Well.. time for first impressions on that guy. 

Now keep in mind that it IS a first impression.

For now I'll call this stage Derp Hill Zone. That's the impression it gives to me. The bridge collapsing was pretty nice. This feels like a prologue segment for the little fellow, going through a (mediocrely-rendered) familiar environment, or maybe the return of the Lost Hex (hopefully better written than in it's debut) into the game.

No one has noted how this new footage was shown for Switch. If this is indeed running on the handheld I'll have literally no reason to get it on PS4 if it looks that gorgeous on the Switch.

I'm not feeling optimistic about the new character. I'm already bored by the silhouette. It just has a very generic look shared by countless Western cartoon characters, as others have mentioned, and low-effort fan characters alike.

Also, it would be nice if Sega bothered using the anthropomorphic characters they already have, who (IMO) have lots of potential but are rarely well-utilized (even when they actually appeared, too often it felt like they were there just for the sake of it), rather than creating a new one. I mean, I feel like in an alternate universe, I could actually be really enthusiastic about the idea of a new animal Sonic character, but for now it gives me a sinking feeling if anything. I really hope it turns out to have a unique and interesting role.

I like how they showed Mania right after the Forces classic Sonic footage, thereby making the latter look much worse by comparison...as if it really needed the help.
