Eh. I dunno.I don't know if you can apply the logic like that.

Nintendo didn't dodge the silver bullet with Other M and Metroid was as AAA as they come. That franchise still hasn't recovered and just scrapped Prime 4 to start over. They know they are under the scope to produce.

Fallout and MGS just got sniped by 2 silver bullets in MGS Survive and Fallout 76. Those arn't first party games, but I think they would qualify as AAA franchises. Time will tell the damage that happens there.

I mean, I would like to think that the companies involved could do more from letting this kind of thing get so far out of hand, but hindsight is 20/20. We could cide Sega for makeing similar mistakes multiple times, but 06 was a perfect storm....

I agree the scars left by 06 are still visible, but there is no way you can say the series hasn't been ambitious. Unleashed in of itself was a all hands on deck back to the drawing board approach oozing with ambition. It redefined the next 10 years of Sonic games and you can feel the effort put behind it just by looking and listening to it. The exotic locales. the authentic musics, the new engine, Sonic Team buckled down and upped the ambition for that one. Even Rise of Lyric was a part of an incredibly ambitious multi-pronged assault to launch a new offshoot of the franchise. Boom was supposed to be its own thing - and they came out swinging with 2 games, a comic and a TV show. Funny how the games were the thing that dragged the whole operation down.

As bad as 06 was, it hasn't diminished the ambitions of the franchise. Its too strong for that. The movie won't change that either. Bioware didn't scare them off from western developers despite that shooting them in the foot. Boom's demise won't stop another TV series from popping up 6 or 7 years from now.

The series will do what it always has. Sidestep them find some new master plan to hitch its wagon to and roll with that until it can't. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

I don't know too much about the Metroid series beyond that it stars a woman called Samus, that the Metroids are actually jellyfish-like aliens, that the first game had a maze of samey-looking doors, and yes; Other M got a lot of complaints.  However, if they were due to it being a blatantly unfinished glitchfest instead of just bad design, that is literally the first time I've ever heard of a Nintendo game being a blatantly unfinished glitchfest.  (Fallout I believe, since I experienced New Vegas.)  Shigeru Miyamoto's most famous quote, that a delayed game is eventually good while a bad game is bad forever, may not be as true now that patches exist, and it may not save a game that is broken conceptually, but it sure saved Nintendo from Sonic 06-level debacles so far as I can remember.

Sega doesn't have such ethics.  They haven't taken full responsibility for their meddling and rushing ruining what had been (with the exception of the beastiality) a solid formula, and since then, what you call "ambition" to me seems more like changing the formula into something simple enough not to be ruined in such a way.  After Sonic 06 and up until Sonic Mania, "improving" this series has largely consisted of pulling out a lot of things that weren't necessarily broken, putting in other things that weren't necessarily solid, and ultimately making the series more different from its original incarnation than ever.  But that's not a discussion for this thread.

I'm increasingly convinced it's going to be a trailer shown before Detective Pikachu.  With as much buzz as there's been comparing the two, it makes sense to do that.

I wonder if Paramount is waiting until AFTER Detective Pikachu has left theaters to release it. Pikachu has gotten a lot of positive buzz (Eh) whereas Sonic has been harshly criticized.

Maybe they're waiting for the public to forget about Pikachu before showing off Sonic? The two have been compared a lot.

Idk. It's gonna be fun to watch the internet implode when that trailer is finally released.

Oh I doubt it.

Trailer SHOULD be attached to the movie. Massively wasted opportunity if its not.

Is the movie likely to be PG or PG-13? Detective Pikachu is rated PG. I know this film is going to be for the whole family. Maybe it will be PG-13, because it will definitely contain a lot of action.

I mean, even if it is PG-13, It could still be attached to Pikachu. I saw the Pikachu trailer with Shazam and that was also aimed at families

Isn't there some rule about ratings and not showing trailers above the rating the film  showing is?

No, higher rated films get advertised at lower rated ones as long as the trailer is clean enough. Wreck-It Ralph is a Disney movie but I remember seeing at least two Trailers for films that ended up PG-13 (One of them was probably a Fast and Furious movie or Mission Impossible, hard to say since that was awhile ago)

We still have EveningStar.  Or at least, we could have EveningStar again; this time making a Sonic game that has more original content.  Sega likes money, is opportunistic about getting it, and will take Sonic some bad places if that provides an opportunity to make money...but will also take it some good places.  I say to the fans, keep making fan projects; you never know when Sega will repeat its rare good idea of hiring fangamers to make an official Sonic game.

The series will more than likely still be around after the movie of course, but there likely won't be anything good to come out of it, and if there is, it'll probably just be another blue moon situation. Sonic will likely become a franchise zombie for the most part like he has been (bar a few exceptions) since 2006. I really hope that won't be the case, but given the track record of this series I'd honestly be kind of surprised if this series becomes able to produce consistently good content in the foreseeable future.

I mean... still, the Sonic movie not by made by SEGA doesn't mean that every new game will be a failure. The series resuming to business as usual (mostly mediocre, with an exceptional title here and there) after the movie comes out wouldn't make it the official marker of the death of the franchise's quality. It'd just be a thing that happened, and then things continue as they have for the past years.

Amazing fanmade music video featuring Squigglydigg!

I like it! This sounds like it could be the official song for the movie.

It sounds quite similar to the Sonic Mania trailer theme.  Maybe that's the point; if not...hmm.

I think she will be some random girl who will help Sonic and the Cop. Or maybe, she will play an veterinarian who work at an small town animal hospital?

Back in July,  one of my guesses of what role of Tika Sumpter will be playing as was that she will be an veterinarian. According to that Reddit leak, Tika will played an veterinarian named Annie. So, I got a lucky guess, eh?

0:27 Yup, you guessed right.

I hope we get a scene where Tom comes in with a pet cage after tranquilizing Sonic..

Tom: Hey, so um, You treat animals here right?

Annie: Of course.

Tom: Good, because I got something you've probably never seen before.

Annie: Oh please. In my line of work, you see 'em all. Cats, dogs, horses..

(Unconsious Sonic plops onto table)

Annie: (recoils in shock) WOAH! WHAT THE HECK IS THAT THING!?!

So, I find out in this interview that Jim Carrey say that he isn’t a big gamer, but he does play games with his son.

Or perhaps IDW, too.

Sorry if someone already talked about this, and if it was proven false, but someone uploaded this video with a box that has the logo on it. They also claimed in the comments that they've seen the official design and that it looks similar to the image leaks except the shoes are different and the eyes look better. However some random guy commented "it's fake", and I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

Wow, never seen this before. I look at the date. It was uploaded a few days after the teaser poster were released. Also, I see that the box say flat card standee. Could it be the Golden Gate Bridge Poster inside the box?
