New, post-convention polling numbers in three key swing states, fresh from NBC Nightly News:

FLORIDA

Obama: 49%

Romney: 44%

OHIO

Obama: 50%

Romney: 43%

VIRGINIA

Obama: 49%

Romney: 44%

Now, obviously, pre-election polls don't mean a great deal, but they do show a considerable bounce for the president (which we did expect), and while Romney could still overcome those numbers (and I'm sure polls closer to election day will see the percentages get a bit closer together), the Democratic campaign is probably breathing a sigh of relief tonight. I know that I am!

I just hope that the election itself sees these states go blue.

I'm somewhat surprised about Florida's numbers. That tells me that the "OBAMACARE IS TEH EVULZ" and "Think about how much less America sucked before Obama was president" strategies aren't working as well as the GOP thought it would, because I would think that would be one of the big places for those to take hold.

For now, Florida's holding out surprisingly well, but there's still just under two months to go, over 300 million dollars' worth of anti-Obama advertising specifically targeting swing states has yet to be made or aired, the post-convention bounces for both parties have yet to recede into the past, and no doubt many gaffes have yet to be made on all sides. Plenty of mud that could really stick bad to any of the contenders is yet unslung.

If Florida and the other two are still polling like they are now in a month and a half's time (and NBC is doing weekly polls from that trio of states so we'll know), I think it's pretty much assured that Obama will be re-elected.

I just watched an interesting piece on NBC's Rock Center (sort of an American Newsnight equivalent, at a not-thought-out guess) about the Gaffe Hunters; companies affiliated with one or the other sides of the aisle, which hire dozens of people to monitor all day every day everything the other side is doing or saying, be it the left/right media outlets, radio personalities etc. It's constant. And they have so many accumulated recordings from every conceivable speaker on the other side and their own that they effectively become the research arm of the party they're closer to.

For example, were it not for one of the Democrats' gaffe hunting operations, the whole "Todd Akin legitimate rape" thing would never have found its way into the spotlight like it did, but because somebody in their employ was watching that one local station for hours on end, it spread like political wildfire.

My Dad said he votes based on what God tells him.

Yes, he voted Bush.

Well then God's taste was terrible, or he was drunk as hell.

Now awaiting to be smited for insulting God, or sent down to Purgatory when I die.

Well lets hope God is a fan of Black Presidents.

What in the flying fuck is up with this bullshit?! Are they trying to set a record after outing an ST6 operative a month ago?

That reminds me of the time Fox News made an objectively false news report that might be construed as an attempt to reinforce a political agenda.

Let's face it. I am not being funny. I mean no disrespect, but they're cunts. They're cunts now, and they've always been cunts. The only thing that's going to change is that they're going to be even bigger cunts. Maybe hire some more cunt presenters.wink.png

Suddenly, in the blink of an eye, Romney lost 20% of his supporters.

20% of his supporters have porn? What's the other 80%?
