how long do warnings last?

We had an automated system back at the old SSMB before it crashed, where a member bot removed strikes after 30 days of “good behaviour”. Nowadays, we do not seem to focus so much on removing strikes as much. Just recently, we started acting and checking up striked members, removing strikes of who we see and feel have improved themselves, and that the members do effort to show this. I still think 30 days is a minimum, though.

ived had one since july still lol XP

Do try to improve your grammar and typing effort though, as that alone is somewhat violating to the rules, you see (like using captial letters at sentence starts, and using punctuations at the end of them).

Do that, along with improving what you originally were striked for, and I am sure one of us will remove your strike when we notice enough improvement, yush? =3 Do feel free to contact a moderator if you feel like talking more about this, or if you have a question or just left somewhat confused. (Further posts in here should preferrably be related to Frequently Asked Questions, the purpose of the topic.)

When explaining a code

When is is appropriate to use the code tags?

When you wish to explain to someone how a code works or otherwise to decompile a code that has a particular effect within posts. For instance, if you want to properly show a fellow member how to make your own words into a hyperlink, you may send them this:

Also, if a member is violating ot the signature rules, and if I am the one dealing with the violation, (unless it is something which never would be allowed on the SSMB, like porn pictures and yaddadadda), I personally like to decode their signature and send it back to them as a Private Message instead of just right out deleting something which could have taken the member in question some effort to build.

Perhaps there are even more reasons for the code tags than for demonstrative, but this is what I know and use it for anyhow~

Edit: Dangit, Remz beat me. XD

I moved the example to the very bottom because sometimes it screwed up. 50 % of the time me viewing the post, everything after the code tag is included within. Bugged.

This will also allow for a quick copy/paste, and not containing a code within code tags will make the forum treat it as a code and hide it.

It doesn't say what's wrong with it, only that it couldn't be uploaded. How can I tell if it's too big or too small?

"Avatars and signatures should also be below 400kb COMBINED,"

From the SSMB rules page. If your avatar is bigger than 400 KB, it's not going to load.

Mine is 191 KB.

The new IPB actually caps avatar size at 50kb, something I've been rather critical of myself in the past, as before the update it was 150kb. That's more to do with changes that IPB staff themsleves to the board, not entirely sure whether it's something admins can change.

At any rate it needs to be clearer. Changing avatars is an absolute nightmare, especially when the Gravatar ones don't work properly either.

What are Gravatars anyway?

Can you delete your own posts?

No. You can report it and request for it to be deleted.
