They said that there would be an announcement/news for EU Sonic fans. 

That's it, they didn't constantly go on about it, at most there were two or three mentions of it, there was never any indication it would be anything utterly amazing, most people thought it would be Boom launch news for the EU, if anything they undersold it given the details of the prize. Paid for flight to the US, accommodation for 3 nights, meals included and return flight home.  

Depending on the airline, that's a prize worth over £1000 and that doesn't take into account accommodation costs.

Oh so this was the announcement eh? All things considered that comes along with this grand prize that's a pretty good deal.

And given how part of this fnabase tend to operate, it's not that surprising just making a tweet/post saying 'announcememt of EU fans' and nothing else thereafter would enough to get some people hyped up regardless. On the other hand, I certainly wasn't thinking that a trip to the U.S. 25th Anniversary Party was going to be it.

The thing is: they don't need to mention it more than two or three times. They could have just mentioned it once and the fanbase would have hyped it up. And you're talking about as if it's a big deal, and all of what you're saying sounds like it could be great... for a single fan. Like it's great for that one fan and the people who get to go to Summer of Sonic, but that's ten people out of hundreds of EU fans who were watching the stream.

I'm just saying: if they didn't want to hype it up, they shouldn't have announced that there'd be an announcement. They should have just announced it.

So you have to be 21 to enter, leaving quite a lot of people (some friends of mine included) out. That's a shame. Seems like they'd have it open for at least 18 and up, but I guess not.
