I'm sorry but...

What in the living HELL is up with that disgusting choice of voice for the trailer? That does NOT match the game whatsoever.

I've never been nit picky over who speaks during this kind of thing before but that was terrible. This isn't Harvest Moon or Animal Crossing, you should never screw up advertising like that.

If you want the game to be epic, you need an epic voice. Not some kid friendly hug-me-lots sounding...

Considering I don't dislike any of the post Unleashed Sonic games and like Colors a fair bit , this news means nothing to me honestly. I'm going to judge the game by what I see in the actual GAME

It wasn't a formal trailer, it was just a Nintendo employee talking over the top of assorted footage.  I can see the confusion since people will likely upload the isolated segment as a new "trailer" but it was just footage.

It's a problem to me when the advertising itself is softened up. Just no. What we see in the game is bad enough without terrible sounding trailers.

A picture to describe my current feelings given recent news

I have never felt more apathy for a Sonic game than I have with this one. It's like they're going out of their way to show things that I don't give a fuck about lol. 

So firstly, the director of Colors and Lost World is back, which means I can already tell that I'm likely not to going to give a fuck about the story or anything that happens in it. I know they're trying to push "Sonic's resistance vs. Eggman" angle, but I'm fully expecting for the Sonic's to do 90% of the work while everyone else just does nothing during cutscenes, and for interesting plot points to be dropped as quickly as they come up. All they need to do is announce Pontac and Graff are returning and the seal is complete. 

Secondly, that character silhouette isn't really doing anything for me; there's nothing definable that really catches my interest, and I feel like all of the hype they're building with them is just going to end up crashing and burning. But I don't know enough yet, so I'm "eh" about this character so far. It'd be nice if they'd focus on the ever so large current supporting cast, but that's far too much time and effort I guess.

And lastly, oh hey guys, we heard you liked Green Hill Zone so we decided to bring it back again, because it's a totally an original idea that's NEVER been done before. I'm really hoping it's just the first stage because that's the opposite on how you get me excited for something.

 

I'm sorry if I sound overly negative about this game, but there's honestly nothing that really excites me about it so far. It's directed by the same guy who's games have had no lasting impact beyond a few months before you forget about them entirely with plots that are entirely forgettable and juvenile in nature. All of this with hype surrounding a new character that we know next to nothing about, and the opening stages being Green Hill Zone again. I've always felt that I wasn't really feeling the direction of the series since 2010 and this game just solidifies that feeling even more.  If this is what people and fans want out of the series, power to them and to each their own, but I don't want anything to do with this current direction. The last Sonic game I was truly excited for was Unleashed and the director for that game jumped ship. Maybe this game will prove me wrong and probably be much better than my current expectations, but I'm not holding out and I doubt the showings at E3 are going to change those feelings. I'll probably still pick this up, but I sure won't be getting it at launch. 

 

And yea, it does kind of make me sad that a series I once loved religiously has gone down a path that I couldn't care less but that's life I guess. There are better gamest that are currently out and are coming out later that I'd rather devote my time to. But hey, at the very least I still have Mania and I can at least be assured that will at least meet the minimum of my expectations in a Sonic game, so I'm not completely disappointed lol.

I know they said the actual reveal would be "unexpected" but the instant I read that I said to myself the only way for that to be true is if it was something no one saw coming. And people already suggested a new character or another Sonic. What I didn't hear suggested that often was it being one of the existing Sonic cast. And why? Because we expected them not to get used. And we were correct it looks like.

I don't feel like I'm asking for much. In fact, what I desire requires a lot less work. Just use the characters you already have (that people already like) and make a game where Sonic runs through stages and tries to take back the world from Eggman with his resistance. Send the Wisps home. Keep Classic Sonic in his own time. Just focus on one gameplay element and maybe give the others their own minor quirks... 

I really feel like you'd not only have a much easier time developing this game but it'd please a greater number of people in the end. 

I dunno. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe that's somehow harder. I can't see how but I'm not a game developer so...

New trailer looked...Well it didn't look outright bad. But it was very ungood. Glad Bubsy gets to make his return though, even if it means helping to tank the review scores with some more knocks on Sonic's shitty friends.

Some probably have seen the trailer separated from the Nintendo Direct event and thought it was it's own SEGA-sanctioned thing.
