What if the Sonic characters had different voices?

The Sonic the hedgehog series is no stranger the having a voice overhaul.

The character of Sonic alone has been voiced by Jaleel White, Ryan Drummond, Jason Grithith and Martin Burke.

But what if the the direction of the voices were to change? What if they were made to intentionally sound different?

Who would you choose to voice the characters and how would you change the direction?

Sonic- Josh Keaton: Make Sonic sound a bit more care free and reckless with a voice like Ratchet

Tails- Colleen Clinkenbeard: Make Tails sound slightly older with a voice like Gohan or Luffy

Those are just a few of my opinions, share your own if you have any ideas! :)

As much as I adore Roger Craig Smith as Sonic, I do believe Sonic should go back to his Genesis/Dreamcast personality with a VA that fits a sassy yet whimsical and heroic character like Classic Sonic, especially since it seems that Sonic's gonna be more cutesy from now on in the main Canon. I'm not familiar with many VAs so I couldn't tell you who'd fit that role other than Ryan Drummond.

It may be weird, but I kind of think Liam O'Brien could voice Shadow. It just seems like a good fit to me.

I can't think of anyone else though. Like, I've been thinking about what character Johnny Yong Bosch could play but no one really has a personality that fits his voice.

Me and my friend had been talking about Kirk Thornton being too old for Shadow and thinking he should give Eggman a shot. I think he should definitely fit quite well. He'd fit him, and he's got some decent comic timing and can be intimidating, if need be, so it'd be kinda cool to hear him do Eggman. Someone like Matt Mercer or Troy Baker should take over as Shadow. Or even Roger.

For Sonic, I think Jason Marsden would be amazing as him. He's energetic, snappy, and he's got a natural youthful sound to his voice. But, the chances of him playing him is pretty slim. http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Jason-Marsden

I would absolutely love it if there wasn't a stretch of time where Rouge sounded like a wrinkly, smoked out old prostitute. That would've been just super.

Hmm...I do like the guy from the Sonic Boom show as Sonic quite a bit. For Tails, I'd try for someone without such an annoying and high pitched voice. His voice has always kind of grated on me for being so childlike.

Knuckles would be Liam Neeson, because potatoes.

Amy would be silent.

Hmmm...that's about all I can think of at the moment.

Going strictly by your description, I feel like that's in some part essentially what we have at face value with our current voice actors. 0.o

Okay yeah I'm gonna have to vote Josh Keaton as the next Sonic. Much brighter and more youthful than Smith, but a decent bit gruffer than Drummond. I can dig it.

I can't see anyone previously mentioned fitting Tails, though. I'd honestly have to think about him. And as for Knuckles or Shadow... it's hard to think of anyone who can do it better than Scott Drier and David Humphrey.

And Pollock is Eggman, I can't really find it in me to imagine him changing.

I've always thought Kid Goku's or Gohan's voice would fit Tails very well.

Really? I always thought Stephanie Nadolny sounded far too gruff and raspy for the characters she voiced in Funimation's dubs of Dragon Ball, DBZ, and DBGT. I can't imagine her voice would fit Tails either. To each their own though, I guess.

Silver- Eric Vale

That's the same thing I wanted during the recasting a few years back.

For me, Knuckles could have been voiced by Patrick Seitz (the voice of Germany, Dracula, Magnus) so that Sega could have someone who sounds like Fred Tatasciore or Patrick Warburton and not be either of the two.  Wait, scratch that, why not have Warburton voice Knuckles?!  I can somehow imagine Knuckles breaking into Kronk's improvised "theme music".

He can't be Patrick Warburton because he needs to be Liam Neeson.

"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you that I don't have money - but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills that I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let the Master Emerald go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you - but if you don't, I will look for you. I will find you, and I will kill you."

That would be the greatest thing ever, to be honest.

Anyway, since I really hate the way Rouge's voice began to sound with virtually every voice actress who portrayed her after Lani Minella, I decided to turn to the list of IMDb's top female voice talents to help me create a list of people who could portray Rouge in a way that I feel would be more fitting to her. After examining the list, I found  -
