I can't believe this is happening and I don't approve of this most imbecilic of decisions.  For starts, I find it very ungainly of Sean to simply divulge the details about the personal lives of our memberbase in the topic title like that.  Second, that piece embedded in the OP is quite obscene.  Would it have hurt to show some tact to those who think they are hot but are in fact not?  I highly implore the administration of this formally highly-esteemed communications platform to reconsider this decision for the good of everyone.

Sooo in case some people haven't picked up on it, yeah this is an April Fool's joke lmao

 

Being on SSMB staff was a great time for me, but I eventually lost the steam for it. There were a lot of reasons for my retirement, but one of the major ones was that I felt kinda lost on the forums, that I didn't really fit in anymore. The mods are a buncha great folks, seriously they're so great to work with, but I guess when Pelly and Wolfy left, I felt like I was alone in a sense, because they were there when I was appointed staff several years ago. Unfortunately those feelings of isolation kinda became more pronounced once I became a regular member again, and there were times when I thought I was basically just a blip on people's radars, which felt extremely jarring due to how well most members knew me as a moderator back in the day

 

Anyway I came back for today because I kinda wanted to see what it was like to have that pretty orange badge one last time or something. I often joked about it with the rest of the mods, and somewhere along the line it became an actual thing I was interested in doing. But the truth is, I don't really have the passion for the job that I once had. It's nothing personal, I think SSMB now is a different environment and there's nobody better suited for it than the current team of staff who are more active and interact with the rest of the community in their own ways.

 

I'm sure a lot of people are relieved that I'm not actually back for good haha. I know I'm not the nicest guy ever and that my attitude has probably generated some animosity. Still, I did what I felt was my personal best for the forums because I truly cared about maintaining it, and I loved doing my job for the longest time. Even now, I hold no grudges, even if some may still hold them for me. Some of the replies in this topic made me genuinely happy and for the first time in a while I felt accepted among you guys again. I'm thankful for my time as staff on the boards and wouldn't trade it away for anything.

 

(Also I might not leave immediately after today. I was thinking of sticking around for a tiny bit longer just so I can help out with the load that some of the other current mods may feel unenthusiastic about dealing with at the moment. We all get burned out every once in a while. XP)

 

I'm sorry for turning this joke topic into suddenly a really sappy heartfelt confession but I just wanted to get it off my chest, especially since I never really made a proper post detailing my thoughts about my position as staff, I think. Regardless of your opinion about me, I truly hope that most of you were able to get a few laughs out of it, even if they may have been at my expense. Thanks, SSMB.

Even though I was always giddy about having you back on board because you are totes magotes great staff material and one of the staffers I looked up to most- I hope you know I nor anyone else wants you to push yourself into something you don't feel comfortable doing. Passion for these things comes and goes, and trying to reignite it can be tiring, draining, and just all-around awful for the soul. So don't feel bad about it or anything; you're more loved on the forums than anything, and you'll always be welcome, on or off staff. <3 Still, seeing you with that orange banner was pretty hype.
