This idea came to mind after this week's Mash-Up Monday (SilvaGunner you madman) and from seeing sites like Zelda Informer doing this very same thing, and I thought it'd be a fun participation event readers of the main site can take part in. I've been asked about making a topic out of it as well for easier submissions (been meaning to get around to it, but I've been busy with trying to sell most of my junk for the big move out west so I apologize for taking this long), and I think putting it under the Showcase subforum would be the right idea. So without further ado, and if I'm not overstepping my bounds, I'd like to kick off: 

THE SONIC STADIUM PHOTOSHOP CONTEST

[Pilot] Theme – Sonic Storybook

The rules are as follows!

• Photoshop is not required – any kind of image manipulation software will do!
• Submit your entries in the thread here!
• Anything and everything within the Sonic canon and its various spinoffs is free game, so long as it ties in with a specific piece of ancient folklore or literature! Use the template above to guide you!
• No more than two entry per person!
• Most importantly, keep it tasteful with no offensive material of any kind!

The deadline is Thursday, September 22nd at 11:59pm BST (7pm EST, 4pm PST). That should give you all ample time to come up with something truly unique or downright bonkers for a Sonic Storybook box art. I'll be featuring the best ones on Freak-Out Friday the next day (with all of your submissions in an accompanying gallery in the post), and if successful, who knows? We could make photoshop contests a fun recurring thing on The Sonic Stadium!

I wanted to do something based off Momotarō, but I couldn't really come up with a good name.

Momotarō is about a boy who makes animal friends and fights a band of demons on an island.  I thought injecting Sonic into that kind of story would be simple enough.

Here is my entry!

 

 

  Story: 

   Sonic falls asleep and wakes up in a strange world. His house seems to have fallen on a Witch.... Nice landing , house! ( Tails must have forgotten the landing gear!) 

     As Sonic leaves his house he meets some strange little creatures that tell him how to get home. Glinda the good witch comes,  and, unsure what to do,  tells him to follow a yellow brick road...."The wizard is powerful, maybe he can help you!"  Half tempted to go down the red path just for kicks, Sonic follows her directions. He gets confronted by The wicked witch of the west. She tries full effort to stop him in his paths but she fails. Along the way Sonic meets 3 friends: A Cowardly Lion (Tails... ), a Scarecrow (Knuckles), and tin man ( Silver) . each time he met one of them they started singing some copyright infringed parody song and Sonic was getting sick of it!.

      Seeing her efforts to stop Sonic have failed,  the Witch sent her trusted ally, and he can FLY! (shadow) . after a tough battle, Sonic and the three friends escape and travel into the poppy fields . They start falling asleep . "This is my chance!" the witch tried to jump on it, but suddenly it began to rain! and the poppy sleep powder wore off and Sonic and friends escaped! 

     It is too late!  Sonic made it to the Emerald city . the witches evil intentions failed! or perhaps.... 

      Sonic meets with the foretold wizard (eggman) and wishes to go home. But Sonic is not sent home.  He is trapped!  he and his friends were thrown into a land of dreams. in this land all their deepest desires can be realized. it was an imaginary land where they thought they were happy. but in real life their life energy was being drained to power the Emerald bot. this bot was designed by the Wizard to destroy the wonderful land . 

     The Witch of the West, knowing quite well that she needed to stop this evil from taking over the world, sneaks into the Emerald city, with her partners ( Played by shadow and Omega) .  She is able to use her magic to infiltrate the dreams of Sonic and friends. "You have to fight this. it is not real! the world is going to be destroyed using your own life!"  She helps Sonic and friends travel through their dreams. they fight a few battles and complete a few obstacles and finally awake. 

     The scarecrow suggests teaming up and using the energy of the emeralds hung around the room to re energize themselves. they do it and fight off the wizard and his powerful robot. The wizard is destroyed and the land returns to peace.  The Lion (er... fox that has a mane like a lion?? ) learns that he can have courage. He had it all along, he just needed to believe in himself. The Tin man realized he cared about everyone all along, and though people thought otherwise, he always had a heart. and the scarecrow learned he had a brain. He just needed to learn to use it... and Sonic was sent home by Glinda. She realized her mistake and apologized to him. and sent im off with an unwanted kiss. 

   Sonic woke up ...getting kissed on the cheek by Amy in real life.  

 

   The End..

Finally an excuse to revisit my old hobby of Photoshopping random shit.

Anyway, seeing as how I'm something of a Greek Mythology buff, I decided to do something based off of Iliad.

When Sonic opens an ancient scroll containing ancient words of the "Watchers" who once ruled the planet, he gets sucked into the era of the antediluvian ancients and discovers that it was really just a bunch of aliens taking over the Mesopotamian region specifically by breeding animals and splicing genes because eh why not. Accompanied by his anime pink-haired angel girlfriend "Micha" the Angel, Sonic beats up a bunch of aaaaayyyyyyyyliens to save the world, and then Sonic finds out that the aliens are actually fallen angels or something. Or genies. Robots.

Watch as Sonic pisses of nominally religious American soccer moms everywhere as he enters into Bible Times to ride the flood of Noah (played by Shadow the Hedgehog), climb the Tower of Babel and shake hands with Father Abraham (played by Knuckles the Echidna).

The game sucked and received poor review scores across the board, but a small pocket of fans praise its storytelling as it featured Sonic saying something motivational for 5 year olds about how everything has to be flooded sometimes to cleanse the Earth of its sins and chimeras.
