Welp, with that overreaction out of the way... I dunno what to think about this. Some of their gameplay seems to imply that they use Wisp energy for weapons rather than the usual transformations that Sonic goes through. (Also, hi Burst Wisp!)

I... I'm lost for words.

Looks neat! I don't really care much for custom characters, but I'm sure we'll see some pretty neat designs.

I'm ready to see some new levels or more modern Sonic gameplay, though.

You know what? Count me as interested in this game now!

I must admit, I'd been fairly indifferent to Forces since its announcement. For months, all we had was a CGI trailer that didn't say much beyond what the tone of the game could be. When we got something, it was either pretty cool (Modern Sonic's back) or there was going to be a better alternative available in Sonic Mania (Classic stuff). But now?

You've got a character creator, along with gadgets that allow any rando civilian to become as badass the main characters (a personal favourite trope of mine)? Now you've got my attention. I don't know if I'll buy the game full price, but I'm definitely buying it at some point thanks to thanks to this news! Hope to see where this goes from here!

They only showed off Burst, and that was one of the few good wisps to begin with. There's still the chance for negative wisps.

At least we now know they've spent the last 4 years designing accessories and customization for the OC. It's not like they needed to polish their core game or something.

This will either end very good, or very bad. We shall have to see.

It's an interesting concept.

The return of vocal themes full force is giving me all sorts of good vibes, though. I missed them.

Wolf -- Automatically draws in rings when near them.....So the thunder shield.

Rabbit -- Has longer invincible time after receiving damage........Seriously? That's it?

Cat -- Keeps one ring after being hit........Hum....ok....

Dog -- Restarts with five rings after the player dies........Easy mode.

Bear -- Blows away enemies with a homing attack.........Doesn't the homing attack kinda already do that?

Bird -- Flies high with double jump abilities...........A bird that can't fly...brilliant

Hedgehog -- Collects rings when getting damaged.......Wait, what does that mean exactly? Is Hedgehog the only one that can recover rings?

 

So underwhelming differences aside, why couldn't each of these classes be an actual character from the already existing cast? Also gadgets.....Because as we all know there is not anyone in the cast that specialises in gadgets right?

Because that requires more effort.

They just need to remove the delay/stop in midair thing with the grappling hook, honestly. That's my only major complaint based on the small amount of footage I've seen.

Vocal stage music is back too which is great.

I'm not completely blown away or anything, but this looks good.

This. Besides I personally think that those OC didn't even look that good to begin with. But that's subjective, so...

Also why can't Tails just use gadgets and have that double jump? Really?

At least the music was cool, even if out of place in a destroyed city.

The only reaction I get from this game is always: "Really?!"

That's what happens when consumers push developers to the point of paranoia over being too dark and/or serious.

Gotta do something to avoid being too Sonic nowadays.

The art team and the game design team are entirely seperate things.

No?  I wouldn't be surprised if they do it Werehog style and give Hero the honour of penultimate boss duties, or possibly serving a mid-battle assistance role to the Supers.  Or they might have no Super battle anyway, we'll see.
