Ohh, those badges are quite lovely indeed. Well done to Soniko, really fantastic badges. My preference would be Modern set, please.

A fantastic 31 days, loved every question. There wasn't one I didn't enjoy writing for (as I (think) I did all the days, I really have to say I enjoyed them all.)

As for my favourite, it has to be either Favourite Non-Eggman villain or Which Two Stories Would You Fuse Together. The Eggman one really helped me appreciate other villains in the series, and the much over looked ones got a spot of praise, which is nice. And the Story one really had me thinking, and then had me run my imagination wild a bit. So thanks for those questions.

Now a few words.

Dr. Crusher deserves infinite praise for this, it was seriously a blast and came together perfectly. He tried hard and his effort shone throughout the course of the 31 Days. Seriously Crusher, give yourself a pat on the back, and look smug for yourself because you deserve to. Great time.

And of course Kiah, who made it possible and supported the event through to the end. Great work from her and she deserves a lot of appreciation for it.

And of course, Verte, who gave the idea and inspiration behind this event, you deserve just as much praise.

So, yeah, good event, and I'm very happy to have participated.

Deciding between such lovely badges isn't easy, but I think I'll go with Modern Sonic for that delicious Adventure style. Major props to Soniko for the designs!

 

My favourite question would have to be  the plots and characters from '06 and Unleashed was both fun and challenging, as was messing around with Photoshop. It was also really interesting to see what everyone came up with and although I didn't manage to read through them all, I intend to go back and do so.

 

A strong runner-up was  I was pleasantly surprised by how many cameos I could recall and enjoyed reliving memories of my chosen five.

 

There's not much else to say, except that I've very much enjoyed this event and would like to congratulate those involved on a job well done!

Crikey, how am I supposed to pick a favourite day's question? They were (almost) all head scratchers. In a good way, of course.

Let's see... I suppose my favourite would be... The one about which characters power you would have. An interesting one, I think. Reveals more than you might think about a person.

Although 'which character are you most similar to' was another highlight for similar reasons.

Apologies, by the way, for not being particularly interesting throughout the event. Not easy to be humorous when you're knackered from work!

My favourite day? Hmmmmm. I think I'll go for Day 26 (Characters you'd like to see a spinoff of). It was real refreshing to see the Chaotix get so much love -- I never knew they were so popular -- and I really enjoyed the opportunity to explore the possibility of a Layton-styled Chaotix title, with investigations and whatnot. A good mention for this goes out to Super Spindash for positing the concept of a Amy/Cream partnership, similar to that of Sonic and Tails, for a game. Overall, it was a good day to talk about characters we liked and gameplay styles we'd like to see.

I'm afraid I haven't done so...yet maybe.

 

Bonus Question #4: If a Black Warrior and an Iblis Biter engaged in a standoff in the style of Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in the West, who would be the last one standing?

Hmm, many possible results, I suppose the most likely one to win would be a Black Warrior, since those guys are more versatile, and have an armament of weapons at their disposal. Also the fact that unlike the latter, they're not rooted to the ground immobile either.

Day #26: What Sonic-related news/spoilers/etc was it that really made you happy?

This one really brought back some great memories of watching the announcement trailer for Sonic Colors, discovering the Nintendo Power magazine(which has sadly been cancelled) due to Sonic Colors being on the cover, and the fact that the hype really paid off in the end. I also forgot to mention in the answer for this that Sonic Lost World and Sonic Boom came really close.

 

Once again, thanks to the people previously mentioned for making this event; I really had fun with it! Only problem is it went by too fast... xP I think just about anything Sonic-related goes by too fast

Okay, as for the bonus-bonus round, I think I might pick the bonus round (lol) although I might be bias simply because it has five questions.

With so many people here chucking out some of the more obvious choices, it really did make me think back to some of the downsides to having some of these powers. The monster headaches that come with psyco... the collateral damage of fire.... the running into walls with super speed...

As for my favorite question...I think I liked talking about the most. It gave me another chance to laugh at Sonic 06, and in general there were some really great responses. It's also a unique question that fits this series well, and isn't too hard to produce an answer for.

I liked this question just because it actually brought up some fun memories. Fun memories of Sonic 2006 even. It was good to talk about it, like it was some kind of childhood trauma. Although I thought the whole event was fun, really (with the exception of the more perplexing questions). Thanks again for organizing it.

Sorry I'm a bit late, but sweet badges! I'd like the Classic set as well as the Boom one please.

 

Favorite question? Easy. It was that really beefy one about your favorite 4 tracks in your top 3-5 games or something like that. Can't recall the day. I'm a bit of a music buff and I relish every chance i get to gush over music for pretty much anything, especially Sonic the Hedgehog. The series has such a diverse sound that spans many games and I love to talk about not only the tracks I love, but also the tracks I hate. The structure of the question was perfect and allowed for us to praise many songs from the series.

Say, does the bonus day count as a day? I think I may have barely skirted 10 days here. If so, I'll take the Modern set. If not, well, tough luck on my end I guess.

 

My favorite question has to be the one where we mix two different stories together. I just loved fixing the flaws and taking advantage of the wasted potential in games like SA2 and Unleashed, making it more grand and epic in scale. I can't really say anything more than I already did during time.

 

Runner up from that would have to be the favorite Non-Eggman Villain, as it gave us a chance to bring out some obscure characters from multiple medias out into the fray. And I really enjoyed taking apart and reconstructing the aspects of Imperator Ix and his contrast with Knuckles in their backgrounds and cultures.

Even though I barely participated, I still enjoyed mixing the stories together. It really helped me deal with my writer's block I was having for my own story, and I got to get some more feedback instead of the usual one line review I get from fanfiction.net (exceptions aside, no offense ImPants). Plus I think I now have a good future story for Unleashed, which was really making me nervous because I wasn't able to think of anything for it.

Well, I think I'll go for the Modern badge. I believe that I did 20 or more questions, but if I didn't, I'm okay with it. The ten day badge is the coolest anyway. I completed the bonus round, as well, if you don't know that already.

 

As for my favorite day, the Boss Battle and Eggman Base days were pretty fun, but once I understood what it really was, the final day became a blast, as I love having fun with stories.

As for my favorite questions, Favorite Badnik was one; the optimism and exaggeration of each Badnik's qualities from everyone was really fun. Top Four Songs from your Top x Games was great for the challenge factor, and it made me realize both that there's some songs from Sonic 3 I don't give enough listening to, and that my general ranking of songs from Sonic 3 is really weird. Also, the Mash Two Stories Together was cool because it was an exercise in reconciling two completely different stories into something workable.

I think my favorite question was choosing what character's abilities I'd like to have. It was fun thinking about it, because I'd never thought about it before and I enjoyed thinking out the pros and cons of each characters abilities.

I'd like to take the Classic Set, if that's okay! I think I did a little over 15 questions. 

 

My favorite questions just so happened to be some I wasn't around for, specifically the last one. Combing two stories is something I enjoy a lot. It sounds so creative to see how well past events can work. I also enjoyed the music question, as Sonic music is something I can talk about that many others can really agree on in most cases.  As for one I did answer, I very much liked the silly quotes. It was kinda fun, looking around for the various quotes in Sonic games that always either confuse me or give me a little laugh. 

 

But again, thanks you guys for making this event happen! Crusher, Kiah, Verte, Soniko, all of ya! You all did great with this! Hope we'll do another, soon!

Okay, SSMB, the time has finally come: the official end of the 30 Days of Sonic for 2014. I'm letting you know right now that this is going to be a long final post...

 

I'm giving my thoughts last here for several reasons, as you will soon see. For this event I was both a participant and the "mod in charge" for the event, and I will give my perspectives from both points of view. Starting off as a participant: I had a blast with the whole event. Many of the questions weren't expected and challenging even, and I mean that in a good way as it is nice to be thrown a challenge once in a while as it keeps things interesting, or more interesting, rather. It's only fair that I answer the questions that I asked you to ask in regards to your favorite question and your favorite answer you gave throughout the event.

 

It's tough to pick my favorite question, as there were so many good ones but I think my favorite question is from I liked this question a lot because my answer actually ended up surprising me A WHOLE LOT with who I resonated with the most seeing that rarely talk about this character...As for the question I had the most fun writing about, my favorite question to write about was for due to the fact that that I am big on friendship so I was all kinds of excited writing about my friends From being able to gush about things such as favorite Sonic songs, to cartoons, to cameos, to even Sonic plushies and gifts, the questions were really fun and many laughs where had via the unintentional funny moments and quotes and the Funniest Sonic '06 animation questions.

 

Now on the moderator side of things, as you may very well know, I was the one that had the responsibility of reading every single post in this thread and tallying each member's participation per each day, then at the end of the event I add everything all up per each member to see what each member qualifies for.  I'll get back to that later, as that was actually fun. Right now I want to discuss a few things that happened in this even that was not fun for me. It boils down to 2 things: 1) not following directions and 2) constant complaining to some degree or another. 

 

I don't know what was behind the issue of not following the directions, but there is no legit excuse that I had to turn around and made multiple "PSAs" to inform members to follow the instructions for each day's question. Yet, there was a good number of you not doing that continually, and on multiple occasions too. In you not following this simple task, it gave me more work to do in me having to hunt you down and tell you which of your posts would disqualify you from earning a badge. I shouldn't of had to do that and just let you be disqualified but I did it because I like to think that I am nice and I am usually all for giving second chances. But to be honest with you, I didn't need the extra work on top of everything else I was doing for this event and I was not happy about having to repeat myself on the matter. It was like some of you guys wasn't taking what I was saying seriously, and that has caused me to give second thought with the way that I moderate around here as I am thinking the two are related...and I don't think you want that to happen.

 

As for the complaining,  I am deeply and utterly disappointed in the overwhelming amount of complaints that occurred throughout the duration of this topic. The complaints started right from the beginning due to there being a problem with a 24-hour time limit for each question. I understand that many of us are busy, but if I could participate everyday on top of moderating the event, working full-time that included 12-15 hours shifts, then I personally don't see any excuse why you couldn't post on a daily basis for this event if in fact you wanted to. You just have to make time at times taking away from something else. Besides, as far as I know, having a 24 hour window is standard protocol for these kinds of events so again I'm failing to see what the problem was. Even down to the final thoughts there was complaints going on. When I said to give your final thoughts for the event, that wasn't a green light for you to complain and be critical of the questions yet again. I would be here all day if I was to point out every single complaint or jab that was taken throughout these 3000+ posts in this topic. 

 

Just because a question required you to use your thinking caps and actually forces you to take some time to put some genuine effort into your posts several times did not mean that the question was bad or difficult. Seriously, if Crusher could take all that time to create the question and answer the question appropriately then why couldn't we do the same? No one said that earning a badge would be smooth sailing the whole entire time for the event involved so just consider this question as an additional challenge for you to earn your prize. Usually earning something in general is never easy to do and this shouldn't be an exception to that. 

 

There was a lot of talk regarding "restrictions" associated with the questions. Like I said before, the "restrictions" were made so as to provide a challenge and to to get the members to think out of the box. That's where the "restrictions" came from, if you want to even call it that. This was established to prevent all 80+ answers being the same thing, which Crusher has every right to prevent that from happening as that really defeats the purpose of discussion if we are all saying the same exact thing which would likely the be exact answers that have be eliminated from discussion. To all of those that complained about the questions being too hard, or too bizarre, or too one-sided, or whatever else you was complaining about, I want you to know that your complaints had some adverse effects, which was definitely behind this event's delay due to Crusher's illness and having me furious as a result. I'm not sure what the point of the complaining was in the first place. Did you really think it would make a positive difference or that it would make things better? If you thought so, you was wrong on both accounts. 

 

Complaining never brings about anything positive or productive, not to mention it makes you look awfully ungrateful as well as unappreciative, something surely unfitting and inappropriate after someone took their free time out of the kindness of their heart to do something nice for you, only to be "slapped in the face" or disrespected by complaints and jabs. Seriously, I think something that was definitely forgotten was that this entire event was done because we wanted to do something nice for the community and have some fun and the last thing we wanted to hear and see is complaining. Here's something I really recommend you to keep in mind: the next time someone does something nice for you and you don't like it, keep it yourself, because your complaining isn't going to help matters on top of making you look like an ungrateful individual in the process.

As you can see, I have every member that participated on this list, and next to each member are the numbers 1-31, indicating the number of days each member successfully participated in. You may have also noticed a color-coding system that I used:

 

Green indicates the key contributors to the event, whether it was the host, the inspiration of this whole thing or the awesome artist of the badges

 

Orange indicates moderators that participated in this event (reason for this color should be obvious lol), as the majority of them helped me in some capacity in an event that actually required very little moderating and definitely with their participation amid being so busy with other obligations to the forum, that I personally am well aware of.

 

Yellow indicates everyone that had 100% participation with the event of the first 30 Days. Yellow also represents Super Sonic, which is the color of their badge that they will get.

 

Blue indicates those that participated anywhere between 20-29 Days in this event. 

 

Pink indicates those that participated between 10-19 Days in the event.

 

Purple marks at the far right of the page indicates those that participated in the bonus question round, as indicated by the number "31".

 

Now, based on these tallies, here are some statistics for you:

 

Most popular day/question: Day 5: Funniest Sonic '06 Animations. That round elapsed 9 different pages, when the average per round was 5 or 6.

 

Number of members that had 100% completion (All 30 Days): 40

 

Number of members that completed 20-29 days: 27

Total number of different participants in this 30 Days of Sonic event: 140 

 

Number of arguments and debates: 0. That's right, absolutely none! That is commendable!

In addition to thanking you all in general, I would specifically give thanks to some lovely people here:

 

First off, I would like to thank Verte for the inspiration to get this idea of a 30 Days of Sonic rolling in the first place. I want to also thank her for her advice and support, which was much needed and appreciated during those days during this event that I was absolutely livid. She really helped me to calm down and keep a cool head as well as stayed focused.

 

I also have to thank everyone from the Staff from giving the green light for this event to happen, to giving me helpful instruction regarding the administrative work behind the badges, to supporting and encouraging me to giving me some much needed laughs, you all really kept me sane during this whole event. Special thanks to Sean, Nepenthe and Tara for their collective participation, which was nearly at 100% I know how busy you all are just from a moderator's standpoint, so I really appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedules to join in the fun.

 

Lady Soniko went above and beyond with the badges, and I can't thank you enough for that. All that was needed from her was just 3 badges and she was kind and creative enough to make both Modern and Classic Sonic sets of badges for everyone to choose their preference to make your accomplishments in this events all the more sweeter and a bonus badge for extra sweetness. Everything you had drawn looks great, per usual, and I am glad that many more members were able to see that for themselves.

 

Either they knew that I had a lot on my plate with my obligations for this event or they could detect that I was getting angry from the things I said in those PSAs, but I have to thank Mysterion, Sonikku/, and goku2002 for checking on me via PMs frequently. More times than none it was just a message to see how I was feeling and holding up amid everything, and I deeply appreciate that consideration. It's those little things that mean so much to me, and your gestures of kindness were very much appreciated by me, especially on those days that I needed some cheering up.

 

Finally I want to both thank and to congratulate Dr. Crusher. The way he has handled this topic has outstanding from start to finish and exceeded my expectations. I knew I was going have fun with this event, but I had no idea I was going to have a blast with it. From the variety and intrigue among the questions, to comical opening posts, the entertaining comments and constant interactions with members throughout the whole event, to the moments that caught us off guard (and made us laugh at the same time), everything that was part of the 30 Days Of Sonic was really something special.

 

Like I said before, it was my extreme pleasure to work with him during this event. He was so easy to communicate with and was so cooperative. Despite me saying that I would unlikely volunteer to do one of these events again bar some exceptions, Crusher would definitely be among those as he was so pleasant to work with. Thank you for that and all the fun your topic provided as I had a blast. I learned a whole lot too, such as what a badnik really is, for example. And for an unexpected bonus, I feel us working together through this event, especially with the bumps on the road has made us closer as friends.

 

Do not let my rant from earlier in this post fool you as aside from that I did have fun with everything that I did both on and off the scenes overall. I cannot tell you how much sleep I lost in doing all of this, and how hard I worked, but I have no regrets as it was nice to be able to do something nice for the community here, for you guys, and have fun while doing so. All I ask from you really from now on in the instance of any future events like this is to be more appreciative and focus on the fun of the event and try not to be negative. Please. Especially since all the latter does is ruin things and stresses people out and has the potential to cause even bigger problems.

 

And finally, expect badges to be awarded by the end of the weekend at the latest. Please bear with me as this is the first time that I have done this.
