Living In The World Of Sonic

I have some really interesting questions in mind to ask from experienced Sonic fans. I will write them down below, with my own answers:

- If you could live in one of the worlds/zones/dimensions/any places from the whole Sonic franchise, which would be it?

I have two answers for this question: the first is Station Square. I really love its spirit and appearance. I would talk to its peope, stay in the Hotel, hang out in Emerald Coast, go to Casinopolis or get away from the cops in Speed Highway like we all did in Sonic Adventure! I think the whole city looks great, and it is a simple but lovely town which seems like any other human-built city. My second answer is Mobius, obviously; but I can't really choose an accurate destination from it. I just love it in its whole self.

- If you could learn a special skill from the Sonic franchise, which would be it (such as Sonic Speed, warping etc.)

First I thought of running with the speed of sound, but I would only use that if I could also dodge and keep control of myself. I think running at high speed could be really dangerous, because you can crash hardly into other objects. But maybe dodging comes with Sonic's speed skills... I would also like to use Chaos Control and Silver's psychokinetic powers. But the skill which I would like to learn the most is simply being 'half immortal'. I mean while you play with Sonic games, you can jump down from any heights (which is not a chasm, of course), run fast (not only Sonic) and do awesome parkour and other movement tricks. I really loved that in Sonic games, there are amazing ramps, poles and other gimmicks which make the gameplay very exciting. So to sum it up, I would like to learn 'being a Sonic character'.

- If you could be a Sonic character, who would be it?

I would be Sonic. Since he's my favourite character, it's not hard to explain why. I'd love to be free, running fast and helping others. But to be honest, I would like to be any other Sonic character. I love them all, and I think all of them have their own traits. None of them is useless or unnecessary, they are parts of the whole Sonic universe. Maybe I would also be Shadow, because I am interested how would I make decisions with Shadow's head.

So these are my answers, and I am really interested in that how would You answer the questions! :)

I don't know about living in Station Square with the whole "getting destroyed by giant water monster" thing going on there, haha.

If I had to choose a Zone to live in though I'd probably choose one of the cities like Empire City or whatever that place Casino Night Zone is in is called. Granted there's not really much to choose from in Sonic games aside from big cities, unleashed stuff and foresty places, but I'd rather live in a place with actual people as opposed to Green Hill copies in the middle of nowhere.

For skill in the Sonic series I'd probably go with Silver's IT'S NO USE fingers because then I'd just be able to hurl around whatever I wanted to. I could also go with Super Speed, but at the moment there's not really many ways for me where I could put it to any good use.

And as for what Sonic character I'd be if I could be any one, I totally can't decide. Maybe I'll be Ken Penders, who knows.

1. Uh... I dunno. The locations change a lot. I'd go to sleep on hemisphere and wake up in another.

2. Eggman level of genius. I could then make a fleet of airships before I eat breakfast. With that ability, you're essentially capable of any and all abilities. Flying contraptions, time control, gravity defying switches, super speed. Everything. Everything.

3. Eggman.

I'm biased.

All the same, I don't really want to be a Sonic character or live in that universe. Throw me to Mass Effect's world instead... Post-Reaper invasion, preferably.

I'd be scourge because he's the king :P

I'd like to live in Station Square. Guess I'm one of those urban types. The only problem about living there is, well...

latest?cb=20100320214520

...You'd be taking some big risks. So as a secondary choice, I'd want to go to one of the most nostalgic areas of Sonic for me: Seaside Hill.

As for powers, I'd go with Silver's telekinetic powers. I could fly at high speeds, I get a cool glow AND I can pretend I'm a Jedi and i can use the Force to move things around with my mind.

I'd want to be Sonic if I could be any character, though.

1. Emerald Hill would be an interesting place to live.

2. I'm up for learning how to use guns and building a TV out of paperclips would be interesting. Then again, I'd love to be able to use hammerspace, because than I'd be able to carry anything.

3. Tails. He's so adorable and smart and I'd be up for having two tails!

I think I would live in the city of mobotroplis from the Archie comics.

I would love to be able to use chaos blast, such a destructive power.

I would love to be Shadow. He's my favorite character and it would be awesome to be as cool as him.

I was thinking you would pick Finitevus, so you could end it all.

1. Bygone Village. It's got some lovely ladies and everything is extremely quiet and uneventful. What things that do happen there are often complete madness. Pretty much the Dewford Town of Sonic. But unlike Dewford, Bygone has some trash TV for us to giggle at, and a resident "supervillain" who would make a perfect training dummy. Deep under the skin (mainly once you get to know the girls), there's a crime scene that's also rather easy to topple, but persistent. There's also some ruins of these "Ancients." Given they are called just that, do they predate the Gaia Temple Builders or even the Precursors?

2. The basic Sonic-char power set. Well duh. If I could have an alternative, maybe I could learn under the Order of Magicks, so I can go into battle against the Order of Ixis? Magicks Ebony sounds like a cool teacher. If I could take a pet, I'd get Soupy enhanced by the Order of Magicks. Here comes Magicks Soupy!

3. Grimer Wormtongue. A nice, comfy position aiding the most dangerous man in the world. You get to see a lot of chicks around you, and you've got enough power to save them from Roboticization. You can also set up a smear campaign in your boss's abscence, even!

Well, of course I meant living in Station Square before Perfect Chaos destroyed it. I think it was a lovely city. :)

Agreed. I wonder if Station Square rebuilt into a better city after the Perfect Chaos attack similar to how Ninjago City became New Ninjago City and it turned into this technological metropolis after a similar diaster involving giant monsters. If so, I would definitely live there no questions asked.

Where would I live? Well, one of the tropical island zones would be really nice for the beauty, climate, and general atmosphere (plus, they're some of the most iconic zones, so I could really "drink in" being in Sonic's world!), but I wouldn't want to live too far from civilization either. Emerald Town from Sonic Battle is near the beach, so maybe that would work. Plus, it's where Sonic and his friends allegedly live according to that game, so that would be a nice bonus.

What powers/skills would I like? Err...idk. To be perfectly honest, I don't really have much desire for "superpowers", so maybe I would just like to be super smart like Tails or Eggman.

What Sonic character would you like to be? Even though he's not my absolute favorite (though still pretty high up there), I think I'd choose Tails - the reason being that he's relatively similar to how I am now (smart, sweet and modest personality, etc.) I just can't imagine being someone like Sonic or Knuckles, or most other Sonic characters for that matter, because they're way too far off from my personality. Plus, I'd get to be Sonic's best friend and sidekick...that's pretty awesome, right?

I know this kinda veer off-topic, but the existence of this thread reminds me of why I'm frustrated that Sonic Team has never bothered to actually develop Sonic's universe, because the idea of Sonic the Hedgehog and the world he lives in is so incredibly engaging.

C'mon, guis. That Chaos attack was one time and who coulda seen that coming? If being roughed up one time rules out a place from living... *coughohnoidroppedsomething*

EarthSonicUnleashed.jpg

*cough* then I think it's safe to say living in the Sonic world is highly unrealistic :/ :\ :/\/\/
But seriously, if I had to choose, I think I'd live in Central or Empire City due to being a city boy for my entire life. Leaning more on Empire City because it's like NY in terms of scope and that's pretty neat. Also, job security. And night clubs <.< >.>

If I had to choose a superpower, it'd definitely be super speed with the added super agility and flexibility since running, even if I'm rusty and can't do it as well due to previous injuries (R.I.P my ankle and tibia bone T^T) is one of my all time favorite activities and I'd love nothing more than to globetrote at hypersonic speed. Also, super speed is my favorite superpower so...no contest. Also, doing shit for the lulz and being able to get away with it is pretty cool.

If ye haven't guess, I'd be Sonic not only because of the reasons above but because he embodies total freedom, not being restrained by what path has been set out for him and being able to drift wherever whenever and because he's not afraid of being himself. Also he's blue and that's a pretty neat color.

- If you could live in one of the worlds/zones/dimensions/any places from the whole Sonic franchise, which would be it?

I wouldn't wanna live in any place due to the basically impossible-to-traverse geography with all the loops and risk of being mauled by robots or spawn of the monster of the week, but if there was a small garden-like version of a Zone that I could visit, it would either be a Chao Garden, for obvious reasons (low maintenance pets that are only age when I'm in the same room as them? Fuck yeah!) and any of the Green Hill esque Zones, or just Green Hill. Lovely colors all around, gorgeous vegetation including beautiful grass's always two crisp shades of green and seems to always be the same perfect length, sunny, yet under temperatures and breeze that are so moderate that you can run around in this place without risking death by heatstroke, golden-brown mountains, and dirt and stones that are mysteriously covered in perfectly formed checker patterns.

Green Hill's a pretty cliche choice, yeah, but you can't deny that it would be a cool vacation spot. Windy Hill would have the plus of being a series of playground-like planetoids with their own gravitational pole; Walking around the horizontal sides of a giant tube over and over again would never get old for me, at least not too quickly.

- If you could learn a special skill from the Sonic franchise, which would be it (such as Sonic Speed, warping etc.)

The two special abilities from the Sonic series I've always wanted to have since I've played Sonic were the homing attack and spin dash. The homing attack would be super fucking amazing to have, not just for self defense, but, like, it would be life saving!

Imagine tripping while walking down the stairs, about to painfully tumble over and break a bone or two, but all you gotta do is just look up at a lithonia lamp on the ceiling and you'll fling into it and land perfectly on your feet like nothing happened!

Borrowed cash from the wrong guys due to desperation and are about to be thrown off a three story building with your hands tied? Keep a calm facade, don't attempt to escape their grasp, and if they don't let you go due to being freaked out or intrigued by your ability to keep cool in such a situation, let them toss you to what you think is your death and as you're falling towards the pavement, just lock on to em and you'll go right back up to the roof with the bonus of having the loan shark knocked out cold!

The spin dash would of course be great for getting where you need to be quickly without the need for automobiles or a bus pass, and it would have the advantages of running real fast without the pain of losing energy, a tight throat or being drenched in sweat. Just aim to the direction of where you gotta go, crouch down, rev up and NYOOM! Only down side being the high risk of road burn, but I guess when Sonic characters do it, they're spinning so fast they form some kind of force field made of wind or something, so they're safe. And maybe the possibility of not being able to see where you're going... And causing accidents.... Damn.

- If you could be a Sonic character, who would be it?

IQ of 300.

Extraordinary knowledge in engineering and coding, to the point of knowing how to give machines free will.

Big. Damn. Mustache.

I absolutely agree with you. Nowadays, I read the Archie Sonic Universe comics, and I just realized that Sonic is MUCH more than I thought. There are tons of characters, places and stories, and I would be the happiest if they would make Sonic games which are based on the comics. That would surely bring back Sonic's old fame. I also don't understand than it seems like SEGA and Sonic Team doesn't have any story/game ideas (just look at Lost World for example), they are just making mediocre games now, and Sonic was never this lame ever. But there is a brutally huge world behind Sonic, and they haven't even used the half of it! Just for instance, I have a random game title idea: Sonic Reunion, which could be about reuniting the Freedom Fighters. They could use all the characters and places from the Archie comics, and the success would be 100% sure. I hope this will happen one day.

Honestly, this question is one of the reasons why I want to Lucid dream. Imagine being in the world of Sonic that feels like real life. Amazing.
