The events of Sonic '06 cracked the space-time continuum. The events of Sonic Generations shattered it completely, and resulted in the separation of Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic, and the separation of Sonic's World and the Human World. As a result, history and each characters' memories is a mess, hence why certain characters behave differently from how they should, like Shadow for instance.

I always used to think the genesis sonic games (1 through &k mainly) and the post adventure games were two different timelines. Robotnik/Eggman looks radically different all the main characters look different to varying degrees Angel island is now seemingly completely different. Sonic shares his world with humans other than Robotnik/Eggman (I always used to believe based off of the comics and cartoons the games were set on planet Mobius didn't discover til years later they were set on south island which in my mind could still technically be on another planet somewere) Many said it was wrong but to me the two halves never quite fit together right. One was based in this colourful fantasy world and the other was at least partially based in the "real" world. Though apparently the Mania Sonic hails from another dimension and if he's truly the sonic from the genesis games set after the events of sonic 3 and knuckles perhaps the idea does hold true after all.

Further; DoDonpa was attempting to repair the timeline, first using the debris from the Super Genesis Wave, before looking into the Phantom Ruby and the “power of friendship” to help with his Engine, able to fix time. He hasn’t succeeded.

If '06 happened how does that explain Blaze existing in the future of Sonic's dimension instead of the Sol Dimension?

Blaze was originally from the future of Sonic's World and the Sol Dimension as we know it did not exist until Sonic 06's ending. Blaze sealing herself in a different dimension, followed by the defeat of Solaris and the Flame of Hope being blown out leading to the rewrite of the timeline, is what created the Sol Dimension as all of the essence of Solaris that was purged from Sonic's World followed Blaze.

Hey Sparky.

Yeah, that is basic takeaway.

DoDonpa’s attempts to repair the timeline involved an experiment that ended up fracturing the timeline he was in even further, resulting in a series of Individual Bubbles, which was how Zavok came back to life and became more loyal to Eggman. DoDonpa is studying this incident to try and form a more concise timeline again. He has also been distracted by some other alternate universes entirely that have been coming and going.

Many of the crossover incidents happened as a result of the SGW, along with DoDonpa, inadvertently scattering displaced Sonics to other, unrelated universes, such as OK KO or Smash. These universes are not considered true zones; in fact DoDonpa has ended up creating a term called “The Pseudozone” as a catch-all for other universes outside the multiverse that have gained Sonics.

Nah those are just cameos and crossovers. All video game/cartoon characters are just actors but in the fictional realm.

From Team Sonic Racing. This ties into the above theory about him trying to repair the shattered timeline.

Oh, it's just theory...--

There are 2 Classic Sonics, one from the Past & one from an alternate dimension, The one in the Genesis games & Generations was the one from the Past, the one from Mania & Forces was the one from an alternate dimension, thus making Mania not canon (but Forces is still canon)

Guys, I've got it.

Non-Eggman humans stopped appearing in the series after Sonic Unleashed, and I know why.

The "human world and the animal world" being separate planets is because, after the events of Unleashed, the world wasn't properly put back together after Eggman blew it into pieces. A big chunk of it is still floating out in space, and that chunk just so happened to have South Island, Westside Island, Angel Island, and the other mostly animal-populated places from the classic games.

This gets around all the weird contradictions that would arise from the worlds always having been separate, which just wouldn't make any sense, while still conceding to Iizuka's horrible decree that there are two distinct worlds.

The earth is perfectly spherical though with no missing parts once the game is complete

Eh. Could be that we're only seeing the "good side," if I may borrow from Iizuka's explanation about the moon.

EDIT: Wait, the world map, augh, nevermind.

This would require that subsequent games have South Island in it, whereas it seems South Island is no longer acknowledged as existing and places from South Island like Green Hill Zone are depicted as land locked environments on a large continent.

Unless of course the reshaping caused South Island to be plopped down in the middle of a continent and Green Hill subsequently spread like a lichen over the face of the land in an incredibly narrow span of time.

West Side Island being animal populated is possible though uncertain.  The Sonic 2 manual states that West Side Island is the home of the ancient civilization that was destroyed by abusing the Chaos Emeralds (and the home of Tails when he met Sonic), which SA tells us was located in the Mystic Ruins (naturally, Tails also lives there).  The Mystic Ruins is connected by train to Station Square and it's satellite cities, a human dominated area.  This would imply both locations are on West Side Island.  However it is possible Station Square is on a separate land mass and the train crosses a bridge to reach West Side Island, which would be consistent with how the map in Sonic Chronicles depicts the two locations as well.

Green Hill Zone is now undergoing desertification that Sonic’s efforts ultimately couldn’t stop, only temporarily pause. This is also due to the increasing size of the Zone over recent years. Eventually, due to this, the zone will shrink back down or even disappear.

It’d be completely impossible for a floating chunk of land to sustain any kind of life. It would just float aimlessly across space with no gravity or a sun and moon.

It'd be completely impossible for a chunk of island to float.

A chunk of land that’s not spherical.

Eh, Mad Space had tiny planets right outside the ARK that were weird and very not spherical; The capsule planet and holy planet. They weren't floating off aimlessly and instead seemed to somehow remain in the ARK's vicinity at all times.

As silly as my idea is, there technically is precedent.
