Sonic Runners (iOS/Android) - Thread Version 2.0

Recommended Posts

I have wanted to watch the traffic from the game for a while but I'm way too lazy.

which would cause all the stuttering, heat, and any other issues you could possibly think of.

Why? It's just a bunch of HTTP requests. It not really performance intensive and doesn't even begin to compare to the performance requirement of running the game itself. Also, do you have the reponse packets to the requests? How much do they weigh?

Wait are all those definately add requests?

Some must be contacting the server/checking for updates/syncing red ring numbers?

of course not

most of them are requests for player data

and all info are encrypted

but those are silly requests and can be done in a single or 2 requests , not 10

and every time you have to play another level , there will be another pile or requests

you got a red rings ? prepare to send sega a note for how much red rings you got

The LTE Radio and (even wifi chip in any phone) uses alot of power, if the radio is constantly being used, alot of power is being used.

Believe me, you can also do a google search "LTE battery life", and you'll find tons of articles illustrating it.

As for stuttering, yes your device pooling http requests can cause stutter, because your processor is processing the data downloaded by the radio, which if its a big file, like a video ad, can cause performance issues.

maybe you was unlucky and you got too many ads or something was not right and they kept send you the same add

It is possible that had happened, but i feel that the fact that it did happen for me, it could happen for someone else. It would explain some of the issues we have reported in the past.

I timed how long it takes for this game to load and it was 90 seconds long. There are 5 load screens before world release it was 4 total. First you have regular load screen, then Sega screen, then the Sonic Runners screen, then the loading bar screen, and finally the hints screen than. I am still stuck in S* since people keep getting high scores that I can not reach like 4 million points and I hate those drills because annoying and they make me lose.

Guys, I seriously need some suggestions for buddy combinations. It's getting harder to get good scores.

-Lvl 0 Dark Chao (Power, Normal)
-Lvl 0 Jewel Chao (Speed, Normal)
-Lvl 0 RC Piggy (Flight, Normal)
-Lvl 0 Yacker (Speed, Rare)
-Lvl 0 RC UFO (Flight, Rare)
-Lvl 0 Chip (Speed, Super Rare)
-Lvl 0 RC Battle Cruiser (Power, Super Rare)
-Lvl 1 Skull Chao (Power, Rare)
-Lvl 1 RC Gold Piggy (Flight, Rare)
-Lvl 2 Easter Bunny (Power, Rare)
-Lvl 3 Genesis (Flight, Rare)
-Lvl 4 Cartridge (Speed, Rare)

Ok this is the only combination you'll EVER need.

excuse incorrect names here...

Sharah (the one you get for ranking up in different leagues.)

+ any of the following...

RC Spaceship = For getting red rings.

That companion who gives you a random colour power = For points

Or....

Rappy (if you have it)

Basically as you get to higher levels your characters keep colour powers and normal powers for a long time. Combine that with careful use of bonus items. You can be in a situation where you always have a colour power or a normal power active.

Thats why EVERYONE S class uses sharah and the other fairy.

But because Rappy is so OP (or was) combining him with Amy means you don't even have to try... which is why the top S rank class is nothing but Amy + Rappy + Sharah.

The other fairy = Merlina

And to be honest, I don't use Merlina much even though I maxed her. You need your combo to reach 1000 (950 if you're using a fly character) before it activates, and you may end up with the crappy drill power. Not to mention, on max speed sections if you don't land properly after your wisp power ends or land in an area with moving drills coming towards you, you're screwed.

Shahra + Wizard Chao (both level 5) are fantastic. Get a magnet and invincibility and you're laughing. If I'm not using Wizard Chao, then Chip. But Chip is level 0 for me and sometimes he is useless when you die JUST before you reach the Eggman section.

Just got to 300,000 cakes on the birthday event. Is it worth continuing after that final reward of 50 red rings? My Genesis buddy is only level 3 and I've had no luck in increasing it's level on the roulette. It keeps giving me Cartridges.

There is no further rewards after 300,000. The Genesis isn't on the roulette I think

I've got a question. Should I focus my efforts on leveling up Sonic only, or should I level both him and Tails up?

You will get told to level Sonic only because he is considered the easiest character to use. I level up all my characters equally that way I am not handicapped in what character I can use. However focusing on one may help you to score better points more easier.

Just level up whoever you're better with, or Classic Sonic if you have him because his increased distance bonus makes him outclass both unless you are really good with flying type. Also, another useful companion I haven't seen mentioned is Pumpkin Chao; my most recent high score would be about 860,000 less if it weren't for him (score was 17.6 million).

Btw, on my iPhone 5C, and possibly on all devices, it's possible to skip video ads by pressing home then returning to the game. However, if I try doing that on a revive ad then it just returns to the retry screen with only the red ring option.

I use a combination of a maxed out Shahara and level 3 Chip, along with Sonic and Tails. Shahara mostly gives me magnets which is incredibly useful for picking up as many score gems as possible, and Chip is effectively a third character that runs automatically, is invincible and has a small magnet radius as well. At level 3 he goes on for 30 seconds, though 35 seconds if you are using a speed type character.

Speaking of level up characters here. They have raised the amount of rings needed to level a character up. I won classic Sonic but noticed he needs 300 rings to begin the level up instead of the previous 200 rings as before. My other characters were all at level 60 and only needed 43,400 rings to move up but it is 65,100 rings instead. Here is the list of how many rings you needed before the worldwide release.

The exact number of rings needed to bring character to level 100 is 3,905,000 rings. I figured out the pattern through careful detailed observation.

Sonic Runners rings needed to level up the character.

I play on iOS and I have a question. If at any point in time I'm playing Sonic Runners, and I decide to text someone or I receive a call, the game crashes without fail. I can be 5 million points in, and if my friend calls me during the run, I'm screwed. I'm on an iPhone 6 Plus. Has anyone else encountered this issue?
