Extremely small nitpick here, but has anyone noticed how blurry Sonic's eyes are in the screenshots? They look really low res.

Sonic's eyes were blurry back when Generations was still being developed, they'll likely fix that later on:

Those screenshots are insanely high res- higher than most TV screens can produce, higher than the Wii U can render and higher than the game could hope to run at. Look at the 720p versions of those screenshots for a more accurate idea of how the game will look. You won't notice the blur on his eyes.

I'm actually kinda glad they're sticking with this model. It's nice to see Sonic have a consistent look for a change.

He had that look going on 5 years...

Considering how freaking Schizophrenic they were with designs back in the 2000-2008 period , I'm surprised they are too. GLAD but surprised laugh.png

Gorgeous!

So now we've seen the following for Windy Hil on Wii Ul: demo stage, second 3D stage from trailer, sunset stage, night time stage, unknown 2D area that may or may not be part of another act.

I'm willing to bet the sunset stage and this new one are the same with some time progression going on like generation's speed highway.

It's actually kind of evident by the fact that the sky hasn't gone fully night yet and some of the sunset is still clearly there.

Seeing as they confirmed this game isn't using baked in global illumination, that could very well be the case.

^^^^^ And that would be awesome. Actually, this 2D level may even have a third time progression, the first trailer showed a 2D Windy Hill at day too! Let's hope that's the case and not 3 Windy Hills with just a different sky color tongue.png

Different times of day are a great way to get more mileage out of a level theme, and I hope more levels than just this one take advantage of them. A nighttime-set candy-themed stage would be totally rad.

The 3DS version sadly looks like it's pretty weak in the visuals department. Colours are pretty washed out, and there's hardly any of the lovely décore that the U version has. And it's pretty hard to figure out why, actually. There's repeated loading mid-stage (giant springs in Windy Hill, teleporters in Desert Ruins) and yet there's still not a lot going on. Bit of shame.

Keep in mind that 3DS games look like shit in screens and videos. While it's obviously not going to match the Wii U version, I'm sure it will still look good.

I guess this is the generic screenshot topic?

I've been away for 2 weeks but I'm pretty sure this is brand new.

Sweet Lord! Those look incredible! Getting a mix of Heroes/Sonic 2 and the pinball one looks like the DLC from Gens' Casino Night remake! It reminds me of Heroes mostly, but still manages to be quite unique in some places. Seriously can't wait to see more of that, and more levels.

That's the first time I've seen them, and WOW!

What's with all the these classic references though?

Yes. YES YES!!!!!

We haven't had a legit Casino level in fucking AGES (Sonic god damn Heroes). This is great!

Im really happy at all the level tropes that are being used in this game.

Looks a lot like Casino Night. Hopefully it's not too much of a rehash of it.
