I actually haven't played many Sonic games, I have usually just watched other people play them, either by my older brother when I was younger, or through playthroughs on Youtube. I'm familiar with nearly all of the modern games, but I'd love to know more about the older Sonic games, especially Sonic 3, and Knuckles Choatix.

Well i did try to play sonic rush but that was hell, do not like playing any DS games for the nintendo ds, i've played quite a few sonic games, but i must admit, i never really liked the madness in sonic games, when sonic keeps dying and silver wont pick up an object to kill the baddies/enemys & then silver or the others gets thrown bombs on them or lose there precious rings, then it's GAME OVER, the games that are my favourite Though would be: UNLEASHED/COLORS/GENERATIONS/BLACK KNIGHT, i played sonic 06 but me & my brother have the most fun playing the olympic mario & sonic games & ASRT, and of course my bestest game sonic unleashed.

I've played almost every Sonic game out there, but I stay far away from certain Game Gear Sonic Games.

 

On the flip side, Sonic Chaos, Sonic Blast, and Sonic Triple Trouble were good.

There are many games in the sonic franchise I still have yet to play. I haven't played any of the story book games seeing how I don't own a Wii, I've never played any of the games from the rush series seeing how I don't have any money to buy the games and I don't really want to get a emulator and pirate the game... Next I haven't played any of the Riders games simply because they don't look that interesting IMO... Sonic R is a classic game I haven't played yet. I'm wanting to own a real copy of the game for my Saturn one day and once I do own it, that's when I'll play it. Saturn emulators don't like to work well on this computer so... emulation is out of the question. Finally I haven't played Tails' Sky patrol, Sonic Drift 2, or Tails Adventure. I don't honestly know why I've never played these last few games, I might download them and check them out. I've played and own all the Genesis titles, I have extra copies of some games as well. I also have played Sonic CD and Knuckles Chaotix and own those two as well.

Same here although I thought Sonic Blast were really lame :/

 

I would recommend Sonic 1 (8-bit).  It's definitely not as good as its 16-bit counterpart but I say give it a try. You might like.

As for Sonic 2 (8-bit), I say go in with great caution and try to go with the Master System version if you can.  The game is solid but WILL kick your ass!

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that i've never played any of the mobile games either because I don't have control over my account because I don't pay the phone bill. (My gf's mother does and I don't think she'd like it if I bought a game... though they are cheap I should probably talk to her about it but meh...) I've also never played Sonic Shuffle, or Sonic Battle before too. Same goes with all the educational Sonic games besides that unreleased Master System game Sonic Edusoft. :V

Ah, I forgot about the mobile games.  Those games always looked like fun little time wasters, but I've never had a compatible phone.
