Carbo 17,023 Posted September 8, 2013 Spoilers by their nature are constituted by radical shifts, events or anything that has the potential to impede on the enjoyment of particular media. The threshold of this always varies between user to user, and for these boards we have some set specific guidelines on the proper usage of them, as well as when not to use them. How do you wrap posts in a spoiler tab? Wrap your text in the following tag. [spoiler]Sean is slightly gay for Remy[/spoiler]The result of using the above wrap in the common post space will create a spoiler tab like this. Sean is actually completely gay for Remy It's his taste in anime that speaks out to me -Sean The current IP Board has two forms for posting that you can switch between by using the light switch-like button in the toolbar above your post form. One is for source editing where you have to write out tags and code on your own. The other formats code automatically and previews it, making life a bit easier for you. By default, your post form should have automatically turned on BB Code formatting. If it's turned on, in turn making your toolbar accessible, you can also have text automatically wrapped for you by using the Special BB Code button. Select "Spoiler" from the drop down menu and write in your text. When you write your spoiler, keep in mind that the point of concealing media is that users are not supposed to deduce events through sloppy tagging. A perfect example at this kind of terrible execution would be spoiler tagging names or characters while leaving everything else surrounding them unspoiled. A bad example at this: "Wow, I had no idea that Nathan Drake would be killed by Banjo-Kazooie using Eggman's wise-crack machine" An example on how to properly tag a spoiler would be like such: Sonic Dimensions Act 20 Spoilers: Mario killed Sephiroth? That explains why Robotnik could give birth to Lime the Hedgehog Keep in mind that it's imperative that you're making it clear what you are about to spoil. There's nothing worse than being set up for a red herring or not being aware what the spoiler pertains to. Any troll attempts at this or terribly defined spoilers will not go down kindly with staff. Additional Guidelines and Rules Any promotional media that is intentionally and officially revealed by the outlet of publishing is not considered a spoiler. These are permitted to be employed on your own in contexts including signatures and avatars. Any trailers, images or previews are free reign and designated to be posted freely in their official topics. (This goes to you people spoiling Review scores as well. Come on guys, that shit is pointless and no one cares to click for an arbitrary number. People will find out anyway if there's a point in discussing them) Information of the sort that is leaked through user hands-on (press vault image discoveries or portfolio scavenging non-withstanding) is considered a spoiler, and should be tagged accordingly. Exceptions to these guidelines can apply to topics that are specifically and explicitly dedicated to spoiler discussion. Topics based around ongoing media such as TV shows and comics are to employ spoiler tags when discussing promotional material. Discussing recently released developments of such media without the use of spoiler tags is permitted. The reason for this is because these kinds of topics update on a regular basis and revolve around frequent discussion surrounding new entries in media and developments. Frequent spoiler tagging of this clutters discussion, and it's otherwise recommended to stay clear of topics like these until you catch up. For people following these topics, spoilers are usually attributed to events that aren't meant to be revealed yet. Status Updates are to stay completely clear from spoilers. Going into topics that contain spoiler discussion or tagged spoilers is a conscious decision. Witnessing open discussions about them in a space where people casually converse and aren't able to tag them is not. If this rule is violated, your status privileges will be removed. Follow these guidelines and it's all steady sailing. 54 Sonic the Hedgehog in 3D, Sean, Mania Pipe and 51 others reacted to this
