I want a game with actual decent physics and being able to roll again.

The game should balance extremely fast segments with slower segments, too.

And if it's 2D, they should actually try to carefully make levels innovative and actually interesting and fun to play in again instead of throwing a bunch of rehashed shit at us so we can all go "those were the days..." .

Every level should have different design and a gimmick to itself. Each zone should be remembered for what it did.

Maybe one vocal song would be nice, but I want an extremely varied soundtrack too, sort of like SA1 or Japanese CD.

  • At least ONE more fully playable character. And I emphasize the character part: things like the drones don't count.
  • A serious story. I'd take Ian Flynn, Shiro Maekawa, or even Ken Penders over Pontaff at this point.
  • An in-game apology for Sonic Lost World. Also one for the Boom duology.
  • Chao Garden.
  • Re-railed characters.
  • Realistic graphics, more like the Adventures than SLW.
  • Full lyrical theme song.

I will never understand people hating rock songs(not just Sonic songs, songs in general) just cause the lyrics are somewhat cheesy. Hard Rock songs aren't about having flawless and meaningful lyrics, it's about attitude, spirit and energy, you know the very qualities that defined Sonic in the 90s.

The irony here is that 90s Sonic themes with said attitude, spirit, and energy weren't always conveyed Hard Rock music. The only 90s themes you could even say that to would be CD and SA1, whereas the other themes leaned somewhat towards a hybrid of orchestra and electronica.

  • 5 weeks later...

I have been thinking about the anniversary game a little today, and I think it would be pretty nifty if they combined a full new experience with a Sonic collection. Similar to unlocking the Megadrive Sonic in Generations.

Like, what if during the main game, getting certain trophies/achievements, or meeting certain goals, unlocked the older games, as well as music, artwork, old TV ads etc. You would have a new mainstream Sonic game, and an anniversary collection all in one.

I think that would be pretty exciting for me, as I'm a sucker for collectables and unlocks. It would also make completing the game a lot more fun when you never know what your going to unlock next :)

Yeah cause having bland orchestra is so much more Sonicy.

I would definitely be more excited for the new game if they brought it back. You know, make it feel like a freaking Sonic game.

I love the orchestral music in 06, Unleashed and Colors, but after that the orchestral music has been just good at best. Hell freaking Richard Jacques, SEGA music legend created some of the most bland orchestra music for the Boom games.

Orchestra has had its chance in 5 games, let's bring in some rock to mix things up.

That song is totally badass, what happened to Sega's music department?

Chao garden would be great, because now they could even try stuff with it like online multiplayer, and yes, what newer sonic games have been lacking are different characters, so they do indeed need more.

Honestly? multiple playable characters that all play the same with unique abilities is what I'm looking for. Sonic's great and all, but I do like other characters. I wanna play as Knuckles, Shadow, and Blaze. As for my dream Sonic game?

-Like I previously stated, I want more playable characters that all play the same, but with unique abilities. The characters I want are Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, Blaze, and Silver.

-I want a well written story, with no cringe-worthy dialogue. In other words, get rid of Pontac and Graff.

-Speaking of writing. I traditionally play the game with the Japanese voices. It's kinda irksome to see that the English subtitles never follow the Japanese dialogue, so I want that to change.

-I want gameplay akin to Sonic's and Shadow's in Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. If that's off the table, go back to the boost gameplay used in Unleashed, Colors, and Generations, only with proper physics. Maybe, it's been pushed to it's limits, but I feel there's more to explore with that style.

-I honestly kinda want the Super Emeralds to return. Hyper Sonic was hella cool, and it's a shame we haven't seen him in a Sonic game for roughly 21 years.

-I want a freaking hub-world. It gives the game life.

-I want Crush 40 to return. Yeah, it's hella cheesy, but so is Sonic.

<3 One of the best vocal tracks the series has ever had and no one will ever be able to convince me otherwise.

Anyway, I can think of quite a few things that can get me hyped for the next main series game;

Multiple Playable Characters: Sonic is awesome and all, but I have been wanting to play as the likes of Tails and Amy again for years now and no, I'm not interested in Boom. Everyone should have their own special skill (Tails' flying, Knuckles' ability to glide, ect) while still having the same core gameplay.

Adventure-style Gameplay: I love the boost games, but I've recently been wanting to revisit the gameplay of the Adventure games. Hell, add in the parkour from Lost World and polish it up to make it more smooth and seamless. I'd run with that.

Hub Worlds: I don't mean Generations' freaking White Space or 06's dull as hell locales. I'm talking about what we got in Adventure and Unleashed. Places that have tons of charm, interesting people to talk to, cool landmarks and places to hang around in, and so forth. You know, to help give the world of the game an identity, rather than just be a bunch of levels stringed together

Surrealistic levels: Give me my checkerboard soil. Give me my giant casino levels. Give me my wacky places that also have a hint of realism to them. Think what we got in Generations. Or, failing, that, I'll take a retread of Unleashed.

Better Story: I don't have anything major against Pontac and Graff, but they haven't really written any particularly good stories since they started in 2010. There are better writers out there I think should be handed the reigns. I'd love it if they brought back Shiro Maekawa. Give me better characterization, better use of the characters, and an overall competent plot, and I'll be happy.

I guess what would excite me most, ultimately, is just things that indicate that they actually care what the fans want - whether that's adding more playable characters, or more interesting storyline, or whatever. Just something to let me know they're actually paying attention to their fanbase. What it signifies is almost more important than the thing itself, in a way.
