So, where do you work? What do you do to pay the bills?

And if you don't mind sharing: what do you get paid by the hour? Annually?

I work as a Model at Hollister (not what you think hahaha, it's just the name they give the people who fold and put the clothes out on the floor). The manager there offered me a job after overhearing a conversation between me and my mom about how I need a job/money. Even though I don't really care for the clothing, I accepted her offer only because I couldn't find work anywhere else lol.

I might be getting a second job soon though, because working 4 hours every OTHER week at minimum wage ($7.10 USD) doesn't exactly cut it for me.... you know? Haha

I'm currently a lab technician at a metal plating facility. I basically make sure all the chemicals used in stripping, cleaning and plating the pieces are strong enough, as well as some other jobs.

Hi, I'm Blur and I do nothing but sit for a period of time, =3. I sit at a locally owned family record store in a small town behind a counter waiting for that slim chance that maybe a customer will come in during my 2 hour shift (4 hours on Saturday). In my obvious free time I like to pop in CDs, surf the computer, play guitar, or invite my friends over. Pretty much everything I do at home besides the video games part (which I bring in sometimes anyways, but shhh, 8D).

Ok, I'll stop being cocky, XD. I do get to do all of that but I get paid minimum wage. However, I live in Washington State, the state with the highest minimum wage which is around $8.50 now I think, =o. The only work I actually do there besides sell CDs and records to customers is enter in records on the computer data base, which any monkey could do, =/. I honestly think I only work there because the family needs time off for there lives too, XP. The only people that work there are the husband that owns the place, the wife, the daughter, and the son. And then there's me, =3.

Get's gas and food paid, so I'm good, =D. It's about 75 bucks a week, so nothing much. It's enough though, .

Currently being in my final year at university that takes up most of my time but I am in a weekend job working for a company called GameStation. It pays well enough and even though I absolutely hate it (working in a game shop isn't all it is cracked up to be let me assure you) and the management are incompetent I have made a couple of great friends there and it has made me a lot more confident and out spoken when in a large crowd. It pays my rent and bills though so it's not too bad.

I am getting a job interview for a full time job working in the government though so hopefully that will work out for me as that has really good wages.

Unfortunately, I don't at this time. Tough times in America are preventing me from getting a job. I was down-sized at my last job, which really sucked. I didn't like the job too much anyway and I'm glad I got down-sized from there. I've applied to Barnes & Noble (finally) last thursday and I have yet yo get a call back from 'em. I'm going to apply to CVS, cos I heard they're hiring and they need help. A new CVS a couple towns away from me just opened up. So I'm going to go and apply there.

I don’t work during the school year (double major really sucks up the time) but I do have a job over the summer(s).

The last two years I’ve been working in a Pet Hotel. I didn’t want to work with people, so I chose a job where I only dealt with Dogs and Cats. At first it was all cleaning up Poo (sucks) but after a week or two, management got wind of how good I was with the dogs (especially the violent ones) and I basically got permanent Day Camp duty.

It’s a sweet gig now. I get 12.00 an Hour to play with dogs all day. Keeps me in shape and keeps me happy. Sure I get various cuts and scrapes everyday, from playing with the pit bulls and rotties, but it is so totally worth it.

When me and my Brother left last summer, they begged me to stay. They welcomed me back with open arms the next year and when I left this time, I had to train EIGHT people to replace the two of us.

Who says the economy is doing bad?

Anyway as you can guess, I am very good at what I do. Too bad I am looking for an internship now, or I’d go back next summer.

Well I work in the same field as Eileanach but in another company called GAME Stores Ltd in my home "city" Inverness. I have been in the shopping center location since Summer of 2005 and like Eileanach said its not always what it cracks up to be some days. I was given an 8 hour contract at the beginning but as time went by I got more hours and became a valued member of the team with my (sort of) vast gaming knowledge . Though it is rewarding sometimes when someone comes in to find a game that is very hard to find then after a long search I manage to fine one copy of it and it makes that person so happy that they openly thank you for doing that for them, that makes me proud and happy to be there in that store. Oh yeah and the perks of the job are well worth it too .

I guess the "perks" of the job ARE worth it if you buy games regularly or game related merchandise. Sadly I don't so I give my discounts away to people. XD

You mean in YOUR GAME they actually look for stuff? My God you must have the highest customer service ratings. The GAME just around the corner from GameStation is really poor for its customer service we earn double what they do and we have customers come in and give us cakes, sweets and presents for helping them out so much. Our customer service is quality but Games around from us is not. It's good though all the more custom for us.

I don't have a job currently, the uni keeps me too busy for that. The last job I had was to lead a project in a company to migrate their data from Oracle DB to IBM CM, about a year ago.

I'll be looking into getting a summer job. Possibly running the concession stand at a public pool since my dad already got me a form for it, or maybe I'll see if I can find something better, idk. I'll also probably be doing some stuff for my dad's business. I help him with measuring the land, and digging holes and shiz.

Well, I got paid CL$400000 for the job (CL$200000 per month, and I worked 2 months until the migration was complete), which while it's not that much money in the long run, for a short (but annoying, yeah) job it was not bad.

Well I'm on the fast track of getting a job at a factory that processes and cleans linens for the hospitals around the area (200 mile radius to be exact, which is most of Michigan because of how far up in north Ohio I'm in now). I'll be working third shift, with ten-hour days at about $8 an hour. My job is basically pretty easy, feeding linens that've finished being washed into machines that dry, fold and sort them. Not my ideal job (wouldn't mind a job administrating a Windows NT or 2000 network) but right now with things, it's better than no job at all.

Maybe I can finally replace this 8 year old beast of a laptop of mine XD

I work part-time weekends at McDs, about 11-12 hours a week. Been there for the last two years and a bit. Contrary to what a lot of people might think, it's not half bad. The pay's not great (at least I get a bit above minimum wage, still), but I get on really well with practically everyone there. Being on good terms with the people you work with can make or break any job, really.

I need to agree with Mollfie I used to work with food (I worked in Greggs; bakery shop) and it was the worst job ever even though I liked the people I left as soon as a better one came up (which was about two weeks after it). I could never go back to working for the food industry.

Wow that was the same with me. My first job was with Safeway (now called Morrisons) in the bakery department always doing the ending shift and by god did I hate it and I mean really hated it cause all the time I would just make it for the final bus of the evening to get me home and the higher people would just leave me there to finish up and this is when I'm still new at the job not knowing how to do it properly and fast enough. Eventually after just two weeks working there I saw the openings at GAME and jumped for the chance to get it and I did of course. I was only in Morrisons for one month and I don't regret leaving them one bit. Though the funny part is after I left they had hired another guy who had the same name as mine and every time he was missing a shift there I was called to ask why I wasn't there and that kept on going for 10 months after I left it was funny as hell but also annoying.

I love my job title. I really do. Its completely overstated and overblown, but I don't care.

I work for Coventry City Council, and started as just a basic admin assistant. My department deals with building works for all Council owned buildings (ranging from schools to public park buildings), covering small oddjobs like fixing door handles to full-on refurbishments.

Last autumn I was promoted to Expert System User.

Basic idea is that I'll be the guy with specialist knowledge of all our software packages and various pieces of hardware, but without actually being part of the Council's centralised IT Team.

The job should also be pretty safe, as Council's rarely let people go. It may not have the best pay available, but it is certainly among the best for benefits. We have a scheme where if you work enough extra hours, you can take that time off as an extra day's holiday. So I exploit that to full...meaning I get over 50 days holiday a year. What's an extra hour a day if it means you can take an extra 18 days holiday a year? Don't get me wrong, I like my job, but it's made me apreciate free time all the more.

I work in retail; grocery store to be exact. I work in the Dairy dept and a lot of days I hate it.There are a lot of people in the store, getting paid more than me, and hardly do anything. I've been there five years...and I'm just barely making over mininum wage(My timing for raises/everything at that place sucked bad)... It's stupid of me busting my butt in that store when alot of people aren't even doing half that.If I was smart I'd stop working so hard, but my work ethic won't let me. XD Somedays I like getting stressed(Which is a lot actually) so people will get out of my way. But those are just rants, it's all paying off in the end anyway. They're paying for most of my college now (Yay!), just gotta get good grades and I'll get back my money! ^^ My next job I'm looking at may be forestry.
