It's a 12 episode anime, they kinda have to .

It is? Huh, I thought it would be the same amount as TTGLs.

I heard it was 26 episodes? I'm hoping it is 12 now, 26 seems like a long stretch to drag this out for.

I am 90% sure it's a 26 episode show. I'm also 90% this plot is going to escalate in ways not apparent at the moment, and the school thing will either become ridiculous or fall into the background when a bigger threat appears D:

24 eps then. It's common practice to divide the shows in concurrent seasons- IIRC TTGL did it too, for an example.

Just watched the first episode there, oh my god that was insane. This is my first time watching anything even remotely like this, and I'm happy I decided to give it a try.

Yeah, it can be a little fanservice-y in some places, but I think that works with the humor of the show.

Fan-fucking-tastic, this thing is.

EDIT: Holy shit, episode 2 is even better. (Fanservice on both sides, eh?)

I personally can't see this anime going past the 12 episode mark unless there's some sort of ridiculous plot twist revealed towards a later episode and it stretches to two seasons equaling 20+ episodes. I mean, she's practically taking down some sort of Goku Uniform member in every episode, I rather it be short and sweet than dragged on.

To be fair Gurren kinda worked the same way for a bit too where Simon and Kamina started taking names almost every episode, then around the halfway point things drastically changed. Seeing as this is the same team I'm expecting something similar to happen.

Considering the anime is throwing a ton of plot curve balls at us, it'll definitely extend into a season 2.

I mean Senketsu needs to regain his memory, Ryuko needs to find out about her dad, Sensei is shady and seems to know more about Senketsu and Ryuko than he's letting on, Ryuko has yet to locate the other half of her scissor blade, she still needs to beat the 2 star and 3 star goku captains, Senketsu needs to upgrade to his former self etc.

There's a lot of plot there, and like Remz said, I have a feeling the academy is going to be the least of Ryuko's problems later on.

So I just finished watching episode 3 (its out).

It definitely is ramping up hardcore now, this episode was incredibly intense and it seemed like a little bit more of the budget was poured into this one compared to the last couple. A lot of story elements were woven in here (is that a pun I can't even tell). The first couple episodes feel like a warm up compared to what is coming next so yeah - I'm extremely excited to see where things go now.

Oooh, good to know it's out. Gonna start watching it now, I'm pumped for it.

Hopefully this'll show more of the direction it's going to take.

Hmmm, I dunno, everything felt forced in this episode. I thought the fight was nice but the fanservice felt so forced and obnoxious.

I felt like it was needed, at least just to push the story on. It's a decent set-up for what we can expect to see in the following episodes.

I'm not talking about that, I meant the fanservice, I know its always been there but, it was so in my face that I just rolled my eyes through most of it. It was just kind of rediculous. Like, I so would have prefered more action over close up shots of crotches and tits.

.....Yea, this episode was kinda stupid with all of the fanservice. And ya know, still expecting us to take it seriously.

I don't think that was ever the intention, but overall I just think the massive shot of tits, ass, and crotches took away from the action. If like it, that's all well and good, not knocking you for it.

I still had no problem with it and took it seriously. Then again since day 1 I've kinda thought all of it was badass so w/e. Different strokes I guess.

3 episodes in and I'm long past the point of caring about fanservice at this point, the action was still good and it all tied into the main message of the episode of how being embarrassed of the suit made her weak and etc

So yeah, it was a good episode

I care not for the fanservice because I know what Trigger are like as a collective and it was indeed ridiculous to the point that you know they're intending it to be that way.

Sooo seeing how many clubs there are...yeah, this is a 24-26 episode series.

I absolutely loved episode 3! The action was really good in this particular episode too. As far as the fanservice goes, I'm past the point of caring at this point. At least they don''t seem to do it over the top like they did in High School of the Dead.

High School of the Porn you mean? Though I'll be honest episode 3 was cool, despite my fanservice gripes, which is strange because I have HSOTD as a guilty pleasure lol.

I love the anime, if anything I don't think of Fanservice as annoying or obnoxious... I think of it as a plus, because take it out and keep the action as is and it's still a pretty damn good series. Given, I still feel that it's being rushed a bit but yeah... can't wait for episode 4

To be honest, I'm not really as hyped as I was after the first episode.  The ending of this episode basically confirmed my fear that it's a monster of the week series.  I don't mind that if there's variety, but it's only the third episode and there's already a pretty basic formula for each episode.  Exposition scene at school -> Ryuko's home life in slums -> Comic relief with Mako -> Introduce villain -> Satsuki tells villain to spare Ryuko while she runs away -> Learn more about backstory and Senketsu -> Confront villain -> Villain starts kicking Ryuko ass -> More Mako -> DON'T LOSE YOUR WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY -> Ryuko starts kicking villain's ass -> Cliffhanger with Satsuki.  It's not like I'm not enjoying it or anything, but I'd be severely disappointed if all 26 episodes are just that.  It basically feels like a Saturday Morning Cartoon for adults.  But then again, so was Gurren Lagann for 8 episodes until it completely 180'd, so I'm still open to whatever tricks it might throw.
