What kind of music do you want in this game, and who'd you want to compose it?

Just wanna throw that out there, coz' I got some goosebumps thinking about "if that happen":

If Lost World features a Tornado level(and I hope you have control over it this time), a remix of this, one of the best Unleashed tracks, will be trully awesome. I can't imagine a better music to fit a flight at a sunny day.

Everyone. I want everyone to make music for Lost Worlds, and every Sonic game after that.

All of the different composers, Senoue, Ohtani, Kumatani, Tokoi, Jaques, etc, all have something unique to offer to a soundtrack. Variety is the spice of life, and Sonic has always had very varied musical styles. Though Kumatani wasn't around in Generation, that soundtrack as a whole, showed how awesome a soundtrack can be when almost everyone contributes in some way. Heck, I even want Cash Cash and Runblebee to return and do a couple of tracks here and there.

There's a saying that goes "too many cooks spoil the broth" and I think that goes for that here. Generations was basically a remix fest so it sounded good because they were just recreating already great tunes, but I think an original soundtrack with two many artist can come out as a unfocused mess somewhat. So at max id personally say three of four artist are fine enough, mainly Ohtani, Kumatani, Tokoi and Senoue if he actually brings his A-game, and Cash Cash to bring the vocals and maybe some original stage music of their own.

if anything i would want the level music to be a mixture of colors and adventure style ( or just adventure style ) if not those

maybe sonic Rush style

but theme's wise i feel adventure style would fit more because i don't wan't more "Speak with your Heart" or "Reach for the Stars" i kinda feel that doesn't fit as a sonic theme of sorts, i  grew so used to sonic themes being rock type songs that those really didn't fit to me

I have a good idea: Bring back Masato Nakamura. I would love to see what he could come up with now that he would not be limited to 16-bit synths.

I just want the usual guys. Jun Senoue, Tomoya Ohtani, Naofumi Hataya, Mariko Nanba, Sonic R Man (watch Hellfire to get the joke), Fumie Kumatani, all that lot.

And if we get character theme songs again (pleeease, SEGA) bring back Tony Harnell and Ted Poley. I know the last time they sang was practically Generations, but I want a new original song from them. Race to Win was freakin' awesome.

Oh, and give Naofumi more things to work on. That man is the MASTER of chiptune and admittedly he should've been the one doing Sonic 4's soundtrack. I just want to hear more stuff like his work in Heroes and Generations.

I wouldn't mind seeing Cash Cash return, I think their upbeat, technoish(?) music would fit the tone of this game (judging from the teaser image).

But I'd really like if they got Crush 40 to the main theme again, Black Knight was the last game they did that for IIRC and I've been kinda missing them.

As for stage music, I can't get enough of Tomoya Ohtani's work. From Tropical Resort to Modern Crisis City, it's all marvelously composed music that's a joy to the ears.

I would like a vocal main theme, with the final boss being some variant of it, as has been tradition pretty much nonstop since 1998.

Other than that I'm impartial. I like pretty much any music that Sonic games can come out with; with Generations my biggest disappointment was they went with the "play it safe" classic menu theme rather than anything new.

I think one of the reasons the Time Eater theme generally doesn't stack up with prior final boss music in most minds is that it didn't have buildup like most do. Who imagined you could make songs as corny and perky as Reach for the Stars or Endless Possibilities epic? Barring Sonic Heroes and What I'm Made Of, normally there's a connection between the final boss and main theme... and I think it should be maintained.

All the guys from sonic 06 and colors like tomoya ohtani, mariko nanba etc.

Senoue and cash cash should stay far away from any future sonic projects

Unless senoue starts making music like sa1 again, which i doubt

I'd like to have a really diabolical tense final boss and a theme to go with it for a change.  With an optimistic theme change only for the very end.

Basically how Sonic Generations did it but more dramatic.  Time Eater had a great theme and it did feel final but... it wasn't a mindblow of an exciting track and... pfft Sonic 4 theme c'mon.

That just reminded me.

I want both the EGGMAN theme and the theme from Unleashed/06 back. Thank you very much.

That probably depends on who's heading the project. Jun Senoue always uses EGGMAN as it's one of his creations. Ohtani and Tokoi seem more intent on using Hideaki Kobayashi's Eggman theme from '06 as it appeared in both Unleashed and Colours. I do prefer EGGMAN, but for the sake of continuity I wouldn't mind if they used the '06 again.

Just don't let Senoue take centre stage like he did in Black Knight and SatSR, or even Generations were he butchered almost everything he touched by slamming his guitar against it.

Not all of it was guitars! What about the awesome electric organ in Casino Night Act 2? Oh wait...it was a collab with Atsushi "Sushi." DX Ah, but I'm pretty sure he didn't do all of the soundtrack for SatSR. Wasn't that Runblebee? In fact they did a lot of the vocals for stages in-game.

Not sure why I said SatSR- he wasn't involved in that, and I quite like the soundtrack. I think I meant to say ShTH. lol

Oh yah, ShtH has the most forgettable soundtrack of any Sonic game out there. It's not bad, just really forgettable. >_>

Atsushi "Sushi" collab + Tony Harnel and Ted Poley + Hataya, Senoue, Ohtani, Tokoi = sucess.

I mean seriously, Sonic games have the best music composers in the history of gaming. It's a dream team(and yet SEGA decided to let Jun do Sonic 4 music alone, assholes). It can't go wrong if they all work together, so I don't care who they're gonna call to compose this time, it will be great ^^

I'd love to hear a theme that uses his 2006-onwards motif but with some of the techno percussion and pace of E.G.G.M.A.N.

Though really it depends on how much of a threat they want him to be.  The very opening to Unleashed?  That would have a completely different effect if it had used E.G.G.M.A.N. for the dramatic zoom to ole' Eggers.

I can go either way on the themes for the action stages, so long as the tunes are memorable. I liked Colors music, but I wouldn't mind something like Sonic Heroes mix of Techno and Rock either...

I just want another Crush 40 song to come from this game, be it an opening cinematic, boss theme, credits theme, character theme, whatever. I miss them.

Oh... And I'd really like character themes to make a return, but if this is another "Sonic and unplayable Tails and Amy" adventure, I don't see that happening.

I feel that if the guardians are boss fights, they should either have their own themes that encompass who and what each one is, or have the same melody but with different instruments for each one (think about the legendary beast's themes from HeartGold/SoulSilver).

Seemingly Kumatani get's often mentioned...

IMO Kumatani woudn't really fit as a Sound Director, she mostly does complementary pieces for the Sonic games that are more ambient. She's the main music head for PSO already too, and fits that role more.

She does so much more than just complementary music, whatever the hell that means. That's just in Sonic games, and by no means is it all ambient either. What about this?

EDIT: Just listening to Tornado Defence from Unleashed. Oh gawd that chorus is sublime. I seriously hope it's actually remixed for Lost World, even if the Tornado is only in cutscenes it would make stellar background music.
