So I finally got a video of this up after working on having all of them split out of the AutoDemo itself. Looks like Knuckles was a whole hell of a lot more combat oriented initially than what we got in the final.

Anybody else getting Warehog Vibes?...

It's really cool to see that because it shows a lot of things that could've been implemented into Knuckles overall designs and stages and kind of shows insight into what they were at first thinking when making him. I guess he would have had Sonic type levels but much more combat oriented gameplay as in bashing enemies in stages? I dunno seeing as the stages are the same for each character just different paths but it looks cool nonetheless. Maybe you would just go around collecting shards, not a specific amount but like there are a whole bunch just hidden around and you collect more that X amount before the time goes down.... Wait no, now I'm just spewing ideas heh. But still it's cool seeing all these animations.

It seems there was one valid reason to change Windy Valley:

Shame, the level looks a lot better fully implemented, if still a bit maze like.

Yeah most likely the objectives of the game changed, went from adventure based (<- think Mario 64) to adventure-speed based and thats why the level was cut.

Would've made a cool knuckles stage though.

If that's why they changed it, it didn't exactly work:

At least it's still kinda a shot in the dark for the final version. Don't get precise and you'll fall to your death. The beta version is more or less just turn the other way and there it is in front of you.
