I'm glad they opted for his Shadow Dragon design as opposed to his classic one. Especially with how it looks here (in the artwork for SD it looks a little goofy). I also like the fact that his face seems more Japanese now as well as the fact that his hair has physics/bones now.

Much like Link I think this is the best Marth has ever looked.

Nah, considering the colour of the effect I think this is Dancing Blade that we're seeing here.

I've never cared about Fire Emblem or Marth on a personal level but it would have been weird to not bring him back, he has a very unique playstyle that I find fun to play around with every now and then.  He feels a lot smoother and more majestic to use than Link, and has a sort of simpler appeal due to being entirely swordplay based.  And uhh, yes oh my his character model is even making me a bit hot under the collar but then Marth is a massive girl anyway.

Funny you should post that, Katie later noted that the personality she created for Marth is nothing like the one he actually has in the games. It's even the trope image for Alternate Character Interpretation.

Not that anyone actally knows that since all the games ceased to exist after fucking Awakening came out.
