Yo, Sonic Heroes. That is how you fucking make an aesthetically pleasing Casino Stage. Colors and shading that work well together without to prevent clashing. YES.

That Casino Zone looks awesome, and like Soniman said we haven't had one in ages. Also classic Sonic/Eggman designs! And Egg Pawns with badniks! Out of all the zones we've seen so far, this looks the closest to a Genesis Sonic game in a 3D environment

 

And a pinball table section? Does this mean momentum-based physics (done well)?

I love the classic icons seen here, is it a slot machine of some kind? And the Egg Pawn screenshot makes me grin, especially since I was talking about them earlier. Coincidence?!

Seriously, though, that casino level looks quite lovely, like something from Sonic Generations minus the flashier stuff. With memories of Sonic 4's poor excuse of a casino level in mind, though, I just hope that the pinball sections here will play well.

It was out the window with Windy Hill being a Green Hill knock-off And even irrelevant before then considering the fact that we didn't know about any art direction when the only thing we had was a render of the planet from far away. Although, you guys do realize, that an Earthly casino stage on an alien planet means that we can also stop saying that the reason for the art style change is indeed because it's an alien planet and not just because Sonic Team likes doing new things, right? Which is fine. Doing new things is cool. (Stop! D< I'm aware Eggman could've built this, but that's not inherent in any of the story blurbs yet, so we should thus assume the planet is natural. Neener neener.)

 I especially love how the Pinball table is shaped like Zavok's face, it really makes the Deadly Six feel a part of the Sonic world.

So, I think it may be fair to say that the "New art style" only binds itself to certain stages, while we have the art style that's Sonic games are usually connected with in others, which I see no problem with. It means it caters to people with a preference to the old one, as well as those who like the new one. (And people who like both, like me).

 

So yeah, I want to make sweet love to this game and none of you will or can stop me.
