It's been far too long since I last updated anywhere other than the Sonic Cage Dome (older updates are here).

This seems the right time to get back into it.

For those who can't remember, Super Sonic Knockout has been the single outgoing project of mine being made with Game Maker 8.1. Unlike other Sonic games, this one brings an experience like no other, blending platforming and some of that signature Sonic style to the fighting genre.

Only 5 days to go! I've been fixing bugs and glitches for 2 days now. I managed to fix one fatal error too. I did find the time to get some new bits in though...

I finished the Credits screen and given players the opportunity to either continue their last save or begin a new one when they start the game (There is an auto-save function in the game too, you can turn that on and off). Down-jumping has also been simplified.

Also, there are 2 new articles on the website since the Saturday. Go check them out HERE.

I've updated the ARENAS webpage today with 4 brand new screenshots paired side-by-side to their older counterparts.

The Chaos Attack animations for all 5 playable characters are finished now. You'll see how good they look in 2 days when SAGE '09 opens.

I've been getting some great feedback from this demo. Thanks to you guys and others, I've been made aware of various glitches (usually sound) and good ideas. Please continue to bring on any complaints and suggestions as they help me out more than praise (though thats always good).

I haven't been working on the game as much now the demo has been released. I'm deciding what content will be released for the next demo (chances are the priority will be adding what what Demo 3 had but this demo didn't).

There are more updates The website, including a list of how to get all the emblems in Demo 4 (it's not cheating).

^ Well, I did make the controls to my liking, but I should of gone to training XD. I didn't know how to do Air Combos or activate CHAOS mode. I'll download and try it again this friday........after I play through the 1st zone of Sonic Rebirth :P.

I really love this game because it's full of adrenaline-pumping action, it's colorful, and it has a smooth framerate. However, on Stage2 I keep triggering some weird bug upon confronting the purple EggPawn with the gun.

(And if I remember correctly, I kept triggering this exact same bug in the previous beta version from last year.)

When Sonic punches the purple EggPawn while he is in the process of firing the gun, an error box pops up in the middle of the screen and the game crashes.

@DarkJedi: I hate that glitch. Same glitch, different cause. I think I've fixed it.

Anyway, I'm here to finally make a new update... with screenshots!

I've managed to finish and debug the Twinkle Snow arena. This time, you can break the bridge with a well-place Slam Combo. For more news, be sure to go to the SSK website/blog thing.

Yes you can. First you need to unlock Mission Mode (beat Story Mode stage 1), than beat Mission 1 to unlock Gemerl.

For getting the rest of the emblems you can look at this post I made in the blog HERE.

Okay, so I managed to get a new update for you all. Some of you know what I'm gonna be talking about this update (See the full article here!):

menu06l.jpg

In other news, tests with trying to make the attacks faster have fallen flat, and some moves are now failing to work properly. Seeing as there are also plenty of people who do not mind the attack speed as it is, the attack speed is going to remain the same.

The project hasn't died!

There's a new blog post up on the Website, to celebrate 365 days of working on the new code of SSK. Click the link to see the whole post, but here is the stuff you want to know:

Thanks to all the feedback and fresh-testers I've managed to get, the game is almost completely glitch-free. A new tutorial is almost completed to give first-players a showing of every player action, the A.I of characters and badniks have been refined, various actions are now easier (like wall-jumping)... oh, and the new VS Mode.

So, I ask this. Apart from a new demo, what do you want to be the first new thing you see from SSK? A video? Some artwork? Screenshots? Anything within reason.

Comments here or on the site will be read, of course.

After 2 years of posting the last one (and 6 months of no updates here), a new gameplay video has been released! It features new stages/areas, various new VS configurations and some improved gameplay elements.

In other news, a couple of new characters are now almost ready for battle, and the Emblem Gallery has been completed (check the blog site for screenshots). Expect another video soon once more major updates have been completed.

Monthly update GO!

I managed to complete the Hidden Palace stage (the new stage shown in the video above), which now includes switch-activated hazards (something that I'm sure will become more common in the future)

To celebrate, I've added some screenshots of the palace to the SSK Arenas Page, and there will be more uploaded very soon. Also, I've nearly finished the slot gimmick for the improved Casino Paradise arena, so I added a screen that too:

battle14q.jpg

In other news, I just finished fixing a slew of small AI bugs and fixed a couple of other problems that hampered me for quite a while, so now I can get on with finishing what should have been done ages ago (the missing characters).

A demo is highly unlikely, mainly because of how there are still more characters to make from scratch and more story stages to complete.

If we can sort out Internet at our holiday destination, I will be supplying daily updates for the week like I did last year.

Happy New Year everybody! Once again, it's been too long since I updated here. Time to remedy that and hopefully get some kind of response along the way XD.

...And the blog post about it.

The trailer features gameplay from 2 characters and also bunch of other stuff like the new Emblem Gallery. Only one character featured is new. The other character though is now actually complete (it had several missing moves). Its also far easier to make videos now, so they might actually become a more regular thing.

As you may or may not know, the server I have originally been with has started showing its cracks to everyone and not just myself. I have now moved servers to x10hosting.com. Please be sure to change your bookmarks and your RSS subscriptions (if you have them).

I've been following this game for awhile now actually and I'm really excited for it. It's great to see it's still being worked on after so long. I haven't gotten around to playing the most recent demo but I do plan to eventually.

So I got myself a Facebook account to keep up with things at university, but I'm not shy to expanding my audiences as well.

As a result, you can catch SSK on Facebook as part of a plan to boost publicity. Be sure to spread the word, and I'll surely be motivated to complete this game even faster. Its still early days, but the page will be as updated as the blog-site. Click the button to check it out!

PS: I'm still working on Chaos, Volcan, and the rest of Demo 5's Story Mode. The main problem is getting graphics together so the characters have enough decent moves and... the story to follow is as awesome as I imagine it.
