated the red herring by putting the "Coming August 2013" in the Metropolis Mayhem; a reasoned guess would be it was later in August, rather than then! Well played trick overall.
