PM notification not working

Me and a friend of mine are talking a lot through private messaging, and today my friend noticed that he's suddenly not being informed of new messages. Once he told me, I realized the same thing was happening to me: the little envelope icon at the top of the page no longer changes when I receive a new message.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Have you been on the mobile mode when the PM was sent? 

 

If so that can sometimes cause it.

I'm using the site from my phone, but I view it in web mode. The notifications have been working fine until now.

I have been missing PM notifications as well, on Google chrome, Thief of hearts theme.

  I am not sure if any of that helps there, but I have been missing PM notifications as well

It's off and on for me. Sometimes I'll get the notifications just fine, other times I don't notice a new message until I happen to click the envelope and see it for myself.
