Sonic Lost World Preorder DLC

Yes if I had to guess, I think this edition will be like the ASRT special edition and will hopefully be available for a long time anyway. And it is more than a pinball table, probably just to give people more incentive to buy it soon or buy the special edition or something, so it's a bit mean but it's a nice unnecessary prezzie all the same.

However if the standard game doesn't have anything in the way of secrets or unlockables, that would make this thing all the more sucky. Games need secrets.

I would be surprised if they don't put another, say, £5 on the price tag.

Okay, here's where I stand.

If the Special Edition is the same price, and released worldwide, then I still think it's a stupid decision (since it should just be in the standard version) but it cannot really be condemned.

But I think it's very unlikely. If they are the same price, there would be no incentive to buy the standard version.

With ASRT, SEGA only made the Bonus/Special Edition at the start. Every copy of the first run of the game was the Bonus edition. Once stocks were replenished, it was just the standard version that was sent out. It's to get people to adopt the game early in fear of missing out.

The fact that they showed a European trailer kinda gives off the suspicion that its going to be Europe exclusive....which would suck.

Not the point I was making.

Folks were plenty disappointed at how freakin' limited the release of the Casino Night DLC was post Generations' release, causing many who hadn't had the opportunity to pre-order to completely miss out on this bonus. We're already two years past the game, and the folks in blue hadn't had the decency to add it in the XBLMarketplace, the PSN Store, and others, save for a specific region of the world via one platform, if I recall correctly.

Simply put, I just hope that this doesn't turn out to be pre-order exclusive DLC, or DLC that ends up being neglected by SEGA once Lost World is out.

I still think that's a mean practice, but not as bad as other Limited Edition practices.

Thanks for the heads up! Although keep in mind that Sonic Team may not follow Sumo Digital's limited edition practices.

Not to mention it helps drive people to buy the game early so SEGA will make more money, as opposed to waiting for it to hit the bargain bins when they'd make a good bit less.

I'm honestly still seeing the Bonus Editions of Transformed when I head into game shops, personally...

It's a SEGA practice. The same thing was done for Anarchy Reigns, where Bayonetta and a few extra game modes were included in first prints of the game.

Considering the tone of the first game, I wouldn't be completely surprised.

That was SEGA's practice. They sold and published ASRT. Sumo just made what SEGA told them to, and gave them permission to.

Still, we don't know how this will pan out. Either way I love the DS Edition boxart. It's not very different, but looks grand.

EDIT:

Well, it's still available online too, but to start with there was no sign of a standard edition at all. You also have to remember that the Wii U version of ASRT includes Metal Sonic and OutRun Bay on the disc. It's always going to be pegged as the special edition and won't have a standard version.

No word on an American release yet?

Ack, I was posting under the assumption this would be like ASRT where it's on disc and the Limited Edition is basically the standard version.

Well, I'm sure if it is DLC they won't do the same as with CNZ Pinball. Though, wasn't that originally supposed to be exclusive to the Collectors Edition?

The fact that they showed a European trailer kinda gives off the suspicion that its going to be Europe exclusive....which would suck.

Well, it's a Gamescom trailer, so it would be a European trailer..

Has anyone actually tried contacting SEGA about this? Or have they said anything on the SEGA forums?

It may make sense for the company but, you have to admit, it's still mean.

It doesn't happen in film, books or music.

Just imagine:

So Lady GaGa's new album is out, but hang on, one of the tracks is only on the first run Special Edition of CDs!

Here comes the next Game Of Thrones boxset, but holdon, one of the episodes is only available on the first run Special Edition!

It says right in the video that it's a pre-order bonus OR "while stocks last". So this is sounding more like ASRT's Bonus Edition, in which case I'm not worried. I didn't get ASRT until months after it came out and it just kinda happened to be the Bonus Edition. So either I got lucky or it wasn't exactly rare. My only concern is, well:

Here's to hoping this doesn't turn into another Casino Night, if you catch my drift.

Yep.

How much do you wanna bet the Deadly Six edition ends up being exactly like the Transformed Limited Edition?

I pray it isn't European exclusive.

If it is, than I kinda hope the U.S. get's Ristar bosses instead.

Ristar bosses!

But the trailer we just got was an American one.

The game was british as all hell, that's the joke I was making ;A;

Oohhh.

Well, to be fair, if stuff like that actually happened, there's guaranteed the fact that someone's gonna rip it and put it online regardless.

Well, it's hard to make perfect comparisons.

But it would still be an illegal practice, and the companies would aggressively try to pull the rips from the web.

I love how NIGHTS has a british accent

By the way, I love your sig image.

Question

Is this the European version of an American trailer that was already released, only it now has the Deadly Six Edition part added on at the end?

P.S. You have to play as Werehog.

Seriously, though, if that'd actually happen I'd be so mad xD After all my incessant whining about Ristar in ASR and ASRT, SEGA decides to do this JUST to troll me :P

I'd like to see how they'd do that, though. They are built around Ristars powers and they seem much more different to Sonic's than NiGHTS.

Not gonna actually happen, but it's nice to dream.

Exactly, they're the same, but the European one has the Deadly Six Part at the end.
