Sonic Mania (August 15th 2017, Christian Whitehead, PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch) - The New Classic

Considering the mini-boss from Green Hill took the same six hits as the mini-bosses from S3&K, I'd wager we'll see the traditional 8 hits for Eggman.

My roommate and I are currently replaying Sonic 1 - Sonic 06 in preparation for this game and *cough* Generations 2 *cough*. I can't wait for both games.

Looks like it's only available on Amazon.com

Yeah, I guess there's a good chance. It's pretty iconic :D

One could argue Studiopolis (with the pinball bumpers) and Mirage Saloon (with the pinball flippers) already covers-off the need for a pinball stage, so maybe Casino Night is less likely. However, Mania is a BIG game, so you never know, perhaps Casino Night will make an appearance. I'm a fan of Carnival Night. I think a Casino Night/Carnival Night hybrid could work well?

Speaking of Tee Lopes & Casino Night...

Pretty cool!

So here's a theory...

I've heard it speculated that the Sonic-head-shaped island in the title screen is actually a creation of Eggman and that all of the revisited zones have either been built there by Eggman or somehow "stolen" by him and placed there.

So if Sonic Island is really some sort of Eggman-created theme park, what if EggRobo isn't just back for Mirage Saloon as we have guessed based on his appearance in the posters for that stage. What if EggRobo is the boss we will fight at the end of every zone and we won't actually fight the real Doctor Eggman until the final boss—or perhaps not at all—with the whole thing actually revealed to be a scheme by Metal Sonic.

Nah, if Sonic Island was Eggman's doing it'd definitely be shaped like his head. Not Sonic's =P

Though for some reason I really like the idea of Eggman stealing the other zones for his theme park.

I just checked the Sonic Mania: Collector's Edition Amazon page and I just noticed the price went down from $69.99 to $59.49. If you haven't gotten it yet, now seems like a good time to purchase it.

https://www.amazon.com/Sonic-Mania-Collectors-PlayStation-4/dp/B01LVZ7YXP

https://www.amazon.com/Sonic-Mania-Collectors-Xbox-One/dp/B01LW93WIT

https://www.amazon.com/Sonic-Mania-Collectors-PC/dp/B01LVVBLPD

Seems like it might be a limited time deal, though. Might have something to do with Black Friday.

Let's hope for a similar deal on Amazon Europe :/. I really wonder why the price is so high over here, I don't think the collector's is worth that much (~100€)

Interesting thoughts, though I would hope they don't rehash the "twist" of Sonic Heroes for no reason. Personally, I've had enough "Eggman isn't the real villain!" stories in general to satisfy me for about twenty years.

It's unlikely but I'd love to see an official release party for this game. It's a pretty big deal so why not give it get the Pokemon treatment?

Seems like Japanese fans are going to be able to score a Sonic Mania blanket in that event in December.

As per usual, Japan gets the ritzy Sonic treatment, with SEGA being blissfully unaware that the vast majority of the active fanbase is actually based in the Western world.

Except we had a killer birthday party for Sonic in San Diego just this past july.

It may be a bit to early to speculate release dates, but we know its in spring. What month do you guys expect this game to come? Im thinking somewhere in Late April or may.

Since a lot of places are saying April, (Including Sega's own website) i say mid to late April at the most. (Especially since Sonic stuff tends to come around that time.)

I'll be at PSX tomorrow, Sonic Mania is playable there, not sure what build will be playable but, I'll do my best to post some impressions.

Clothing merchandise.

A Collector's Edition available for pre-order (which quickly sold out in most --if not all-- territories it was made available in).

And now in Japan, poster ads in malls (trains and cafes too, though those were Sonic-branded, so that's a given).

For a game that's only been confirmed for digital distribution so far, that's quite a lot of promotional support. Both Sonic 4 episodes didn't get this much of a push, and even Lost World's pre-orders was mostly DLC.

Surely Sega is giving some consideration towards giving Mania a retail release in some form? I hope so....

Oh, man. SEGA's advertising for Sonic 4 was virtually non-existent. I think seeing an ad for it in the Sonic Colors instruction manual was the extent of that games advertising.
