Sonic Athletics Announced "Jay goes fast"

Sonic Athletics is the next big Sonic game. Standing at over 6ft tall and being about the size of a living room, it's a big Sonic game.

 

You take the role of either Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Amy, Metal Sonic, Silver or Blaze and you have to run really fast in order to win... Yes YOU have to run really fast in order to win.

 

 

BECAUSE IT'S A TREDMILL HAHAR!

 

You and 8 friends (assuming you have 8 friends... assuming you have 8 friends who can afford to stay with you in Tokyo) compete against one another in order to race to the finish line.

 

It's based at Sega's Joypolis and it's website actually describes the game as being 'For people who need exercise.' In other words, you lose £400 on the plane/hotel ticket, then lose another couple of pounds running on your holiday.

 

Due to open on April 25th. Sonic Athletics is almost certainly not going to be released or come to the west in any shape or form.

Eggman is staying out of this after his last experience with treadmills.

 

This looks like it could to be fun, I would proablly try to get treadmill #1 if I could go to Joypolis.

Also is anyone else just slightly curious as to what actually happens when the game starts? Obviously it's gonna be you running on the track, but I'm really curious to know what happens when you win? Will there be some kind of annimations of the characters? Or will it literally be just 1ST! 2ND! popping up on the screen.

Sega releases weird Sonic gimmickry in Japan like this all the time. But what makes it darkly funny to me is the fact that it has a fairly high-quality logo to go along with the announcement, you know, like it's actually a main installment and something we all want to play. Liek....
