Sega Plans 2015 - Service Games Games

Your Sonic announcement this year is Sonic Runners.

The only chance of something is if it randomly turns up at an E3 conference but I'd say that's pretty unlikely.

Microsoft have said their conference is mainly going to be First Party titles and I can't see it appearing at Sony's at all.

Yeah usually new Sonic shit gets announced in April, maybe early May. The fact that we're past the halfway point of the month and SEGA's not doing anything at E3 is proof enough for me that we're not getting a major Sonic this year.

Fine by me, lord knows the series needed a fucking break.

I'm betting that the series has plans for the 25th anniversary. There doesn't need to be a Sonic game every year, and we're better off for it.

Most of these were bad Mega Drive ports/emulations. What didn't get pulled though? The fantastic StealthTax Sonic remakes. Go figure.

Please, SEGA, I want some more.

It's a bit weird they got rid of the genesis games, along with Jet Set Radio.

On another note, Sonic 4 Episode 1 is still up on IOS, meaning it's survived the initial games removal from Sega

It's a shame Jet Set Radio has been pulled, I thought that was a really great port. The controls took some getting used to but I really enjoyed it.

That's...a lot of mobile games they removed, but most of them were bad ports anyway (not that I ever played em anyway). Kinda odd that Sonic 4 Episode 1 still remains though considering how infamous it is now.

There was nothing wrong with JSr except it's controls, and they were a problem even on the Dreamcast original. Plug a controller in and you'l be fine. I managed to complete it with touch controls on iPhone even. However, I guess it just wouldn't really generate many more sales. Shame.

Oh likewise, I completed it quite happily on my iPhone. I remember the port getting a lot of flak about the controls when it came out, but I thought SEGA were pretty brave to try to bring a game as complex as JSR to mobile, and I thought they did a damn good job of it. I hope it will return in the future.

Then there's all that restructuring over at SoA...yeah, they definitely need a break. I assume this also means we won't get SoS and Sonic Boom this year.

I'm still holding out a bit there because there's been no formal denial over on the SoS Facebook group. What we were given was a comment that neither confirmed nor denied SoS... so it's still a remote possibility.

Which gives me hope for this year, given that SoS and Sonic Boom funding is directly tied to whatever game is coming out.

While there is the possibility for private funding, some of the numbers thrown out for budgets make me think that's unlikely, which means the event would be SEGA-funded... which means SEGA, for all its financial woes, must not have said "Hell no" to funding any events this year. That would be grounds for an immediate "not happening," I think.

We'll find out in the next few weeks what's going on both event-wise and game-wise, I suppose.

Right now SoA moves and does not serve EMail.

Hello

During this outage, messages sent to themedia@sega.com email address and the email addresses of your regular PR contacts will be returned as “Undeliverable”. Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend.

The move is finally here, it seems.

Could we expect to know Sega of America's new location before the end of the month, by any chance?

If they're moving to SoCal I would expect them to go to L.A.

That's been confirmed since all the positions have "Greater Los Angeles" on them.

There doesn't seem to be an exact address or city yet though.

SEGA's looking for brands in the US to utilize Sonic in their ads. Guess we could be seeing more ads like the Progressive one.

http://creativepool.com/magazine/advertising/fancy-using-sonic-the-hedgehog-in-your-next-ad-campaign.4549

I ponder how many of them will feel just as out of place.

...let's not forget the cringeworthy crossing of Modern Sonic's design with Classic Sonic sound effects. Like... what?!

I understand the need to use the official current design but it was very surreal. That commercial was stuck between the need for modern design with the need to appeal to nostalgia.

Whoa whoa whoa wait a second....

There's tons of stuff in that video which is unknown? The Fanta App? The Burger King promotion (guessing it was a recent one given the other stuff), The ASR scratch card competition?

Also found an hilarious 2010 SEGA recruitment video.

The video completely lost my ability to take it seriously when it flashed "INNOVATION" as one of the traits to Sega's games...and then followed it with footage of Sonic 4 Epi. I.

Licensing Expo has updated their website.

Sega of America's booth description is interesting, it's just Sonic stuff, both Boom and Sega Sonic, no other franchises listed.

That's not too surprising. Outside a hyper retro crowd I don't think non-Sonic SEGA would sell very well.
