Well, Dimps had much more time to work this out. Additionally, with Generations 3DS, they had to work with completely new assets and needed to get used to the hardware in general.

That, and maybe they hired some new people and made sure that Sonic Team had closer involvement.

They kind of have to, the 3DS to Wii U ownership ratio is skewed heavily in the 3DS' favor. It'd be financial suicide to not put effort into that one.

EDIT:

That sounds amazing, but i'm still iffy about how the Parkour in the 3DS version moves, since it looks as if in the 3D stages you are locked in one direction when running sideways through walls and cannot do anything else but jump between them. Am i looking at that wrong?

You can climb up the walls in the 3DS version as well. Both versions have identical parkour abilities. The only major difference is the visual effect, (Wii U has the blue after-images, 3DS has the rainbow stars).

Check out this video and see for yourself:

I'll admit, those look good. Good enough to wipe out my pessimism that Dimps are completely incompetent at making Sonic games in general for the most part.

Can't help but wonder if they got some new blood in the studio, kept most of the "top" staff on this game and exiled the rest to Gen. 3DS and S4E2, or just simply started to give a shit about the games they are developing again.

Open Stages doesn't equal un-challenging those aren't even in the same section of level design.

I'm not comparing the stages, I just said the 3DS stages seem more challenging to me, but I never said "X zone 3DS looks more challenging than X zone Wii U" or crap like that, but if you want me to do it like that, then OK.

Windy Hill on the 3DS looks more challenging to me and focuses on destroying those giga-badniks and doing HARDCORE PARKOUR, while the Wii U version is way more open and has more paths, which add a strong sense of exploration, however, for me it doesn't looks as challenging as the 3DS version, but since that's the only version that has footage for both versions, that doesn't says much, so I'll probably change my mind when more footage is shown =3.

I feel like I could just burst out with an epic face right now. Casino stage in the 3DS =D!

28367SLW_3DS_SS_RGB_W652_1.jpg

Look at the expansiveness of Tropical Coast 3DS =D

28353SLW_3DS_SS_RGB_W352_1.jpg

After seeing that Frozen Factory Casino for the 3DS version, its pretty obvious that the 3DS version has the Honeycomb, Sweet Mountain Stage & Underwater Grind Rail stage =D.

Oh boy, I'm so excited! Those screenshots look Good, Great, Awesome, Outstanding, AMAZING!

First, Rotating Stages, then, Super Sonic, and then, Casino Frozen Factory.

Wait, if there's a casino stage on the 3DS version...

OH.

MY.

GOSH.

THE HONEYCOMB.

THE CANDY STAGE.

I CAN SMELL THEM.

Well yes, but look at around the part at 55 seconds, it shows that he's locked into one direction and cannot move left or right fluidly compared the Wii U version besides jumping from one wall to another, it just looks kinda stiff.

(Though that was an early footage so.....:3)

Man, the 3DS version just keeps getting better and better.

The handheld Sonic games has always been known for being extremely inferior due to the lack of special content, levels, etc. But LW 3DS looks like it can keep up with the HD version perfectly. It's obviously inferior when it comes to technical limitations, graphics and stuff like that, but come on, it's in THREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE DEEEEEEEEEEEEE (totally not a reference to The Fairly OddParents), has rotating worlds, SUPAH SAWNIC (I think this is the very first time you could use super sonic on regular stages on a handheld game, cool!), and the "bonus" stages like the Casino Factory (hope to have the pinball as well), and the overall game looks extremely well done and fun to play, especially when you know it comes from DIMPS.

Oh and if I cant talk about the casino stage for a second, it looks pretty open and challenging. I mean, THERE'S A FREAKING ROBO-PENGUIN WHICH MAKES THE SAME THING GREY QUAKE DOES AND SHOOTS MISSILES AT YOU! Wait. On Tropical Coast Wii U it was shown another robo-penguin, which is usable, but on the 3DS version, the robo-penguin it's different in color and it looks like a mini-boss. So probably there would be exclusive types of robo penguins as well =D.

And Tropical Coast, ohh Tropical Coast...First, the camera angle and in where Sonic is at makes it look EPIC! Something like "I AM HERE" or stuff like that. The stage looks insanely expansive as well. I think Tropical Coast is the most expansive zone that has been shown on the 3DS version...yet, and along w/ Casino Factory, it looks beautiful.

And finally...THIS.

1 Word; EPIC.

Oh and BTW.

Did someone notice that red ball on the corner? I think it has something to do with those holes that are surrounding the capsule in the middle.

That's definitely tropical coast with the construction pillars, pushing the apples and apple juice rising probably like the chemical plant water.

The in-game models for the deadly six look pretty good on the 3DS.

Hm, I must say: after the sheer mehness that was the previous handheld version of console games, I'm honestly surprised that this version of Sonic Lost World is actually looking mighty good! Though it still doesn't fully measure up to the Wii U version, I'll still pick this up at the earliest opportunity.

Idk about you guys but I feel like the 3DS version has more difficulty compared to the Wii U version, Ik you can choose your path in multiple ways for the Wii U in most stages such as the tube stages revealed so far, even though tubes are in the 3DS version & you have a good amount of paths in the 3DS version's unique level design too. But look at the mini bosses in this version, people went crazy trying to beat this little asshole:

Give_me_my_switch%21.png

This guy is a complete dickhead, people didn't even know how to beat him & died around 3 times at least, that's some difficulty. But anyway besides that, Ik mostly all of you have seen Frozen Factory's Casino for the Wii U version, most people said it was really short, straightforward & mostly easy, except for the lasers. Anyway compare that footage to this one screenshot of the Casino in the 3DS version, ik its probably stupid to compare it at this point when theres no gameplay of the stage so far but just look at it:

Frozen_Factory_Casino_3DS.png

1st off, theres nothing straightforward about this stage, its circular which is pretty damn cool, 2nd off look at that giant badnik penguin, shit looks difficult to beat showing that this version does have difficulty, then look at the multiple colored dice on the side of the zone, looks pretty creative & I think they could be used to block that badnik's  missiles. But yea just look at how creative this stage looks through one screenshot compared to the Wii U version's Casino zone. This goes to show, the 3DS version has stages that are better than the Wii U version even if it's inferior in a couple ways =P.

Totally agreed (actually that's what I said some comments before). Though we can't still say some 3DS levels are superior since we haven't seen gameplay, shit looks difficult.

Those stupid worms are certainly difficult, and to make it worse, Desert Ruins 1 throws at you not 1 but 2 worms, and when you think you succeded, a motherf***ing giant worm starts chasing at you.

And that penguin looks certainly strong. It has a giant size, it has rockets, and will more likely do the same thing Grey Quake does.

The difficult that is being shown on the 3DS version is the reason of why I'm digging it way more than the Wii U version, I preffer challenging and difficult levels over open levels, and by that I don't mean I would like a straight line to the finish with certain difficulty.

So far the 3DS version has most of the Special Zones(Ima stop calling them out of place zones), that the Wii U has. It has that Windy Hill Zone 3 stage, & that Frozen Factory Zone 3 stage. I dont know what number zone the stages will be in for the 3DS version, im thinking around Zone 5,6 for the sole reason that you can unlock zones through Red Star Rings & zone placement might vary for the 3DS version. The special zone themes i've noticed so far are:

Windy Hill Zone 3 (The newly revealed zone with the labyrinth look)

Desert Ruins Zone 2(The zone with the Honeycombs & Mach Speed)

"Dessert" Ruins Zone 3(The zone with the sweets that look identical to Sweet Mountain)

Silent Forest Zone?(The purple zone revealed in the trailer that looks like Donkey Kong due to the silhouette)

Frozen Factory Zone 3(The epic & badass casino zone)

Tropical Coast Zone?

sonic-lost-world--tropical-coast-zone-3-

Well so far those are the Special Zones we've seen, here are the unique design of those stages in the 3DS version!

Windy Hill Special Zone

So far those are the only 2 special zones revealed for the 3DS version =P

Oh, so you've already seen the Underground Hill? Cool! Hope the 3DS version to have those crystal spheres. Now that I think about it, could the Laser Wisp go through the crystal spheres? Dude that would be epic.

I think Dessert Ruins is like Sweet Mountains just, ya know, more natural, like Green Hill and Mecha Green Hill.

And the Mecha-Tropical Coast would look so badass on the 3DS version.

First post here, but I just wanted to say that the controls for the 3DS version are extremely responsive. I've just reached the sixth world and I've only disliked one level.

My biggest problem with the game are the gyroscope controls for the special stages and one of the bosses (so far) - you have to stand up and spin around (and move the 3DS up and down) to aim.

Welcome to the Sonic Stadium, that's great to hear. My excitement for the 3DS version waned quite a bit when I saw Cobanermani's video, since he said it controlled incredibly slippery.

To be honest, at this point it's best to just wait and play the game yourself. SO MANY contradicting opinions!

I never said that was my thoughts on the game just because he did, but when you hear someone saying it's worse than the control in Heroes, which is notorious for slippery control, I obviously worry a bit. Notice how I said I was still going to buy it anyway.

Welcome. Just wondering how did you get the full game? Did you get a review copy of the game?
