There already was a line, in Geoffrey data-files he released three years ago, implying that Sall... the Princess of the Acorn Kingdom was "one in a line of conquests" and he forgot about it...

It's one of the files I translated, so...

Given that the birthdate in very same data file showed Geoffrey to be two years older than Ken's been insisting all week, I'm not surprised.

A woman''s virginity isnt about the woman or her experience, Its about losing something and the man is the winner, Notice how Sally doesnt win Geoffrey or gains anything.

oh yes Penders is tottes Feminist.

Actually it is about the women. Normally it should be something a women chooses who to give it to. Usually for those who in a single marriage who think the person they are with is the one for them. Ive always seen it as something a women gives to a person she wants to have a child with. Though these days people do it a lot more with several people over the years. But not all men see sex as some sort of game where the final boss is a girls virginity is the win screen. Im speaking for myself. You all should know how Ken thinks by this point which i still do not.

Albion was always a bit weird to me. It was basically another Echidnapolis but had nothing much else too it. No idea if Penders ever planned to do anything with it. Doesn't surprise me that it would wind up be wiped out sometime later in the Flynn run.

You know, I'm blanking a bit on anything in Albion outside of the Council room or whatever Gala-Na hung in, but I think you might be right.

Honestly all things considered, I don’t remember much of Echidnaland either. Probably because for all of his attempts to be the next “insert whatever popular sci-fi creator that will surely put him in the annals of history”, the man just never was able to create anything resembling a consistent and thought out world. It’s telling that out of everything I can remember about the Echidna culture, all I can remember are ripoffs of Star Trek, Star Wars, a bit of Superman, and that one echidna with an Elvis haircut. Nothing is modified or changed enough to take into consideration that they were supposed to be an ancient advanced civilization, and instead feels like a hodgepodge of various popular sci-fi bits and contemporary American stuff, like Lara's sweet sixteen thing and Football.

Elvin haircut?

If he really wanted to handle this kind of idea of an advanced ancient civilization, maybe he could have considered making their weapons Chaos Energy based hard light versions of typical tribal weapons. Hard light blades, energy tipped spears and stuff like the Sheikah weapons from Breath of the Wild or something. Heck if he’s so stuck on the idea of Echidna women marrying young, maybe turn that into a case of values dissonance, where tribal traditions once required women to marry young and birth children because the world was a cruel place with no guarantees of survival, so they needed to get children quickly before their current generation died out. However, when they became enlightened and advanced, they never bothered to change these outdated beliefs because they never had any reason to or something.

Honestly maybe those elements could have even served as a possible way to gray the conflict between the Dark Legion and the Haven Echidnas, like maybe during their early days the DL were progressive revolutionaries who had discovered a better source of technology, but it had the side effect of being devastating towards the environment but that could be ironed out eventually.

However, both out of tradition and fearful paranoia, and mixed with a bit of logical fear for the destructive capabilities of the tech the DL found, AND that they’d be ousted from power, traditionalists tried to Suppress them via numerous ways, one of which might be to force the daughter of one of the DL to marry and be effectively held as hostage. Things snowballed from there and the Dark Legion was banished from Echidnaland, but not before damaging he place to the point they never really recovered.

Now the modern conflict is essentially the descendants of both factions, the environmental loving but strictly traditionalist (and highly mysoginistic, hence why there was only ever one female Guardian) Haven Echidnas who don’t understand that their tech is becoming more obsolete due to their traditionalist endeavors and arrogance and their numbers are shrinking rapidly vs the understandably vengeful, comparatively progressive (they have more female leaders for one thing) but also dangerously reckless with technology Dark Legion (implication being that their tech might have unintentionally contributed to the terrible conditions in the Twilight Cage/Zone).

Sorry, I think I went off on a tangent there.

That kinda sounds like Sonic Chronicles.

What's interesting about the faction stuff you got there is that there were indeed instances of that type of stuff in there.

In particular, I seem to recall a scene where two of the Brotherhood muse how they rely on similar technologies as their enemies despite that being part of the reason they split in the first place. Which makes me wonder if Echidnaopolis was gonna be something else, considering the backstory was already in place.

I don't think there's much overlap between Elvis fans and/or Princess Diana fans and Sonic fans, even if he's always written like there is.

Please dont make this into a #notallmen thing. I am not talking about you or men in general.

Not once did I meant men in general. my comment was 100 percent focused on Ken's words. So far he has been treating Sally's virginity as a prize to be won. ''Geoffrey was faster then Sonic, and the implied line about Sally being one of his conquest. Never did he mentioned that Sally might be Geoffrey's first, how the choice was important to her. It all is about Geoffrey.

I wonder if Penders is aware or even knows that nobody and I mean Nobody likes or cares for the Sally / Geoffrey paring anyway.

On the subject of Geoffrey hooking up with someone, what did he think of him later getting married to Hershey?

According to Penders they were never married. I heard that he said they had a One Night Stand because Geoffrey only does those apparently.

Not because he's too cool to stay with one woman for very long but because he's a selfish rough lover who finishes in a minute. What? If Penders can bring up his headcanons why can't I? XD

Ah, o-kai!

We haven't seen or heard from her yet despite that as well as being Geoffrey's protege and then there was that commission with the fridge, so I was wondering.

One of Penders fans took issue with Geoffrey stating Hershey was dead and had this done in response... though it would turn out, it was INTENDED for her to be in deep cover, but thanks to the LAwsuit and the subsequent De-Pendering, it never came to be.

You’re not wrong In That the pieces were there; Penders just never really capitalized on it.

I can’t believe he seriously used the Flynn era “Off-Panel” logo.

Y'know I love how Penders fans blame Ian for fridging Hershey when in Sonic Universe #37 she clearly is the Dark Legionaire Drago is harassing. Like...was that not obvious? Seemed pretty obvious to me.

Isn't that often the way?

How fitting considering he worked as an offshoot of SEGA for at least eleven years.

Yeah, that.

Not gonna lie, there is some legit hilarity in this being a thing.

I will give Ken this I did enjoy early dark legion stories

Yeah, that's sorta the sad thing. A fair number of his ideas actually weren't that bad, especially considering the conditions he had to work with at the time.

It's just too bad that he ironically ended up more or less floundering within and clinging to it. You know, on top of the stuff that was already some level of problematic.

At the very least, one could've potentially passed it off as a lowkey reference considering it's Drago.

But yeah, it was the obvious thought either way.

True. I remember for a small spree I enjoyed seeing a new knuckles book epically with the dark legion. See them told me knuckles was in for a struggle. And it was fun. but as you said he clung to hard to the comics and characters. Granted he is one reason I guess many stayed with the series so long in a way. Cause in between games it was nice to have something to read sonic related. He just took to the cliff and never turned back in the end though.

Essentially.

Doesn't IDW reprint the old Star Trek comics? I think that might be what he's talking about.

I would hope so, considering the question to answer dissonance.

"Twilight Sparkle totally lost her virginity to Big Mac."

No no

Has to be his original pony. Christopher Reynolds. Because it has to be his character and it has to have a completely unfitting naming convention that is ...for some reason cooler than all the other men created by the original property because he has no respect for it or its fans and are using it as a means to tell stories that no one cares about and seeks to reduce the women in it prizes for said characters to win.

Yeah I think they were going to reprint a story he drew that was written by Mark Lenard which y'know was the whole draw if the thing. I mean I do thing he and any writer and artist should receive royalties, seriously unionize the comics industry, but the way he goes about it is just sad to watch.

Aye. Especially given the timing about it- the first time he mused over this subject, it was shortly after the announcement of the IDW Sonic series. Even if he had a legitimate complaint, which he very well might, the optics of it is such that it looks like he only started 'caring' the moment IDW began to handle the franchise he has a sordid history with.
