'Ey. Remember that idea I brought up about a Smash tourney on here where only low-tier characters were allowed? It's finally happening. This place has been pretty quiet for the most part in recent times and I thought we'd all do something short and sweet to spruce the community up. So I decided hosting another Smash tourney would be great for that sort of thing, especially after the one @Brad hosted back in January. Like that one, this one will be only on the Wii U version of Smash 4.

This tournament is like any regular Smash tourney, except well.. you're relegated to a certain batch of characters who are considered low-tier for reasons due them being underused or having many bad attributes that bring them down as a character. In this competition, maybe you'll be able to steal the show with a character most people barely paid any mind beforehand. This tournament will start this Friday, December 11 and continue until the end of Sunday, December 13. We'll be starting Smashing on Friday at 6:00 PM EST. After that you're free to fight anybody at any time due to it being the weekend and all! Please register in the tourney bracket linked above so you'll know who's fighting who. Also fill out the participant log in the form of a Google Sheet, it will help me keep track of all the members playing, your Nintendo Network IDs and what characters you plan to use! There's also a Discord chat were we'll all talk during our fights, PM me for an invite!

With all that said, let's move on to the rules.

Basic Game Rules:

• 2 stocks, six minutes. Best 2 out of 3, best 3 out of 5 in Grand Finals. If the game for any reason times out and you're both on your last stocks, you'll have to go through Sudden Death. However, this'll be unlikely anyhow so I wouldn't worry about it.
• All items are off.
• Custom moves and equipment are off. This includes having different specials for Miis.

If you use anybody but these characters (Ridley included!!!), you will be immediately disqualified. With no refund.

• Final Destination
• Battlefield
• Town & City
• Lylat Cruise
• Halberd
• Delfino Plaza
• Duck Hunt
• Castle Siege
• Dream Land 64

Prizes!

You won't be able to get your rewards right after the tournament due there not being an awards system integrated at the moment, it will come in a future update as per the staff, but it's not known when it'll happen. However, there'll be badges for the top three and everyone who participates! Here's what each member will get after said update:

• 1st place: A golden Smash emblem with "1st" along with another badge being a character head icon of their choice!
• 2nd place: A Silver Smash emblem with "2nd" on it, with a character head icon of their choice as another badge.
• 3rd place: Ditto as above, but with a bronze emblem.
• Everyone: A participation badge, it being a luminous Smash Ball imprinted with "Low-Tier Hero!" on it.

Extra Stuff You Gotta Do During This Thing:

• Send me the replays of all your matches so I'll be able to see how things went, I might even upload them all to view if I have your permission. After you fight your opponent, both of you have to report whether you won or lost and what the match ratio is (like 2:1 or something). I'll be sure to keep track of everything in this topic.
• HAVE FUN, YO. Remember that this is just a game. Don't feel bad if you lose early on in the bracket or don't end up winning a super close match, use it as fuel to strive yourself to improve by building upon your mistakes. Being civil and polite as possible will make this a great experience for everybody!

I'm not sure, dude. It'd be cool to do it again, maybe as a Game Night event since doing the same forumwide event two months in a row would exhaust people and it's not allowed.

Haha, what? Since when is Dedede low tier?  Dude's a monster. I remember back when Ness and Lucas were considered low tier; wish they still were so I could use them. Ah well!

Is slow as hell on both the ground and the air (even having the slowest airspeed), a mostly fragile projectile thanks to the fact everything can knock it back at him, slow attacks for the most part and generally just being massive combo food. He's also pretty weak for a heavyweight, most of his moves can't KO efficiently until above 80% (forward smash and dash attack kill early, but they're so slow and predictable that you may as well use them for hard reads) and doesn't even have a proper kill throw. His back and forward throws can't even KO Mario at the edge of Final Destination until 180%.

That and with him receiving no buffs whatsoever for the past year this game has been out while other previously bad characters have gotten important buffs, he's become a rare sight and considered one of the worst characters in the game. Almost all of his Brawl mains have dropped him, and there are like only three notable Dedede players and only one of them gets good results at national tournaments.

Hm, strange. I believe you, but one of my friends has been a Dedede main since Brawl and he's absolutely killer with him. I've been a Ness main for years and struggle against his Dedede in SSB4, and because of that he always seemed high tier to me regardless of his (lack of) popularity.

To be fair, anyone can be awesome with any character. I've gotten myself wrecked by Zeldas and Mewtwos before, lol.

I've also been maining D3 since Brawl. Love the big 'ol guy but he does have a lot of problems I wish he didn't have.

That, and he'd be truly OP if him doing his crouch caused a one-hit KO to the opponent.

If Dr. Mario were in this he'd pretty much wreck everybody on this list. Same reason I didn't include Kirby, Robin, or Lonk when I was originally considering them at first

Late hop-ins are alright from the starting period on Friday to Sunday, but I'll make exceptions if people are busy. Just be sure to get in contact with whoever you gotta fight.

You can play as how many characters you wish to, more than one person can play the same character as well. There's no limits on who to use really, the log just asks for who you'll use most lol
