Anything you want from the franchise that'd never realistically happen?

A genuine crossover with the Super Mario Series that isn't Smash Bros, or Olympics, and is a platformer, 2D or 3D. Not asking for a grandiose story with deep character interactions. Just a quality mashup game that mixes elements of my favorite platformers together. The only real obstacle I can see is finding a reason for anyone to play as both characters. Seems like Sonic can do anything Mario can do but faster and better.

Also a second pipe dream would be classic Sonic remasters that have an art style similar to Ducktales remastered, on all systems with all the mobile version improvements.

  • 2 weeks later...

A modding community for Sonic Heroes. I want a mod called Sonic Hero.

Where it's basically Sonic Heroes but modded without the team mechanics. I love Sonic Heroes and the team mechanic, but as a kid for fun I'd sometimes get my team mates trapped in those jelly fish enemies or on switches on purpose just to see how far I could get into the level without them hehe

Oh, I got one that I know I'll never get.

A crossover of Sonic and Freedom Planet! I can imagine the chasm of differences between the two settings sparking some interesting reactions between the characters, like Lilac and Co encountering humans for the first time, or GUN going at it with the Three Kingdoms. Would be incredibly one-sided tho - Sonic characters are generally much more powerful than the characters of Freedom Planet, with the only FP character that could pose a serious threat being Brevon. I definitely couldn't see Spade, FP's equivalent to Shadow, coming out well in a fight with the Ultimate Lifeform. It would be interesting to see tho.

One thing I want to happen with the fans more than the franchise:  Them to sto pasking for SA3.

We've already had it since 2008, it's Sonic Unleashed

I want Sega to explain why they put Mighty, Ray, Bean, Bark and Fang on posters in Generations instead of leaving well enough alone. The characters were forgotten, but now there is this whole group of fans who never shut up about the posters and how Sega must be planing to bring them back soon.

Game wise, I want Sega to stop it with the joke-dialogue and just have some funny moments happen. The two Riders games had the best humor in my eyes.

This was explained by AAUK. It was his suggestion for a funny cameo that they liked enough to throw it in.

I don't really know if this is unrealistic, per se. I know SEGA and Sonic Team could technically do it, and it's more a matter of if they're willing to do it, but I'd like a Sonic game structured similarly to how Black Knight or Rush Adventure handled playable characters, making them selectable for every level/mission (as opposed to Black Knight limiting them to the final three/four levels), play similarly but distinctly, have their own ways of approaching levels with their unique skillsets, and I never once have to actually play as Sonic if I don't want to. Characters can share the spotlight and get equal time with Sonic again. I basically just want the option of proceeding through a story with any of the relevant characters, but doing so however I choose. Even better if SEGA rotates the cast and it's not just the classic four.

This is something that I brought up a lot lately, but I'm sick of solo Sonic and I want another ensemble game. This really shouldn't be as hard as current-day SEGA seems to make it out to be. People have modded games like Generations and even Lost World recently to put other characters in--they're only reskins, but I think it shows people still want these characters, and fans shouldn't have to put them in themselves. I'd ideally like a story that's not penned by the current writing team in Japan or the current western localization team for that matter (unless Pontaff want to step up their scripting game, it's time for someone new), but if I have to choose, just give me the characters with their personalities intact and some actual relevance/purpose to the overall game, and everything else will hopefully fall into place after.

I'd argue it's '06 since Unleashed really doesn't bear much resemblance to either Adventure games. "World Adventure" is about as connected to the original Adventures as "Rush Adventure" was (i.e. not at all). But I kind of don't want to go down this road.

These characters have been demanded to be returned for years, well before Generations even existed as a concept. So I'm not sure why any of that is his fault.

I didn't mean it was his fault, but because of the cameos the demand shot up big time. I personally thought the posters were a nice touch until the fans started being annoying. Sorry if I can off as rude, I didn't mean to be.

Chao Gardens

And if you want fans to stop asking about/for SA3...

Stop asking for boost. Stop asking for no stories. Stop asking for solo-Sonic. Stop asking for roots.

Stop asking for MarioxSonic crossover. Stop asking for Colors 2. Stop asking for Generations 2.

Telling people to stop asking for SA3 is the same as telling people to stop asking/talking about anything they do/don't want pretty much, some of the above being the most common demands.

SA3 is a name, not just a game. A game has not had THAT name, therefore no matter how identical other games may be, there has not been an SA3, it's the same as trying to say BOOM is SA3.

Guess what sequel we HAVE had? Sonic 4... Both in design of the Genesis titles, and NAMED that.

I'd personally love for Ryan Drummond to voice Sonic again. I know it'll never happen though because of the nonsense that went down between he and SEGA.

But do people really want a name, or do they actually want a game?

Both for the most part. However in regards to wanting an SA3 game, if it's in demand, provide it. Common sense business practice. Even if people got an Adventure-esque game, make more, not arrogantly say "but you had this!" when it has been years now since.

Sometimes I want a 3D spinoff game staring either Knuckles or Amy, Knuckles cause I thik there are still some nice stories that can be told with him and Angel Island. With Amy it is partly just to hear all the haters meltdown over her getting game. but it more a  case of me thinking she would be a great choice for a game using a variation of the Werehog play style from Sonic unleashed.

Heck, one can always make a game where Amy and Knuckles work together to save the world / find Sonic while abusing the buddy cop comedy that's sure to come out of having two hot heads with short tempers teaming up. :P

Yup, Thanks to me people who wanted acknowledgements to characters no longer in the active canon had a bone thrown to them in the only game where this would be possible. I'm sorry acknowledging the past in a game designed to acknowledged the past has ruined everything for you Shasonshil. :P

Also: You do realise this is the Sonic fanbase right? There's a whole group of fans who won't shut up about every single thing in the entire franchise.

I've got another one.

A cross continuity crossover fighting game featuring characters from all parts of the Sonic franchise past and present. Sort of what TMNT Smash-Up promised to be ( except it just ended up being a 2003 movie butt-kiss plus Rabbids )

Basically, all the most popular Sonic characters from the games, plus characters who were exclusive to the spinoffs they came from. It couldn't be that hard to make a decent roster considering how many spinoffs Sonic has had.

I've thought about that for a while. It could never happen what with all the legal red tape, especially regarding Archie. And it also seems like non comic-book properties don't much like to play with Multiverse spanning things like that for fear of brand confusion. ( Of course it's hard to tell Sega's stance on that what with Boom, the Comic, and the main series all going at once )

It's fine to ask fans to stop asking for Sonic Adventure 3, and it's fine to ask fans to stop asking for no story, solo Sonic, etc. It's not saying that they can't have that opinion, just that you don't think there's any point in asking for it, either because you don't think it would turn out well or it will never happen or both. Go ahead and keep asking that other people stop asking for those things and other people will keep asking that you stop asking for SA3. It's just opposing opinions.

I enjoyed seeing the posters in Generations, but as you said this is the Sonic fanbase and they just love talking. Sorry if I came off as rude when talking about you, didn't mean it in that way.

Thanks for making it possible to see Mighty and Ray and the others!

A game with Flynn as the writer and Taxman & Stealth as the coders.

#Flynn4Sonic!

I'm with the people wanting a return of the Chao Garden. Though I guess that isn't too unrealistic soooooo....

I've always been a fan of Hub worlds in Sonic for some reason...I don't know why I like world building and story, so for me the hubs in SA were really cool (as a kid at least) as well as Unleashed and I think if they did that right it would be cool. Something big, sort of like a 3D Zelda with Hyrule field and such. Like picture it. Giant island with biomes such as Green Hill-ish features, lava place, ice place, casino place, etc.. but all spread out. And I think if it was big and they made Sonic run really fast it wouldn't be a hassle getting from area to area. Of course actual zones would be great in the midst of it, but I dunno, if the controls were tight and the world had an actually good story to tell that made the player want to interact with the characters in it we could have a really awesome concept. Like Sonic Adventure/06/Unleashed/Boom hub worlds but polished and enjoyable.
