Sorry for this rough translation folks, blame Google translate for this one. Anyway, another preview:

Mighty No. 9 Preview - Success on the way?

Who did not grow up with Mega Man? A lot of people, and every gamer knows someone who has been heavily Mega Man fan or wax. The cry for a new Mega Man can not help yet, though everybody will find solace in Mighty No. 9.

Mighty No. 9 is more or less regarded as the spiritual successor to Mega Man, because the child's Keiji Ianfune. Three guesses who had a finger in the pie at Mega Man. Right, so he. And now at the helm of Mighty No. 9, a Kickstarter project. How cool is that?

Meet robot Beck

Mighty No. 9 puts you in the shoes of robot Beck. A creature that maneuvering in 2D levels. His job sounds like Mega Man: other similar robots have become crazy and should be eliminated. Before that, it is first run through levels and quite dashing.

Oh yeah and also shoot. Immediately then had the game in the fingers were enemies we could provide some lead. Just shoot and then a final blow with a dash. And then it's a matter of absorbing it! The energy of opponents until you take your word or faster or stronger.

Like it or not

The question is how this plays out. Good. The first impression of Mighty No. 9 is fine, more than fine even. The game plays smoothly, and is much less difficult than Mega Man. You just have to love the stijltje, because that is very robotic suffused with science fiction elements.

The question remains unanswered after a play session how different the game is so attractive in the long term. For only a little walk back and forth and some shooting and dashing is not enough. But a play session is too short to judge that.

Dashen but

One thing that is addictive is the rhythm of the game. Because dashing enemies consecutively unwell. They just shot down and wait for them to explore is also an option, but so tasty dashing feel better.

It you have partly nostalgic feelings when someone calls 'good' or 'great'. It's old, but placed in a modern age. And that goes for the entire game. Clearly visible are influences from Mega Man giving those fans are really catered Mighty No. 9. But simultaneously it is no Mega Man and certainly a game from the here and now.

Good luck on the way?

It's good to see how Kickstart Projects are becoming increasingly well off the ground. Just take Shenmue 3 last E3. And Project CARS earlier this year, of course, a resounding success. It could well be that Mighty No. 9 same side rises. Anyone who loves Mega Man must keep an eye on this robot game. Who knows what the game has in store.

So, apparently we're getting a delay to 2016

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2015/07/31/mighty-no.-9-will-not-release-in-2015.aspx?utm_content=buffer3588b&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

Game Informer has received additional information about the quiet delay of Mighty No. 9, with further substantiation that it will miss its September 15 release. The game does not have a new release date, but the most recent information reaffirms that retailer listings of 2016 are accurate.

GameStop (Disclosure: GameStop is Game Informer’s parent company) tells us on background that notification of delays such as this one are initiated by the publisher. This includes placeholder dates that are put in place when a game is first listed or, in this case, delayed. This indicates that the 2016 placeholder was driven by Deep Silver and Comcept, both of whom we've reached out to for comment.

Deep Silver declined to comment on the matter and Comcept did not return our request for a statement by publication. We’ll update should either get back to us.

Comcept is currently in the final days of the Red Ash Kickstarter. The campaign is over $300,000 away from funding, with backers canceling pledges yesterday after an announcement that Chinese company Fuze will fund development.

This morning, Comcept repurposed the $800,000 Kickstarter as “stretch” goals to add to the core game. These include another playable character, a mini-game triggered after the main story, and a combat-focused dungeon.

Mighty No. 9 was promised for delivery in April 2015 during the Kickstarter campaign. The title is planned for 10 platforms: Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Wii U, Vita, 3DS, PC, Mac, and Linux.

Man, I warned people about Inafune ever since this kickstarter was created.......

Why do i have the feeling that part of the 4 millions of Mighty No.9 have been transferred in order to found Red Ash?

Wasn't this confirmed as untrue by this point? The recent update I posted from Comcepts page said september also known as "MIghty Month"

and this

In that same thread on the last page, Best Buy sent someone an email saying it was delayed to 12/31 and GameStop got a notice recently for a delay. It would be one thing if it was just Amazon, but now 2 stores have joined.

Wow what the heck is going on at comcept? I want to play devils advocate for a second. What if they're not talking about the console release but instead it's the 3DS and vita version especially since we haven't seen gameplay of it. It just something to keep in the air. But if Im wrong then what the hell happened? They said that in the beginning of the year the development was already finished and what they were doing was working on the promotion. Something is fishy it doesn't help that we've only seen 1 official trailer of the finial product. All I can say now is that this game better be damn good game because with all the BS that this company has been pulling within the last year is causing me to lose faith in them.

You bring up an interesting point with this. Forget the fact I forgot it was even coming to handhelds, I forgot it was being developed by an entirely different team. It could be a possibility.

I'm really hoping that this is a mistake, this and MGSV were the two games I was really looking forward to at the end of the month :(

Delay confirmed by Deep Silver (use google translate)

http://www.maniac.de/content/news-mighty-no-9-offenbar-auf-2016-verschoben-update-verschiebung-bestaetigt-226569

Steam still lists the game for September 15th

This company's all out of feet to shoot themselves in. This whole experience is Sonic 4 all over again.

We now have an official Statement on the official Mighty No. 9 Forums, reconfirming the delay to Q1 2016. (since it's backers only, here's the neogaf link). Appearently, there are still quite a few bugs in the online modes.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1090563

I would check if the forums would get me my password reset instructions but its not happening.

EDIT: Never mind its officially confirmed in backers emails. Its one thing after another for Comcept ain't it?

Do you think that if they were honest from the get go the Red Ash stuff would of gone better?

Maybe a little smoother, but I still couldn't see it reaching it's funding goal. I mean the main reason a lot of people didn't donate to it was because Comcept's first game didn't drop yet.

I'm...okay with this? I mean, experience from Miyamoto: 'a delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever'? I don't particularly want to play a buggy game.

At this point I think they're trying as hard as possible to be a mismanaged train wreck of biblical proportions.  Game's probably going to be fine, but goddamn.

Its not the delay thats the problem its how they're handling this game thats the problem. They waited until the Red Ash stuff is over(and apparently there's another kickstarter for the anime in Japan) to announce this even though sites and stores have reported that this was happening a for weeks now. Mighty no.9 will most definitely be a good game it's Mega Man after all and these people have years of experience under their belt. But the way that they've been handling this game is just a mess and feels shady.

  • 4 weeks later...

Latest Kickstarter update reports that a trial version of Mighty No. 9 with 4 playable stages, cutscenes, voice & subtitle options and retro soundtrak will be available to all backers for September 15th and will run for a month. Doesn't mention how you can play though.

It still baffles me how a game like this, having more than $3 million under its belt in a Kickstarter, could look so mediocre in comparison to Shantae Half Genie Hero which got less than a million in its Kickstarter.

It's simple, Gabz. It goes to show that not always is the budget that counts, but the people involved in it.

Wayforward knows what its doing. Comcept probably doesn't.
