Quirks when playing Sonic games - "What d'you mean I'm playing this weirdly? I always do this!"

As I mentioned in the Popular and Unpopular Sonic opinions topic, I always go back to visiting hub worlds in Sonic Unleashed(mainly Apotos), so I can just stand around and listen to the music and stare at the gorgeous back drops. It's sort of a time waster, but I can't help it.

- Don't know if this is that weird or not, but I love doing the somersault a lot in SA2 to make homing attacks and stuff look cool.

I just remembered that I tended to do this a lot, I'm not sure why but I just enjoyed somersaulting and doing that backflip-spin-jump thing.

Just remembered a very specific one:

Sky Sanctuary Act 2 in Generations.  You must jump at the last split-second before the goal ring so Sonic flies up into the air before landing every time.  You must.

1. Every time I'm in the Sonic Adventure hubs I spindash and then jump around like a madman and get a shit-ton of air time.

2. Every time I play Sonic CD I have to see the good future for every level or I feel like I failed already.

Everytime I play Sonic Adventure, I try to go places I know are intentionally inaccessable in the hub worlds. I just keep hoping I'll unlock it somehow, I suppose. I've been doing it for seven or eight years now, though; I doubt it'll be accessable at this point.

Well, through enough persistence you can get to Emerald Coast as Amy as well as Tails and Knuckles I believe, but you won't make it very far.  So if you've ever tried doing that, you still have a chance.

Here’s another one: Most of the time when I’m playing the night levels in Unleashed, I have to break everything--otherwise I’m not satisfied.

When you are wanting to get everything out of this game, that sometimes is a real must. It was still always enjoyable breaking all those things and fighting in the game. It was a welcome change from the usual.

In Sonic 1, whenever I defeat Eggman in a level, I tend to have Sonic look up like he's watching Eggman flee. xD

Same here. It just wouldn't feel right otherwise.

haha! well my quirks  are nothing more than failures in disguise!

when I play Radical Highway in SA2, when you go through that wind tunnel part, I just fall in and go through the rolling things instead of doing the bars above them... does that make sense at all?

I also tend to fall into the water, land on spikes, get hit by an enemy when I got no rings left........ I am so bad at these types of things. but I still love it <3.

Sonic Advance 3: - If there a crushing block near by, I always let my partner get crush by it. - I always have Sonic as the leader or partner because he make you go faster when you have him. Sonic Adventure - When I'm playing as Tails in the hub world, I always fly everywhere. Sonic Rush - When I always do a Trick Finisher because I feel like I'm doing it wrong when I don't do a Finisher.

Whenever I'm playing as Tails in Sonic Adventure, I always skip most of the level by flying.

That's not a quirk; that's the only rational way to play those stages.

Here's one: On Emerald Coast and City Escape, I get tempted to restart (and usually end up doing so) if I so much as get hit.  I don't know.  Something about taking damage on the very first level always bothers me in SA1 and 2.

Not sure if this counts, but whenever I'm using the slot machines in Casino Night or the slot machine bonus stages in S3&K, whenever it's apparent that I'm going to get either 3 Eggmans (Eggmen?) or an Eggman/Jackpot combo, I rapidly mash every button on the MD controller. I know it doesn't do anything, but it's a force of habit. biggrin.png

Taunting at every possible opportunity in Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing.

In Heroes, pressing L or R when going through a loop to intentionally mess up the camera.

It's the feeling of "OMG, how could I get hit? It's the first level. I should be better than this! Nope. I gotta try that again. I'm gonna do this the right way."

Don't worry, I feel it too... except I feel it in every playthrough of a Sonic game that isn't my first run. I cut myself some slack then.

Actually, When I do my first playthrough of a new Sonic game or a sonic game I haven't played, I always try to speedrun the first level for some reason.
