Corrupt saves

This is easily the most frustrating thing to happen to me in a game. The first time a file corrupted, I was using a Joytech memory card for the Dreamcast (since a VMU alone held comparatively little data). I can't remember exactly what triggered it; whether the console crashed or whatever. What I do remember is the disappointment as I realised I'd lost my high level Phantasy Star Online character. I didn't lose anything else, as the memory card was split into four parts (accessed by a switch) and I'd allocated this one purely for PSO. Unfortunately this was the last save I wanted to lose.

As if that wasn't enough, I experienced the same with PSO again on the Gamecube. I was apprehensive about using another third party card after the last time, but I thought it was worth the risk considering only one quarter was lost with the Dreamcast. It turns out that it wasn't. I'd lost more than a PSO character this time too, including a lot of A ranks in SA2 among other things.

I don't know if there was an issue with PSO, but I do know that it didn't happen on any official cards. That was the last time I used a third party card for anything as important...

Day 11: Most Frustrating Moment

Mine happened quite recently, last Thursday as a matter of fact.

QXFEm43.jpg

Now, everybody knows Champion's Road is a frustrating level, with how perfect they expect you to be at certain parts, but I myself never had quite that much trouble with it until I attempted a no-power-up run for a 100% run let's play. The thing is, I had practiced a few times in preparation, but when I started recording...I just couldn't do it. I would get so far as the last dash panel section before dying, and even then I would constantly slip up at random intervals. I ended up spending an hour of just uselessly going through the level and dying at the most crucial points, and man it got on my nerves soooo much, as evident in the video. So yeah man, it was just a terrible thingie. But there ya go.

Corrupted save files are the worst. I've also had moments when I accidentally save over the wrong file or accidentally deleted one. They're brutal. But for the sake of being different, I wanna mention something else. Although I guess it's partially my fault it frustrates me, as I dislike using the headsets and I'm equally bad at making friends online as I am in real life.

Assassin's Creed IV - Multiplayer Co-Op Mode - Wolfpack

Assassin%27s_Creed_IV_-_Black_Flag_cover

It is important to note that the goal is achievable faster with higher quality kills. Primary means of accomplishing this are through a slow approach, assassination with high focus, and remaining hidden.

That's a simple briefing of how the mode works. It's pretty simple really.

But when you have to play with random players, you almost never get a team that understands that. Once the games start, it's a mad rush to get to the targets, which is fine, but the rush continues when your enemies can clearly see them. That'll greatly effect the score and if one of the team members is trying to be stealthy, (Which is the whole damn point!) they'll end up with no score as either the others have killed them all and saved none for you or the last target runs away, forcing you to chase it and earn an equally sh*t score.

The game has signals that tell you what the other players are doing. An icon will appear above a target when one of you have locked onto an enemy. So why do some players feel the need to run up and steal a kill when they can clearly see that you are stalking the target in the hopes of getting a focus bonus? The game also tells you how to perform the bonus "Sync-Kill" through either the tutorial or the damn pictures at the top of the screen. The pictures show which enemy has been targeted and a message pops up if you've targeted an enemy that another player has, yet time after time one or more of the team your stuck with, manage to screw this simple process up.

I was once privileged to be part of a team of 4 that played the game in perfect sync. (Pun intended.) We sailed through the mode in record time, sharing points and kills, performing perfect sync-kills and having no need to worry about the remaining time. It was super fun this way, so I do know the mode can be fun.

But your more likely to get stuck with speed freaks, stealing kills and failing to follow simple instructions. Am I being unreasonable? I guess if I had friends, I wouldn't have this problem...

Day 11 - (as many other have said...) losing saves files, however the worst one of these for me was undoubtedly...

....Family Breaking my Wii Console, and replacing it hoping I wouldn't notice (was under warranty/guarantee) - this resulted in me losing all of my saves for it.

The whole situation was irritating. I left my Wii hooked up to the TV downstairs because family were all addicted to Guitar Hero III. They basically would turn it on, play it, then pause it and switch the channel to watch TV, and they just never turned it off. Dunno what else they did, but they essentially bricked it. I lost all of my saves because I had no memory card. Gutted. I came home, booted my Wii, thinking it was my old Wii (the family never let on). I started complaining about my saves disappearing and asked where they were and what had happened? They insisted at first that nothing had happened but eventually confessed. I was so angry about it at the time. I remember my dad snapping back at me and saying, "What does it matter, you can just do them again?" Clearly not a gamer huh? :/

Day 11: Most Frustrating Moment

I have 2....

Luck based moments.

These can just fuck right off. These are moments where you do everything right, only you fail at something because the random factor wasn't with you.

Heres an example. Payday 2's Guessing Game trophy.

To do this... you have to get into an FBI office, deactivate an alarm without being spotted by a camera or guard.

Sound easy? Ha! First off all, there are 4 alarm boxes in the level... 2 of which when tampered with will set off an alarm.

Do you have any clues as to which will go off... nope... it's random every time.

The following is also random.

Locations of the guards.

Locations of the alarm boxes.

Locations of the cameras.

Location of the room you have to then enter.

The alarm boxes which are the right ones.

At least give me some clue, or some way to figure out which ones I cannot tamper with!? Give me something, don't make it completely random.

Unskippable credits or cut scenes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjnDQOQZGa4

This is 18 min long!? At about 30 seconds you realise there is no point in controlling Rayman, nothing will happen..

There is nothing.

No past.

No present.

No Future.

Only Ubisoft staff...

Why do developers still do this? I have played through the game once, I do not want or need to see you 10 min long cutscene again... especially if you have difficulty mode unlocks/replay value.

And Ubisoft... Stop putting in unskippable 20-30min long credit sequences!

Day 11: Most Frustrating Moment

KH2_Intro_High_Riku2.jpg

Kingdom Hearts - The Dark Riku Boss Battle

I don't know about you guys, but this boss battle PISSED ME THE HELL THE F**K OFF! This battle caused me to rage quit for the first time in a VERY long time.

This bastard just KNOWS. Everything you can throw at him he'll counter it. He also has so many AOE (area of effect) moves which covers the entire arena with blasts, and the arena is pretty flippin' small. He is so fast and when his attacks connect, get ready for an ass kicking because he strings such long combos.

WHATEVER YOU DO, do not lose because every SINGLE TIME you lose this boss battle, you'll have to watch a 5 minute long cutscene. EVERYTIME! I lost so many times that the cutscene is now imprinted in my brain. "There's no way I'm letting you take Kairi's heart" indeed...thank God that they finally added an option to skip cutscenes in future entries. Y'know, it wouldn't be so bad if you could skip the cutscene but this right here was the major killer for me. I just ran out of patience.

The only way I beat him is by copying tactics from someone who kindly posted a video on how to beat him. It requires lots of parrying with perfect timing.

My runner-up would go to bosses which have 1-hit KO moves. Think you're gonna beat me, LOLNO! BAM, your entire team is now gone and guess what...you've gotta start again! Ugh, so bloody cheap.

Just wanna say something. If you have Aeroga or even Aeroa along with a Keyblade that can counter when he blocks a attack, the battle is gets MUCH easier.

Day 11: Most Frustrating Moment

Final Battle - BioShock Infinite

130326_review_bioshock_featured.jpg

Now don't get me wrong, this is a great game, but god damn the final level/battle/mission in this game is just fucking difficult, depending on the difficulty. I couldn't beat this at all on normal mode, because god damn it's just so hard to focus on taking down all the blimps and shit while also protecting the main power core or whatever. It might just be me, but this level was really fucking hard to me. I could never beat it until one day I just got really lucky somehow, but yeah, this was just extremely frustrating to me.

Day 11: Most Frustrating Moment

World Special 8 - Crown from Super Mario 3D Land.

I havent yet reached Champions Road on 3D world, but this is so far one of the most frustrating things I have ever had to play so far. The perfect run from Super Mario Galaxy 2 was hard yes, but it didnt feel cheaply so, and it certainly felt achievable. This level is seriously frustrating and it requires like literally no room for error. There are genuinely places where you have to be doing a running jump from a one block space. That is almost impossible, also the camera really isnt your friend in this level at all. I lost literally hundreds of lives because Mario wasnt running fast enough to do a long enough jump...or he jumps too far...ARGH!!

and yes Hogfather, unskippable cutscenes or credits!

Sigh... (The Legend Of Zelda - Four Sword Anniversary Edition)

If it wasn't for the fact that Nintendo gave it for free when I downloaded it, I'd hate this game to no end.

In this edition of the game Nintendo added a single player mode, which consists in me switching from Link to Link with a button. Useful when one Link is hurt or in the verge of death: switching from the other Link before the first dies is a safe way to prevent the loss of a life or, at leat, precious health.

Four_Swords_-_Death_Mountain_Guardian.pn

That's not the case everytime I fight Gouen, boss of Death Mountain. as you can guess this hothead shoots fireballs. Being hit by a fireball is the worst thing that can happen to Link, as when his ass is on fire he starts running uncontrollably, looses controls and even health for a short amount of time.

Everytime this happens, I always figure "oh well, I can switch to the other Link without getting more dama-"

And guess what, right in the second I switch to the other Link, the little bastard is already running with his ass on fire in the farthest corner of the level, losing health and muttering the most annoying sound I have ever heard: "Huh! Huh! Huh!".

This tragedy happens every. Single. Time.

And don't get me started with what happens in the hardest levels such as the Hero's Trials, when the two Links get frozen, hit with rotating bones, and pushed into bottomless pits screaming the other most annoying sound I have ever heard: "Uaaaaaaaah! Uaaaaaaaah! Uaaaaaaaah!".

This maybe is the only case when I hate the playable characters instead of his enemies. Stop getting hurt you stupid kids! Stop! Stop! Stooooooop!!!!11!

Eww, corrupt saves. That is the single worst thing to happen to any player of Pokémon... But a few people have done corrupt saves, so I'll talk about how frustrating very long cutscenes are.

Look, developers, I did not pay to watch a movie. I can enjoy a game's story, but I also recognize that story is one of the least important elements in a game. I still don't even know what Ōkami plays like because the intro is so long and I've never had the patience to watch the whole thing. I downloaded it on PSN a few months ago and I usually just end up switching to another game about ten minutes into the movie.

Metal Gear is one of the only series where I find this practice acceptable, and that's because they're integrated so well with the game. Maybe if more games had entertaining stories and characters like Metal Gear does I wouldn't hate this so much.

DAY 11 - MOST FRUSTRATING MOMENT - I'M TIRED OF YOUr SHIT MAN C'MON

0.jpg

Dying right after you beat a boss. Holy Fucking Shit.

I remember it clear as day. I was on my Gamecube, playing Sonic Heroes. After beating all the other storylines, Team Chaotix's was the last one. I made it to the Egg Emperor. I took him on. After dying a couple of times, I managed to get knocked off a cliff. I was in flying formation though, and managed to bring myself level with the ground. He was in range. I hit him, and he was defeated.

Palms sweaty, I breathed a sigh of relief.

My jubilation quickly turned to horror as the camera switched back to the Chaotix and I watched them plummet into the abyss. The screen faded out and the fight restarted.

I'm done. I can't. This has happened to me other times, too. This right here, though... This is the best example I can think of. Frustration and anger.

I quit playing for a while after that.

Day 11: Most Frustrating Moment

Oh boy, a repeat!

Mario Galaxy 2 - The Perfect Run

Seriously, for the same reasons I detailed before, fuck this thing. It completely sours a great game by making your ultimate proof of skill boil down to shitty motion controls, as opposed to how good you actually at Mario games, again like the final level of the far superior 3D Land.  I just... urgh. Sod this thing.

When you say frustrating moment, does that mean what the gameplay or the lack of one or does it also account for something inherently wrong with the story?

Up to you.

I seemed to have missed Day 10....shit, ahh well. moving on

Day 11: Most Frustrating Moment

*Online playing a fighting game*

Man, I sure am having fun against this person. And the internet connection is smooth too. I really hope I can beat this guy, he seems really strong. Ok, its the final round, I can do this. All I have to do is confirm a hit into a combo to win the match, so I'll try to go for a mixup to catch him off guard.

*Games begins to slow down*

...wait, what's going on. Why is the game slowing down, why is there a delay in my inputs. No, my mixup. NO, STAHP, I DON'T WANNA LOSE THIS WAY,, FFFFFFFFFF

*Gets beaten*

That friends is lag....it is the worst piece of shit to lose to, especially when you were winning in the first place. There is no greater feeling of hatred, and annoyance then when you're playing a perfectly good game with some friends, then the game becomes a battle underwater with 5 second lag inputs. You will rage, you will throw things, might even punch the closest person to you. But there is no escape from lag.

Despite playing the shit out of Assassins Creed 2 and holding it to be one of my favorite games of all time, I don't really consider myself an Assassins Creed fan. Well, Brotherhood's overuse of follow and escort missions aggravated me to no end, and 3's story and revamped combat didn't really compel me to get any further in the game about halfway in. Then there's of course the first game, which had it's share of frustrating moments all over, thanks to the extremely repetitive mission structure and goals. What pissed me off most about the first game, let alone the entire series you say? That's fairly simple.

FUCK PICK-POCKETING MISSIONS!

AC1_Altair_Target_Pickpocket.png

It's a real shame too, because it's a simple gameplay concept when you really think about it. Tail the target until you get close enough to swipe something from them, usually a note containing information on one of the Templar's Altair is hunting down. Unfortunately, the frustrating civilian AI usually gets in the way, making it extremely easy to be detected by guards and end up desynchronized, restarting the mission over, and over, and OVER! Beggars and Alcoholic Bums can go to hell for getting in the way, that's all I have to say. Also, why the hell does not moving at anything above a snail's pace make you stick out like a sore thumb anyway?

Ubisoft is seriously lucky that the first Installment of the Assassins Creed series sold so well. You can tell how much of a chore it is to play, and how primitive the mechanics feel, even as a title on its own. Thank god AC2 decided to simplify the first game's mechanics and try do something unconventional, because my patience could hold for only so long, playing the whole entire game and only hoping what came in store was drastically improved.

Day 11: Most Frustrating Moment in a Video Game

There's certainly no short supply of favorite/least favorite questions, eh? Oh well. Like I said concerning my Skyward Sword post, exempting games I consider a bane against game design I can't really muster up hate for stuff like this. If it's alright, I'll have to dig myself a little deeper in this matter in order to get anything I truly detest. As I'm not sure any one video game has the frustrating moment I have in mind, I suppose you'll have to excuse me if I pick one that applies to multiple.

The "Hero Trades Away Humanity" Plot Point, Various Games

This one frustrates me more on an ethical level than a visceral one, but I hope it still counts. For one reason or another (I assume because it sounds poetic), dozens of games have had the protagonist either declare or undergo the rather sinister action of throwing their world under the bus for the sake of a loved one. This is invariably painted as heroic or loving on the part of the game itself, but in truth, excluding the protagonist-based myopia, this is easily the most evil, villainous thing we allow heroes to get away with on a regular basis. You'll find people like this all the time in real life... in prison, or a mental institution, and rightfully so. It's an unabashed selfishness masquerading behind flowery words or dramatic music, and I see it everywhere. Love is not so small as to die with a single person, no matter how precious; to imply the utter worthlessness of the rest of your people isn't noble in the slightest.

Day 11: Most Frustrating Moment

Dark Souls 2: Ruin Sentinels

100552815.jpg

These guys are cock splinters.

No I haven't finished the game yet, yes I know there's more insane stuffs later, but god damn. The fun thing about Dark Souls is that it seems like the bosses you'll have trouble with the most in the game is dependent on your choice of weapons/armor/playstyle. As a person that decided that light armor and these guys (below) would be my Dark Souls 2 weapons of choice, it made these's giant ass, 3 halberd-wielding nightmares a pain in my ass.

caestus-onhand-large.jpg[

-Dual Cestuses (my armor is kinda beefer though lmao)

The Ruin Sentinels in Dark Souls 2 is again, a pain in the ass. As soon as you enter the boss area, you're greeted by the first of the three, already striking at you basically. You're on a ledge just barely larger than it's weapon's swing, and if you decide to drop down further, not only do you take some fall damage, but you awaken the other two, making it a 3 vs 1 fight (basically impossible). So beating the first guy isn't too much trouble actually, but once you're done with him, you still have to fight the other two at the same time, which is the tough part. I haven't died so many times on a boss in Dark Souls before, and I tried just about everything I could without switching weapons. Finally managed to pull it off, and boy did it feel good, but never again haha.

There's definitely some other moments in my gaming history that were probably as frustrating or even more (hi playing Westopolis 10 times over in Shadow the Hedgehog), but this one is the most recent, and first thing that jumped to my head lawl.

Day 10 Redo:

Yesterday I completley forgot to mention Animal Crossing New Leaf, and the worst part is that it would have suited the last question perfectly. Animal Crossing New Leaf has had me hooked for almost a year now. I've spent so much time building public works projects, digging up all the fossils, getting the villagers I want and just making my town look pretty. The game has the one of the most positive and welcoming vibes of any game I've played (despite it trying to intentionally make you feel terrible about some of your actions). Its such a nice feeling seeing your little town grow into something grand, like the tree progressively getting larger and the barren main street evolving into a place full of people and having lots of stores. Its had me hooked for a long time and I don't think I'm gonna stop any time soon.

Day 11: Most frusterating moment

I'm surprised so many people have had issues with corrupt saves. I've never actually had that problem! However I have still had my fair share of external issues.

The power shutting down

I have no idea whats wrong with my house, but sometimes the power in it shuts off completely for a second or two. And when it happens while I'm playing a game on a console, it BOTHERS ME TO NO END. The Xbox 360 does something where if the power goes out it saves exactly where you are, and its perfect. But my other consoles don't do that at all! Earlier today I was playing Wind Waker HD. I collected lots of heart pieces, got many sidequests finished and I didn't save. And then the power went out! OH JOY!

Any form of backtracking

Its pretty self explanitory. This may be weird coming from a Metroid player but I HAAAATE having to go back to places Ive already visited.

Hydra Boss - Rayman Origins

Rayman Origins has some of the worst boss fights I have ever played, and the worst one in the game is the fight against this Hydra thing. Its bad enough that its an underwater level, the collison detection on the thing is insane. I can never tell if he is going to make contact with me or not. Trying to hit the purple growth that appears on his tail is a pain. You are never on the same side as it when it appears and it just makes me angry. And then the weird tentacle things come along only to limit your movement, and even when you hit the boss 3 times you have to go head first into his mouth and I seriously have no idea how to hit it. And as icing on the cake you need to redo a lengthy chase sequence every time you die, and that means recollecting all the lums if you want the electoons in that level.

Water levels - Pretty much every platformer ever

Who actually likes water levels? They're slow and I'm just not a fan of how they switch up the regular mechanics that I'm already used to. Usually they just put me off from the game.

Game overs and lack of checkpoints

Why do game overs still exist?! They're a completely outdated concept that is only kept around for the sake of tradition and to make games needless frusterating. I hate getting game overs and being forced to go all the way back to the beginning of whatever level I'm at. There should be another form of punishment. This is made even worse when checkpoints are far too sparse.

And theres a bunch of incoherent ramblings about video games. yay

Day 10: Most Immersive Games

Xenoblade and Majora's Mask

To make up and do this quickly ill just explain why both of these game succeed in being Immersive. Both games create a living breathing world that feels alive and beautiful. Majora's Mask succeeds at this by giving nearly NPC a goal, a role, a schedule, a life, and a story to tell if you dig deep enough. From the Romani sisters, to Anju and Kafei, to the Indigo-Gos the game makes you care about each and everyone one of them, fueling you're desire to beat the game and save the world from disaster. Really the games does an excellent job in getting you emotionally attached and invested into the world around you, Termina is great.

Xenoblade does the opposite rather. Instead of focusing squarely on the characters (which are pretty good but lack the distinct character designs that MM had) to get you invested it instead puts more focus on the world at large. The world of the Bionis and the Mechonis is probably the most fascinating and original setting ive seen in a video game, essential being two colossal corpses which has bastions of live sprung up around it. The setting are beautiful with a ton of detail put into it, and they're HUGE, offering up a ton of exploration and adds a great of discovery. Combine that with the fact that all the enemies you're fight are in the overworld in REAL TIME and it helps make it feel that much more alive.

Day 11 - Most Frustrating Moment

You know that thing some RPGS do where you get to a point of no return? And they still give you the option to save? And that renders you essentially stuck in the game despite the fact that you still can do other things within the game? Isnt that terrible? Why would any designer allow such a thing to exist? You're essentially fucked unless you start the game from the beginning. What an awful design choice, ugh.

Most frustrating moment:(Puzzle Marathon in Super Mario 3D World)

I'll have to go with the Puzzle Box in world Crown. Man, have I tried over and over just to get past that..so I have'nt stepped into champion's road. And the times I almost make it hurt so much. My sis has that tune even stuck in her head..and not in a good way.
It's really aggrvating to do this over and over and it's still left uncompleted. Urgh.

I'm going to split this one into two: The most frustrating segment of a game and the most frustrating moment I've had while playing a game.

Day 11:

Covering Emma (No Kills) (Metal Gear Solid 2)

hqdefault.jpg

If you just stick to the PSG1, this part is merely tedious but if you want to go for a no kill run, it's complete bullshit.  The tranq gun only holds 5 bullets at a time and has a low firerate so you have to be super extra precise.  You also have to switch between the PSG1 and PSG1-T when changing between targeting cyphers and soldiers, which readjusts your aim and resets your zoom.  Oh, and you have to pop a Pentazemin every five fucking seconds as if this wasn't irritating enough.  And when you run out of ammo or pills, you have to zoom out and grab some more, zoom in and get reoriented with your new perspective.

And the design of this segment itself is just awful.  Whenever a soldier capable of spotting Emma comes into view, you have about a two second window to take him down before he summons his friends and you instantly have four people shooting the target you're supposed to protect.  I can learn the position and moment where he comes into view and have my aim completely at the ready as he appears and I still have a hard time taking him out before he spots Emma (at least with tranq bullets).  Also those fucking cyphers replace destroyed ones after about twenty seconds, which I wouldn't mind if it weren't for the fact they come back completely silently and basically instakill Emma as a consequence of not noticing them.  Thankfully Snake comes around towards the end to help you but after the bullshit I just put up with I could have done without the "here's how a pro does it" spiel.

And all of these problems I could tolerate if this part wasn't so goddamn long and had some goddamn checkpoints.

The Most Inopportune Blackout Of My Life (Paper Mario: TTYD)

hqdefault.jpg

So in Paper Mario 2, you might remember the pit of 100 trials, a gauntlet of fights each harder than the last.  It's the kind of challenge you take up when you feel the last boss isn't hard enough and want to prove your absolute mastery of the game.  Getting the bottom is no cakewalk- it took at least an hour and it only gets more stressful considering that the further you make it the more you have to lose.  But then I finally reached the very bottom where I was greeted by Bonetail, the hardest boss in the game.  I was so excited to finally reach this guy and I managed to get him down to half health when suddenly...

I lost some days... sorry, it won't happen again! Let's go:

Day 9: Favorite Boss

That one is kinda hard to pick, but when I read the question, I already knew it has to be something from God of War. The boss fights in this games are always f*cking intense and satisfying. But my favorite has to be:

ZEUS, from GoW 2:

Zeus_Boss_Fight_God_of_War_II.png

The fight is epic by itself, but what makes it even better is that after your long and hard quest, you will FINALLY kick Zeus' ass! I remember when I played this the first time, I almost broke my controller, I was mashing the buttons really hard, like I was really fighting Zeus. The guy is one of the biggest assholes in the story of videogames IMO.

Day 10: Most Immersive Game

RedDeadRedemption_sc024.jpg

RDR is a beautiful game, every inch of it. It's by far one of the best games I've ever played. There's something truly special here, something that sucks you into the game, and makes you really feel like a cowboy in the wild west. The deserts, the forests, the animals, the towns, the amazing weather changes, everything in this game in rich in detail. I love to just go around on my horse at night, hearing nothing but the singing of the nature.

Day 11: Most Frustrating Moment

Whenever a game doesn't let you change the controls... Especially when is a platformer and the X (PS) button is not the jump button! The X must always be the jump button! I'm serious here. I play a lot of platformers, and I expect the X button to make my character jump, even in other genres. I know it might sound bitching, but I hate when you can't customize controls to adjust to your tastes.

Day 11: Most Frustrating (if this happens one more god damn time, this whole world will Feel. My. Wrath) Moment

So imagine having a sleepover with some of your friends. You guys are having a fun time, playing GameCube games, eating Sour Patch Kids long into the night. The game garnering the most time: Super Smash Bros Melee. After a long while we all start to get tired and slowly drift to sleep.

This was how I left it. This was how I remembered it while I was drifting to sleep. But when I woke up, you know what I saw?

"So what's wrong here?" some of you may ask. Well, all the data I had unlocked is gone. Apparently while I was asleep one of my friend's buddies (who I still don't talk to this day) decided it would be "hysterical" if he deleted all my saves off my memory card. I don't think I've ever went off as hard as I did that morning on him. I didn't hit him but I honestly can't remember a time where words just flew so fast out of my mouth with pure hate. My friends didn't even try to defend him nor stop me. He was actually the only one who didn't game all that much so he didn't know how severe it actually was at the time. They knew he had fucked up royally.

Of course my friends tried to help me out afterwards by copying some of their save files over to my card but it really was never the same. All those hours recorded and trophies collected up to that point... it was my file and I can never get it back. To this day I never even consider bringing a memory card, hard drive, nor console over somewhere unless I know exactly who I'm with can be trusted.

Hm...most frustrating moment, eh? Well, since I already outlined Jak II's ridiculousness the other day, I'll highlight some other jerks:

The Final Matches (Mario Strikers: Charged)

Oh, Mario Strikers: Charged. Such fast, heated fun for friends and foes alike. That is...until you realize that there are THREE hidden characters. After seeing that, you'll inevitably come to the conclusion of "Well, it should only take a bit to win a few soccer matches and there are only three of them, so it shouldn't be THAT hard, right? I mean, it IS a Mario sports game." Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, how wrong you were. You take on the Fire Cup, beat all of the prelim matches, get to Bowser Jr., and after a bit of a snag, you beat him! That gives you a SECOND injection of optimism that's about to be crushed into so many pieces.

Next up is the Crystal Cup and you get to Diddy only to realize...that's he's really freaking HARD! His team is absolutely RELENTLESS and you already had a bit of a time just getting up to him, so trying to keep up with him and his band of ball-kicking marines just increases the pressure until you inevitably snap and lose, having to redo the entire cup AGAIN. And there's no restarting, either! If you try to do that, you FORFEIT the game! The mercilessness of the AI in this game in higher cups is absolutely LEGENDARY and having to be put through ALL that for the ultimate reward of PETEY FREAKIN' PIRANHA is the very thing that made me retire from virtual soccer for years until I discovered game saves. Never would I have expected a Mario sports game to break me in the way it did.

You can still make-up Day 10. There was some confusion about the question, so you got lucky haha.
