Gabz Girl 4,388 Posted March 27, 2014 So it should be up any time this afternoon. Gotcha! I'm more excited to play this than the Yoshi's Island DLC~ Highest Sega Sammy's stock price in recent 3 months - 2700 yen Sent from my SHW-M250S using Tapatalk 2 1 Captain Fun reacted to this
Doctor MK 4,477 Posted March 27, 2014 The Zelda DLC is now being advertised on the front page of the EU eShop but the actual content isn't available yet - only the Yoshi's Island Zone appears when you go into the Additional Content for Lost World. Won't be long though, hopefully!

Wil348 1,747 Posted March 27, 2014 More like "you're too slow!"... The other things included in the eShop update are up, why not the Lost World DLC?
Doctor MK 4,477 Posted March 27, 2014 SEGA and Nintendo just posted about the DLC on their respective social media outlets, I'm assuming that means it's now live GO GO GO GO!

Wil348 1,747 Posted March 27, 2014 I haven't received the update.... EDIT: Had to restart the console. Done
DarkRula 532 Posted March 27, 2014 It's a fun little mode, but by the look of it, just the one path. Neat cameo to the Zelda games though - instead of homing onto enemies, just jump on them. You'll get a heart to refill the gauge. Neat little thing there, I reckon. Once I get 100,000 points, I'll play it again in more detail. Look for any other hidden extras. VisionaryofSUPER 2,098 Posted March 27, 2014 Yep; Dio was right, it's just the one field and the dungeon. Ah well, it's free.
Doctor MK 4,477 Posted March 27, 2014 Played through the Zelda stage just now and... yeah, it's much more engrossing than the NiGHTS and Yoshi's Island DLC, but it's still not going to set the world on fire aside from the obvious draw of Sonic wearing Link's tunic. It certainly feels much more open and with a bigger emphasis on exploration than most of the levels in Lost World, but a lot of that is deceptive. You can see far off expanses in the distance in Hyrule Field, but you're basically restricted to a small portion of it. You never get to go to anywhere near Hyrule Castle, and a lot of the field is blocked off by a load of water (which as we all know, means it's a Sonic free zone). You're forced to take the "bomb the rock" path into the dungeon and from then on in it's essentially Windy Hill Zone 3 with a few extra secrets and Gorons instead of boulders. Still, it all feels very authentic, and the Zelda music blasting out in the background is excellent stuff. Oh, and you can farm animals here like nobody's business. If you're trying to upgrade all your RC vehicles to the maximum level, this is a great way to get a good 2000+ animals on every playthrough. Wish I'd had this before now, instead of having to suffer through all those circus minigames over and over again... It has that stupid "get 100,000 points to play it again" mechanic after you beat it, too. But that was expected anyway. All in all - it's a decent effort and considering it's free, it's definitely worth checking out. Don't go in with massively high expectations though, otherwise it probably will seem a little underwhelming. 4 Faseeh, Indigo Rush, Da Blu Hedgie and 1 other reacted to this
Blue Blood 29,948 Posted March 27, 2014 Well, that was okay. If you watched the trailer, you've essentially played the level and seen all there is to see. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the level (except how ungodly bad the SLW controls are for the Hyrule Field part and the lack of manual camera cotrol) and it's certainly the best of the three DLC Zones without question, but it doesn't offer much at all. It's incredibly short and shallow, basically. The Hyrule Field part sort of shows how better to do Sonic levels regarding space for movement in all directions and the ability to explore, but like I say it's very, very short and wholly minimal. If SEGA made a full sized level that was like the Hyrule Field area, then it'd still really suck. There's not enough too it. This DLC is nothing special. If you're not a Zelda fan, there's nothing really in this for you. And if you are a Zelda fan, then you'll appreciate all the Zelda touches on your first run and then not care next time. Just like with the NiGHTS and Yoshi's Island DLCs, this wouldn't be worth paying for if it wasn't free. Honestly, the best thing about it is the artwork of Sonic in Link's garb. It's nothing to get fussed over. Nice to have it at any rate. 1 Pawn reacted to this
Milo 15,488 Posted March 27, 2014 I'd assume this, the NiGHTS Nightmare Zone, and the Yoshi's Island Zone would have more content if Sonic Team actually had the time to make these full blown downloadable level packs available for purchase rather than brief little time wasters only available with pre-orders or as free downloads. Same goes for Generations, which had received the pre-order Casino Night pinball DLC. If these DLC Zones were Sega/Nintendo IP-themed level packs (presumably with each level having different playstyles in accordance with Lost World's levels -a 2.5D level, a 3D level, a boss level, and a special/unique "variant" level-), sold for probably $5 a pop, I'd assume they would be selling these like hotcakes. I'd even wager some people would even be willing to buy the game just because it's a gateway to the DLC. But considering the current Sonic Team as it is essentially drop each game they finish so they can immediately start work on the next one, due to Sonic games being on a biyearly schedule, I assume that's why these are the best efforts Sonic Team can do in order to extend the life of their past games. It's also probably why it took so long for them to release updates to the game that fix crucial issues such as the mandatory Wisp controls and the lack of the (usually standard in Sonic games) 100 rings = life gameplay rule. Which makes me wonder how Sonic Team were even able to find time to make DLC of new super-hard acts of pre-existing zones for Sonic 06 and Unleashed.... Just like with the NiGHTS and Yoshi's Island DLCs, this wouldn't be worth paying for if it was free. The best thing about it, honestly, is the artwork of Sonic in Link's garb. I thought the in-game model was a nice touch too. Would had been nice if they allowed people to use it outside the zone. :/
SlickEvan 252 Posted March 27, 2014 *Sees "one path"* AAAGGGGGGHHHH FUUUUUUU. Come on man D : It looked so open. Even though you haven't examined a lot yet, that's still bad. There should be paths that you can see and if there truly is just one path. I'm rather disappointing.
KrazyBean 2,649 Posted March 27, 2014 It's short but oh so sweet! I loved it. Here's my video of it, it was taken from my livestream of the DLC. I wish it was far longer than this though, with more branching paths which takes you to other locales of the Zelda universe. 3 FriendBot, Da Blu Hedgie and -Ace- reacted to this
DarkRula 532 Posted March 27, 2014 If you really want to know how short this level really is, it can be speedran in less than a minute. By an amateur speedrunner. Yup, that's right. I just did one. And it really was just under a minute, and would have been quicker had I not made mistakes.
