Xbox Games with Gold: It's like Playstation Plus, with really old as hell games

You may know about Playstation Plus (With their free games via subscription and all that), but you probably don't know/sort of know about Xbox's take on it, Xbox Games with Gold. Every month, they provide free games on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and while we've been given great selections like a ton of great Arcade games (Battleblock Theater, Dust: An Elysian Tail, Dungeon Defenders, etc.) and full releases like Assassin's Creed 4, some selections are sort of lame (*Cough Cough* Pool Nation FX).

Here a few things you should know about Games with Gold.

 

-If you have a gold subscription at the time, you can get the selected games for free. You can keep them even when your subscription ends, something that's different with PS Plus. What should be noted is that this only applies to Xbox 360 games. If your subscription ends, you will lose your licenses to your Xbox One games. To put it simply, if you have an Xbox One, Games with Gold works exactly like PS Plus.

-Also, you won't get this benefit on Xbox 360 (Or One for the matter) if you just snag a 14-day trial or less for Xbox Live Gold. You will be able to get this if you use a trial that lasts a month, however.

-If you miss out of a Games with Gold offer, you miss out.

-Even if you don't own the other console, you can pick up Games with Gold games from either Xbox One or Xbox 360 regardless if you don't have either one of them.

-Previously, Xbox One users only got to have one download each month, while 360 users got to have 2. Following July 2015's Games with Gold selection, this won't be the case anymore, with One users now having 2 downloads.

This month, we also had Just Cause 2 on Games With Gold as well, not just Thief.

True, but Just Cause 2 came out nearly 5 years ago. Even then, it's way more popular on PC with it's modding and it's multiplayer.

I know that, as I am part of Just Cause 2's PC community.

Still, it's worth a shot trying it on console. My cousin has it on PC, yet he decided to get it on Games With Gold because "why the hell not?"

Looks like the Xbox Live Games with Gold for July has begun. It's not on the Games with Gold page yet, so you'll have to manually find the 2 games currently playable for free from Games with Gold.

 

Plants VS Zombies. (Lasts from July 1st-15th)

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (Xbox One only) (Lasts for all of July)

 

Gears of War 3 will be free in the second half of the month (July 16th-31st). So Many Me will replace Pool Nation FX on July 16th and is gonna be on there til August 15th (You heard me right).
