Well if anyone was wondering if a big name YouTuber was going to play this, here you go.

Yeah, I saw that earlier today. I was nearly falling out of my chair laughing. It was so bizarre, I just... it was fantastic. Games were horrible, but the video is great. xD

That Eggman Origins game is a strange mixture of hilarious and absolutely horrifying.

I'm glad Game Grumps played all of it so I didn't have to. It was hard to watch at times, and I couldn't even imagine playing any of it.

I did a thing, for this thing

In summary, Sonic Dreams Collection is a bizarre trip through your psyche, and it'll have you dreaming of horrifying creatures from the pits of hell for weeks.

10/10

I've found out that if you leave the SegaNet window open in the background for a while after you log in, it starts playing some weird old foreign music (at lest foreign to the US).  The language kind of sounds like its spanish.  It stops when you click on the SegaNet window again.

I havent timed how long it takes for the music to start, but I'm guessing somewhere between 20-35 minutes.

EDIT: While looking around online for anything new regarding this game I found a dude on 4chan that said this regarding the song: "It's a song sung in Brazilian Portuguese. I speak the language. Lyrics don't turn up on Google. It's a love song about loss."

Could be true, but seeing as this is 4chan, its just as likely to be a lie i guess.

The game developers, Arcane Kids, already have a reputation for creating religiously offensive indie games.

Oh, and also, why hasn't anybody truly tried exploring Eggman Origin yet? I would like to see that "burning house" one of the Eggies mention.

Religiously offensive? How so? I don't recall that. Zineth was great and had almost no narrative, Bubsy 3D is just something about artsy fartsy devs, House of 1000 snakes is a joke game about snakes, and Perfect Stride isn't out yet. Have they even made anything else than those and this?

I imagine most of y'all are sick of seeing random internet articles going on about how Sonic should die or be mocked or whatever, so here's something a little bit different:

http://www.destructoid.com/sonic-dreams-collection-mascots-legacy-and-audience-perception-307313.phtml

Written by Laura Kate Dale (UK editor of Destructoid and one third of the Podquisition team), the article seeks to analyse what kind of meaning Sonic Dreams Collection has in terms of Sonic's legacy and how the world at large perceives the series and its fandom today. I think it's a pretty damn interesting observation, and I wanted to know what you guys think of it.

An interesting analysis; some of the superficial points of similarity had struck me before, but I hadn't made the deeper connection.  (No attempt made to account for Eggman Origins, though, I see.)  I'm a little discouraged by the attempt to draw attention to Adventure and the post-'06 games as evidence of the greatest disparities in the series, as that seems like a bit of a slippery slope to the hackneyed and facile "Game X ruined the series" arguments, but as a non-value judgement I don't think it's unreasonable to say that there are disparities there, that there was a stylistic break once it became feasible to have more elaborate plotlines and character voice acting, and when that broke down there was a further stylistic break, this time a more continuous one.

I guess that, if the argument is that Sonic Dreams Collection is a reflection of the experience of being a Sonic fan... that I would perhaps have preferred a parody of the reasons why that should be the case.  I think there could be a good (within certain albeit unusual parameters) fangame produced on that theme.

I listen to a podcast that Laura Kate Dale is a host on, and I think she explained it a lot more succinctly and clearly what she sees about this collection as it relates to the public perception of Sonic, that without any sort of quality games coming out, the most notable Sonic related things are the strange things coming from the sort of internet niche that does this sort of thing in unironically.  It could be seen as saying that they need to get their act together or have Sonic remembered for this sort of thing.

This is all I have to say. I have discovered this by watching Game Grump's playthrough of it and it has the same effect as watching your own Sonic fan innards get torn piece by piece, A.K.A. this game contains as much evilness as if all the MacGuffin gods of the Sonic Franchise just decided to use their evil for a purpose much, MUCH more scary.

Don't play it. Don't touch it. Don't look at it. Don't THINK about it. And if you have you don't know it yet but you have given up your soul to Satan and he's going to ruin your life for the rest of it and then makes you enter Hell through Sonic's eyes. Yes, that includes me. I wish I could relate to all the pain and suffering you will have to endure when Iblis will come to eat your soul but sadly I can't. You are all doomed to extinction as well as the rest of the human race.

......Have I made a good Holder creepypasta yet?

hi there. i recently downloaded Sonic Dreams Collection, but i dont download it to play it. i was curious about how many secrets keep the game while you play or in the data files. i found that in every level of Sonic Movie Maker have an Eggy who wants something of the stage. but i'm not here to talk about that. i'm here to talk about some strange files in the game. in extra data file, there are 5 folders: .Legal Fees, Apache 2.0, Documentation, Snake Oil Engine Files (CRITICAL), Unsafe Files (use at own risk). in Unsafe Files there are 3 folders, but the most curious folder is Rogue Data, which contains a file called attic.zip, which contains a folder with the same name and inside that folder there is a DS file (yes, a Nintendo DS rom file, or some sort of that) and 3 .bat files. in extra data file, in Snake Oil Engine Files, there is a file called clownrace_example_project.naga, a file which i dont know how to open, but with a weird name. in Documentation there is a folder called Printout, which contains a file called BringBackBilly.petition. i also dont know how to open this file. in .Legal Fees there are 2 folder: coolatv, which contains a image with a download code for something...(?), and the other folder is called jo (which is the name of the Arcane Kids leader). this folder contais a text file which says this:

To: all@arcanekids.hotmail.fr

please stop buying Earthbound (SNES) on Wii vertical console we already have enough copies of it nobodies even playing it

*sigh*

Podquisition Lady took that whole article to say "people who live on the internet see Sonic fans as scary sexual deviants, isn't it a bit worrying that this seems to be, currently, the thing most associated with the franchise and seemingly it's legacy?" I'll just add article that to the pile of evidence I collect in my subconcous that everything related to Podquisition is nowhere near as good as I'm continually told it is.

That's part of my 'problem' with Sonic Dreams Collection, it's not saying anything that radical - it's basically 'Sonic recolours - lol' 'Sonic porn - lol' 'Weird fetishes in hentai, especially Sonic Hentai - lol' 'self inserts - lol' 'it's a cartoon animal you weirdos - lol' and 'The Dreamcast's online function doesn't work anymore - lol' and mixing these with the most basic of ways of make people laugh, gross-out or be disturbed and yet people are writing huge articles about what it means. It's a fine in and of itself, it make me chuckle, it made me a little disturbed but it's not doing anything amazing or offering any amazing insights or observations (nor, i doubt, was it meant to) - It's not Bill Hicks, it's not Billy Connolly, it's not even Dennis Leary, it's Andrew Diceman Clay .

While I'm moaning - it's also almost entirely parodying things that you'd only get if you live on the internet or are part of the current internet culture/generation/whatever or Sonic fandom - to my mum, to my old school mates, to the bloke who works in the Fish Shop none of this will make any sense and won't come across as a comment on anything. These people, the majority of my country, only associate Sonic with the things Sega wants you to, to them he's a cool hedgehog who fights Dr Robotnik, he's a cartoon character, and old video game character, a mascot. Of course they probably won't play it you say, yeah fair enough but they are the kind of people who will watch funny YouTube videos on their phone and let's face it, watching other people play Sonic Dreams Collection is one of it's biggest pluses, something I think was fully intentional.
