Marvel's Agents of Shield

Well, this show started last year, it is tied into the MCU, and is the first live marvel show with a decent run since the Incredible hulk with Bill Bixby and Lou Feringo. It centers around the adventures of Agent Couslon and his team in the Marvel universe

We are currently back on weekly episodes, and are currently in an Arc/event called uprising, that is alson including a major crossover from a movie character, and is leading up to Captian America Winter Soldier

While the show did start out a tad slow it has recently been exponentialy improving, and this latest episode was great, and if you did stop watching the show you may want to reconsider and give it another go, it is much better than it was at the start

So ya, here is the place to discuss the latest episodes and show in general, sorry if this opening post isnt the most organized, but I kinda felt this thread was overdue

And a final thought, this show has been a great place to introduce supervillains that wouldnt have enough time to be developed in a film due to being a c or d teir, or just the limitaions of movie time, and up to date 4 have had origin stories on the show

Blizzard, Deathlok, Gravitron, and now it appears the Enchantress is showing up

Oh, and a major plot point of the series has been the matter of Agent Coulsons return from the dead, and while we thought it had been revealed, the web has been proven to be much more tangled than thought by tonights episode

Its got its rough parts, and its earlier episodes are a tad weak, however yes, especialy the later episodes, it has been getting better, and the show is quite good, but has had to use the early episodes to make a base that would be able to interact with the full marvel universe

So yes its good, if you are willing to tolerate some weaker episodes, and I would reccomend, and if you go in with an open mind and accept it for what it is you will proably enjoy it

Not a fan. Watched the first load put on in the UK, its still to come back. Even when it does, I just watch for Coulson. The other characters are so stereotypically bland in my opinion and I can't stand any of them.

Being honest, I only was interested in the show when they said it'll reveal how Coulson survived.

Turns out he's a body clone or something?

Desperately wanted to love this show and went into it with an open mind, but the more episodes I watched it really felt like a weak series with flat pretty characters taking on uninteresting threats. For the most part it feels like an obvious vehicle to bring more male viewers to the ABC network. Until the last couple of episodes I would've just written this series off, maybe it's hit it's stride? Maybe it's a fluke? Hopefully it's the former.

But for real they need to stop dragging out Coulson's resurrection, at this point it's more irritating than anything else.

Not a whole lot of interesting things have been done with the series yet enough so I'd say wait till they rap up the season. Just to see if they can deliver with the series.

Sif is showing up in the next episode, and things are now leading up to CAWS now

- For a show based on a Super Hero world, not one member has any super hero abilities

- Not enough references to other characters / groups

- Episodes started to get repetitive ( there's a problem, they use a giant carrier to fly 6 people to another country, things get complicated with Skye, solve the problem, more questions arise over Coulson )

The first one is the only point I don't agree with. I find it much more interesting that most of the organization isn't full of supers and still have to take on major threats. Though they could substitute that for more impressive sci-fi advanced weaponry and/or resources.

It's not that the show is bad, I'd still be watching if it were a little more interesting.. but I promised myself I'd catch up if X-Men, Fantastic Four or Spider-Man ever make an appearance

Not gonna happen, those go to Fox and Universal. Though I'll call it now expect to see the Netflix Marvel Heroes show up at some point for promotional means. Though I agree the show is painfully safe.

Update! an actor for Glenn Talbot has just been cast for the show, So he is showing up, SOON, do you guys realize what this means?!

oh the article http://screenrant.com/agents-shield-glenn-talbot-actor/

‘Agents of SHIELD’: Adrian Pasdar Cast as Glenn Talbot

Published by Jason Tabrys

adrian-pasdar-aos.jpg

Adrian Pasdar has given voice to animated Marvel heroes like Hawkeye and Iron Man before on Marvel’s Avengers Assemble and The Ultimate Spider-Man, but now he’s going to see what its like on the other side of the coin as the actor is set to join the cast of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. where he will play General Glenn Talbot, a character he describes as a “sanctimonious jerk.”

Pasdar, who previously played Nathan Petrelli on Heroes, is the latest notable guest star to appear on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., following Bill Paxton’s extended stint as John Garrett and Jaimie Alexander’s appearance as Lady Sif last night, but while we don’t know what impact Talbot will have on the show and on Coulson’s team, it’s clear that Pasdar is committed to getting the part down.

For that, we can thank Pasdar’s son, a serious sounding comic book fan who led the charge to get his father over to Midtown Comics in Manhattan to bone up on Talbot – an ally of General “Thunderbolt” Ross’ and a rival of the Hulk’s – once he heard that the role was his; research that the actor deemed necessary due to his view of the source material’s importance in shaping his portrayal.

Here is Pasdar’s comment, on that subject:

“I didn’t want to base it on the excellent work that had come before, in “Marvel’s The Avengers” and things like that. I just wanted to dig deep into the comics where it came from. And that’s what I got to do, through the help of the good folks of Midtown Comics in New York City, I was able to bring this guy to life through a series of pictures and just the graphic imagery, the novels and the cartoons that I was able to access through their help. Really, in the end, that’s what it’s based on. As much as you’re playing a [comic book] guy. I learned this through Iron Man, it really doesn’t matter what I think about who he is because everybody has such a huge idea about what they think the guy is. You have to meet their expectations rather than define it by your own, and it’s not pandering at all. It’s just a little more difficult way of bringing something to life. You can’t just rely on your instincts and your imagination, you have to match up with what the expectations are from the people who are hiring you and watching you.”

agents-of-shield-episode-6.jpg

As for how long Talbot will stick around for, right now, we just don’t know, but when asked if fans can “expect to see much more of him down the line?”, Pasdar answered in the affirmative.

“Oh yeah. I would imagine. As willing as I am to jump when Jeph (Loeb) calls, there had to be a little bit more in it than just an episode for me. So I can’t say much more but the mustache is in a locker and it’s being taken out and prepped as we speak for next week. Every show needs a jerk, [and] I guess I’m that guy. I make everybody else look so nice.”

Though the question isn’t posed in the interview, one has to wonder if we might see Talbot (who was played by Josh Lucas in Ang Lee’s Hulk film) pop up in another Marvel project as well, particularly one that could allow him to face off against the Hulk (unless a Mark Ruffalo cameo on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is on the table, of course).

Talbot’s interaction with S.H.I.E.L.D. isn’t out of left field, but his history with the big green guy and Bruce Banner is enormous (no pun) by comparison, so it just seems natural to imagine Pasdar facing off against Ruffalo (who might be less of a gut-punch to the AoS budget) at some point, even if there is zero evidence to support such a thing beside that comic book backstory that Pasdar is now thoroughly up on.

‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ to Feature Patton Oswalt as a Guest Star

Published by Jason Tabrys

patton-oswalt-agents-of-shield-koenig1.j

Marvel keeps adding adjunct pieces to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., tabbing comedian, actor, and nerd conscience Patton Oswalt to play the part of Agent Eric Koenig for a guest spot on the ABC series.

Oswalt, whose appearance will surely excite hardcore fans since he is one of our own, follows in the footsteps of other fan favorites like Aliens actor Bill Paxton as John Garrett and Heroes alum Adrian Pasdar as Glenn Talbot, but he surely isn’t coming aboard for buzz alone.

Oswalt is an accomplished character actor who has delivered poignant performances in Big Fan, Young Adult, and a guest spot on the Joss Whedon produced Dollhouse. (Oswalt also wrote a one-shot Firefly comic book in 2010.) He’s very much an asset on any project, and it seems like he is as giddy as a child to get the chance to be in this particular project, though it seems as if he is also a little bit conflicted.

Here’s Oswalt telling Marvel.com about the blessing and the curse of being on a Marvel show:

“When you’re in something, now you know what’s coming. A big part of me is still a big consumer of this stuff. I have friends now that write some of the comics, and they’ll send me issues, [but] I like having to wait until every Wednesday and get it once a month. That’s sort of part of the story for me. It’s that push-pull of, I want to know stuff now, but I also like the waiting is part of the fun. [Marvel’s] doing so much stuff [though], and now with the Netflix [deal], there’s always going to be enough to wait for and rub my hands together for. That will never be a problem.”

patton-oswalt-agents-of-shield-parks.jpg

Speaking of that push-pull, Oswalt revealed his losing campaign to avoid asking about spoilers while on set before offering up a bit of praise for Marvel – though, at this point, it seems pretty obvious that he’s just buttering them up in an effort to get Koenig into the Star Wars/Marvelverse amalgam film that Oswalt pitched on Parks and Recreation.

“They introduced Agent Garrett, who’s one of my favorite Marvel characters, and I kept asking them on the set, ‘is he going to be an android [like in the comics]?’ [...] They’re just like, ‘you’ll have to wait and see.’ They clearly have plans. This is not the mid-‘90s anymore where they just handed comic book properties to anybody, they’re thinking I’m making a comic book [TV series] in this awesome universe and I don’t want to mess it up. And that’s a different motivation than what was happening in the ‘90s, and that’s real cool. I’m glad that changed, that they’re giving them to guys that welcome the tension of, ‘how do I make popular entertainment that still acknowledges this big fanbase that cares about this universe? And if I’m going to change things, can I do it in a way that makes them go oh wow?’”

With regard to Koenig, Oswalt didn’t offer up much of anything at all, but he did joke a bit about his research for the role.

“When they first told me the character’s name, I’ll admit the first thing I did is I went on Wikipedia and looked up the M.O.D.O.K. character to see if Koenig was maybe his name before he became M.O.D.O.K., but it wasn’t,” laughs Oswalt. “They keep on talking about the Clairvoyant in the show and I’m like, ‘is that M.O.D.O.K.? Am I M.O.D.O.K.?”

In the comics, Koenig is a Nick Fury ally, but also a former Nazi who later switched allegiances and joined the Howling Commandos. He was also a spy at one point. As for Koenig’s role on the show, there is nothing to indicate if Oswalt’s character will stick around for more than one episode.

It’s fair to wonder if his appearance will be sparked by whatever (if any) changes come to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. following the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but we just don’t know. Someone of Oswalt’s caliber isn’t someone you’d burn off for a minor, one-off role though, right?

Blue Alien in ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Explained – What Does It Mean For Coulson?

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is currently on break (again) before returning next week on April 1st to complete its final non-stop run until its season finale on May 13th, and more than ever the wait has been unbearable for fans following along. The latest few sporadic episodes were host to several major revelations along with more unanswered questions, as information about Agent Coulson’s miraculous recovery and Skye’s mysterious origins begins to surface.

While we don’t exactly know why just yet, Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) is special (read our theories here). He’s not a normal agent and because of that, he was forced to endure an “inhuman” series of operations to bring him back to life. He should have been dead but S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury “moved heaven and earth” to ensure that he lived, providing Coulson with special treatment that no ordinary S.H.I.E.L.D. agent or officer would ever receive. But thanks to the operations that had him begging to die, Coulson is back… but he’s different.

Coulson now leads a special ops team that’s growing increasingly suspicious with the organization they work for, and with the help of Agent John Garrett (Bill Paxton), they managed to locate a secret bunker run by an unknown group housing the mysterious cure that saved Coulson in the first place. This “cure” is simply known as GH-325, but as we now know, it’s not of human origins.

The blue serum we saw injected into Coulson during his operation is the same blue juice we saw siphoned off the the remains of a blue being. It wasn’t human and the revelation shocked Coulson, who’s dealt with otherworldly beings before, to the point of being speechless. The GH-325 worked on him and it worked on Skye, saving her life as well. It worked on her because she, similar to what we believe about Coulson, isn’t quite normal either. We learned in episode 12 (“Seeds”) a bit of her backstory where agents died protecting her as a child and that she’s a 084, a code S.H.I.E.L.D. uses to label an “object of unknown origin.” More on that later.

Agents-of-SHIELD-Blue-Alien-Face-Closeup

The immediate mystery, now that Skye is safe and sound, seemingly healthy with normal DNA, is about the alien. The following week in episode 15 (“Yes Men”) – and still the most recent episode – a pair of Asgardians come to Earth, including of course the fan-fave warrior, Lady Sif (Jaimie Alexander) from Thor and Thor: The Dark World. Coulson rightfully took the opportunity to ask Sif about blue aliens and in a showcase of the Marvel Comics knowledge the writers of the series have, they listed off some of the possibilities, narrowing down the possibilities of what the blue being really is. Here are six Marvel alien species the blue man could originate from (with some Wikipedia text for details).

  • Interdites – A humanoid race with blue skin, they have developed precognition as well as other psionic powers. They come from the planet Interdis, seventh from the sun in the Tartaru star system in the Milky Way galaxy. Their civilization was demolished by the Badoon, and surviving Interdites have turned to mysticism and live like hermits scattered across the galaxy. First seen in Warlock #15 (November 1974).
  • Levians – A humanoid race with blue skin that otherwise looks very similar to Earth humans. Surviving Levians live aboard the “world-ship” Levianon. Their homeworld Levia was destroyed as they depleted the planet of magma and resources. First seen in Thor #256 (February 1977).
  • Pheragots – A semi-humanoid race with light blue skin that averages 10′ in height. They come from the planet Arago-7 in the Arago star system in the Andromeda galaxy. They have extraordinary superhuman strength due in part to their dense molecular structure. First seen in Hercules #1 (September 1982).
  • Kree - Also known as the Ruul, they are a scientifically and technologically advanced militaristic alien race in the fictional Marvel Universe. They are native to the planet Hala in the Large Magellanic Cloud. Their first on-panel appearance was in Fantastic Four #65 (August 1967), created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
  • Sarks – A humanoid race with light blue skin, standing 6’1″ on average. They come from the planet Sarka, third from the sun in the Tilnast star system in the Milky Way galaxy. Sarks were among the highest officials in the Universal Church of Truth. Captain Autolycus is a Sark. First seen in Strange Tales #179 (April 1975).
  • Centaurians – First appeared in The Marvel Super Heroes. A humanoid race with blue skin and a sizeable red dorsal fin along the back and atop their head that gives them an average height of 7 feet (2.1 m). Some demonstrate “psionic” abilities. They are a primitive tribal race, using bows and arrows in hunting. Centaurians are native to Centauri IV, Yondu of the Guardians of the Galaxy is a Centaurian.

We won’t even bother mentioning the Frost Giants because it’s not a possibility. The Kree and Centaurians stand out the most since both are featured in Guardians of the Galaxy, hitting theaters in August. The Kree is the race of Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace), the primary antagonist of Guardians and Yondu (Michael Rooker) – another new character in the film – is a Centaurian.

If we look closely at the scarring and details on the remains of Mr. Blue Man, we can see white markings seemingly etched or tattooed on his left pectoral muscle. Here’s a closer look:

Agents-of-SHIELD-Blue-Alien-Kree-Tattoo.

Look familiar? Check out this photo we snapped at Toy Fair of Ronan the Accuser and look closely as this chest armor:

Ronan-the-Accuser-Action-Figure-Hasbro-G

Ronan the Accuser Toy

Interesting match, right? Similar cross-line markings appear on the Ronan LEGO and Minimates toy figures. We were saving this discussion for another article – which we still may augment and post – about what we know the Kree body, Skye, Coulson and other interesting Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. connections and mysteries but Chloe Bennet had to go spoil it for us at Payleyfest 2014 (skip to 1:30 mark):

So, it’s not longer a question or mystery. The blue alien is a Kree. Agent Coulson and Agent Skye have Kree blood inside of them and somehow, S.H.I.E.L.D. or another shady organization knows about the species and has housed this body for sometime. Where did it come from? Is Coulson Kree as well? Remember, in the comics there are the blue Kree we see above and the pink Kree which are much more human in appearance.

Could this plot point lead to those old rumors about Agent Coulson becoming or actually already being some version of Captain Mar-Vell from the comics? The horrifying operations that saved Coulson’s life and messed with his memories – could they have involved the transfer of memories from the alien into him?

We won’t get too deep into comics lore (in this post, anyway) but in the Ultimate Marvel universe, from which much of the cinematic universe draws inspiration from, Captain Marvel (Mahr Vehl) looks human (can disguise himself) and is named Geheneris HalaSon. He’s a Kree spy sent to Earth who switches sides, crosses paths with Nick Fury and Thanos. Could that name be what the “GH” in the show actually means instead of “Guest House” as Fitz and Simmons surmised in episode 14 when they located the bunker housing the alien? Adding to this theory, the Ultimate version of Captain Marvel takes on the human alias “Philip Lawson” and that’s not too far off from “Phil Coulson” even if it is a stretch.

Ultimate-Captain-Marvel-Mahr-Vehl-570x32

Mahr Vehl

We hope this is some fun food for thought to hold you over until next week’s return of the series where more information will slowly unravel. Needless to say, the cast and crew keep hyping up the tagline “everything is connected” and with rumors that Ms. Marvel may still appear in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and a lot more aliens coming our way later this year in Guardians of the Galaxy, perhaps Coulson and Skye have a much larger role to play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Yeah, so many people already reached this conclusion. No real surprise.

Eh while I'm on I might as well contribute with updates.

Here's our new Deathlok: Deathlok-Concept-Art.jpg

Not that the comic design is great, but at least I could tell what it was going for. This is... something (words fail me).

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’: Patrick Brennan to Play Blackout

Season 1 of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hasn’t gotten the best reviews from critics or viewers, but the series does seem to be pulling out all the stops for its last set of episodes before the season finale on May 13th. From special guest stars to iconic villains and connections with the films, there’s suddenly a lot for hardcore genre and comic fans to ponder and process.

The first four all-new exciting episodes begins this week on April 1st with the return of Bill Paxton as Agent Garrett, while April 8th will deal with the fallout from the events of film Captain America: The Winter Soldier. However, it’s the April 15th episode that fans definitely won’t want to miss with the first appearances of Adrian Pasdar as US Air Force Colonel Glenn Talbot and Patton Oswalt as Agent Eric Koenig.

Now we have one more name to add to this guest star list as Patrick Brennan is also set to make his debut as Marcus Daniels, also known as villain Blackout from the comics, before playing a larger role in the following episode. Brennan previously starred in The Black Donnellys and had a small part as a friendly vampire in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, but this might prove to be his most interesting role yet.

You can check out the first official image of Brennan as “Blackout” below:

CLICK FOR FULL SIZE

Patrick-Brennan-as-Marcus-Daniels-Blacko
In a new interview with Marvel.com, Brennan talked about being offered the part without reading for it as well as the challenges of playing a sympathetic villain:

This is the way they explained it to me: This guy, Marcus Daniels, a.k.a. Blackout, was shrouded in darkness, his soul, everything about him was shrouded in darkness until he comes across this Cello player. And the music was the only light that came into his soul, and it gave him hope and it gave him some sense of what light was. I thought to myself, oh my god, you don’t even need to explain anything else. Because music, to me, is what gets me through most of the time. My kids, my wife, and music. That aspect of it totally intrigued me. I thought that was quite beautiful and very interesting, that aspect of the character.

We’ll see how sympathetic he comes across if anything happens to Amy Acker’s character, the cello player he mentions. The Whedonverse actress was recently revealed to be playing Coulson’s former love interest, who was first mentioned between Coulson and Pepper Potts in The Avengers. Unaware that Coulson is still alive and guarding her from a distance, Audrey will be put in danger when a super-powered threat from her past returns in the as-yet-untitled April 22nd episode.

Blackout-to-Appear-in-Agents-of-Shield.j

The comic book version of Blackout

Blackout’s powers have been slightly changed from the comics, where he had the ability to use “Darkforce.” In this version, he’ll be able to suck the energy out of anything around him, which will no doubt leading to some particularly awesome special effects. One wonders if this power will also extend to sucking the life force out of living beings.

It’s worth noting that this Blackout – Marcus Daniels – is not to be confused with the other version of Blackout from Marvel continuity, a half-human/half-demon Ghost Rider villain. That character appeared in the Nicolas Cage Movie, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, and was played by Johnny Whitworth.

How do you feel about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Have you been a fan of the newer episodes? Let us know in the comments.

Well, apperently the fallout is going to be covered the week after nest, 2nd episode from now

However since they are about to go rouge, and they do have a mobile command space and black-ops funds, I assume they will simply become a splinter group for good/ or the beginning of a new shield, you never know

Gotta watch the next 2 episodes to know for sure

its obvious from the begginning, that there was something holding it back, and thats the fact that SHIELD is hydra, however on the other hand, it allowed them to find the weaknesses, however now its back, and better

Oh and Hydra just unleased every super villian in the fridge, including Blizzard, so get ready for spy and super villain takedowns

As requested by Raticle King, summary of tonights episode

So starts out with the gang back at the base, and trying to figure out whats happening, but realizing early on that May is not a bad guy, Fitz and Simmons go off to get the stuff to get pancakes, but one finds the message from Skye, and the other finds the body, and during the inspection of the corpse, Simmons(the science dude, I may be mixing them up), is getting angry at wards betrayal, specialy when they realize it could have been no one other than him. Oh and then Talbot and Hill storm the base, but when Coulson tells Maria that Ward was a traitor she broke them out

Oh and May found Hill to find the truth of coulson

Skye leads ward on a wild goose chase, and puts up notices for him, and tries to escape, but then gets stopped by Deatlok. They get on the bus, and Skye plays the morality card on both, but fails and then D stops W's heart in order to get her to talk. Before they can take off Hill and whatshisname(the new Black dude) stall while Coulson sneaks on board. He is then told by sky that DL is on boaard, and they escape via Lola, in front of ironicly enought the Nokia Auditoraim. They are then at a motel talking, and maria tells him that shield is more, but it ends with them around the pool at night, and Skye tells him that she left a little gift when she decrypted the drive

Oh and May is back now at the end, and it turns out that Coulson is behind Tahiti, and we are finding out what happened in previous attempts.... and why they were so worried, and Tahiti was actualy created in case an Avenger was potentialy killed

Oh and for those that missed it last episode, the new guy is the grandson of one of the howling commandos

OOO and next episode is Wards background right before the finale

Might have missed a few details, but tonights episode was solid, catch up for all the details

Oh, and by the way the past several episodes have shown that the deathlok outfit looks good in action

Agents of SHIELD season 2 renewal Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 and Agent Carter Confirmed by ABC

TV is quickly becoming like the cineplex, as the most anticipated and high-profile new shows in the fall 2014 – spring 2015 season are comic book TV series. DC Comics and Warner Bros  will have no less than five shows airing in the fall (Arrow, Constantine, The Flash, iZombie and Gotham); however, Marvel is following suit by finally confirming previous speculation that  Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will get a season 2 renewal, and that the previously announced Agent Carter series has been ordered directly to series by ABC.

We have a whole separate editorial about why Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. deserves its season 2 renewal, but to give you the short version:

agents shield season 2 renewal Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 and Agent Carter Confirmed by ABC

Despite some big stumbles coming out of the gate (namely flat characters, a cheesy tone, and an overall lack of synergy with the big movies), the show has gained its footing since the winter hiatus, managing to find interesting ways to open up the characters and establish a more adult espionage drama tone. Thanks to Captain America: The Winter Soldier and some appearances by second-tier Marvel movie stars, the ties to the cinematic universe have become tighter and more relevant- to the benefit of both the show and the films.

That’s all to say: We’re cautiously optimistic about this show (which we’ve admittedly been hard on from the start) getting another chance to prove itself as a successful step in Marvel’s grand multi-media universe-building.

Agent Carter

Hayley Atwell stars in Agent Carter TV Series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 and Agent Carter Confirmed by ABC

The more interesting part of Deadline‘s report on Marvel’s TV offerings is the announcement that Agent Carter has been ordered straight to series by ABC. The titular character was introduced to the MCU in Captain America: The First Avenger as both a warrior and love interest worthy of Steve Rogers; the character has since made appearances in her own Marvel One-Shot short, as well as getting a moving (and tragic) epilogue in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. That foundation is what motivated ABC to commit to a series order.

Hayley Atwell’s contract with Marvel was extended, and the actress will be starring in this TV adaptation of her character. The burning questions is: What will a Peggy Carter TV show be about? Here’s what we know so far:
•It’s set in 1946, a year after the end of WWII. (Period piece.)
•The show deals with Peggy returning home to world where her sex makes her marginalized in society – especially as a single woman/warrior whose heart is broken by the loss of Steve Rogers.
•The hook is that Peggy goes to work for SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), running secret missions for Howard Stark – presumably the first threads of what will eventually become S.H.I.E.L.D.
•Showrunners are Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters,  creators of the late-2000s TV series, Reaper (which never got its proper due, IMHO).
•It’s mentioned that Agent Carter could be used as a bridge gap between the fall and spring halves of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The Agent Carter series is a somewhat bold move – but it is not at all unwise, for some key reasons:
1.Marvel is getting in front of the “diversification race” by launching a major property centered on a female character, with female showrunners,  in a way that actually acknowledges female concerns (as reflected through an old era).
2.Atwell and her performance were a distinctly strong part of First Avenger, so the character is already proven as effective.
3.Months ago (when the pilot script was written) if you had asked us if Agent Carter was Marvel TV’s smartest move, we might’ve scoffed; however, Captain America 2, the latter half of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1 and a whole lot of HYDRA have altered the playing field in Agent Carter‘s favor.
4.On a business side of things, the “Agent” title being shared between shows creates a more cohesive overall brand for the TV branch of the MCU.

Seriously, the events of Winter Soldier and HYDRA’s big reveal have sparked interest in this corner of the MCU like never before. Even though Captain America 1 & 2 pretty much bookend Peggy Carter’s story in this universe, given what we know now, the prospect of watching her, Howard Stark and Col. Phillips build S.H.I.E.L.D. – only to be infiltrated and undermined by HYDRA – is the sort of journey whose pleasures make the destination irrelevant. In other words: this concept is fertile ground on which to build a solid multi-season show.

The question now turns to the usual Marvel Shared Universe concerns: Will movie actors like Dominic Cooper and Tommy Lee Jones step onto the small screen to reprise their roles as young Howard Stark and Col. Phillips (respectively) in the series? Will we see pivotal moments like Toby Jones’ Arnim Zola being brought in to work for S.H.I.E.L.D.? Will we see any of the Howling Commandos actors? What other secrets about the MCU (or previously unseen characters) will this series offer? And how, exactly, will it correlate to the events of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and upcoming Marvel movies?

Details will be forthcoming as the show approaches its premiere date – but for now, just one question matters: Will you be tuning in to the Marvel TV universe this fall?

Also with NCIS ending, anybody else think that AoS might be able to steal some of its former audience?!

Marvel Agents of SHIELD Agent Carter SDCC 2015 Comic Con 2015: Marvel Sets Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. & Agent Carter Panel

Marvel’s cinematic universe has been growing on television both on ABC (with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter) as well as on Netflix with Daredevil and the rest of The Defenders. While the Netflix side is newer, Marvel’s TV universe is going strong on ABC with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. set to enter its third season this fall, and Agent Carter to return for a second outing.

While Marvel Studios won’t be appearing at San Diego Comic-Con this summer for its usual Hall H madness, Marvel TV is making sure its agents will be present. Both of its ABC shows, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter, will host a panel at SDCC to be moderated by Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb.

ScreenCrush is reporting that cast and producers of both Agents series will appear for a panel in Ballroom 20 on Friday July 10th at 3PM. For Agent Carter, the show’s stars Hayley Atwell and James D’Arcy will appear with executive producers Tara Butters, Michele Fazekas, Chris Dingess, and Louis D’Esposito.

Additionally, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet, Iain de Caestecker and Elizabeth Henstridge will appear along with recently promoted series regulars Henry Simmons, Adrianne Palicki, Nick Blood and Luke Mitchell. Executive producers Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen and Jeff Bell will also represent Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. at SDCC.

Agent Carter seems to have a smaller presence than its fellow Marvel show at the panel, likely because its second season won’t premiere until early 2016. Perhaps the cast and producers can talk about what fans can expect from the longer season.

On the other hand, since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 is set to premiere this fall, the show will likely have more to present, either in terms of footage or information about what fans can expect. The season 2 finale left viewers with quite a few questions – not the least of which is the future of Henstridge’s character, Jemma Simmons. Although the cast and producers assuredly won’t be able to give straight answers for many of these questions, they may be able to expand upon the larger story arcs of season 3.

The finale hinted at storyline focused on Skye’s Secret Warriors, so perhaps the executive producers could provide some insight into how that will be developed. Or, with various other storylines expected to develop in season 3, including the potential of a lot more Inhumans undergoing Terrigenesis, there is plenty for the cast and producers to talk about.

That being said, no matter what Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter bring to Comic-Con this year, Marvel fans will surely enjoy the presence of at least one part of the MCU – even if it’s not in Hall H.

Next: Marvel Studios Films vs. TV Shows

The Marvel TV comic-con panel featuring Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter will be held in Ballroom 20 on Friday July 10th @3PM.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for season 3 on Tuesday, September 29th, 2015 @9PM on ABC. Agent Carter returns for season 2 in early 2016.

Wished they'd show off some of the Jessica Jones Netflix show, after reading though Alias I'm legit excited for that. So far this Comic con doesn't seem all that promising.
