11: What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

There are a lot of good cutscenes, but for me I have to say the Sonic Unleashed intro is one of my favorites, because of how good the animation quality is and how good it is in general. Sonic CD is a second as well.

12: What is your favorite Sonic game?

Hmm. Not sure. I like most of them to some degree. Don't know here, honestly.

13: What is your favorite Sonic track non-vocal and vocal?

For vocal tracks, Open your Heart, Live and Learn and possibly Endless Possibilities because I honestly how it sounds. As for non-vocal, not sure, since there's a lot.

14: What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

Honestly, just the Spin Dash. Although, this might be because it's iconic.

15: What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

For me, Generations because of the quality of the remixes, Mania will probably be one of my favorites when it's released. I also like some from the Sonic Adventure soundtrack.

16: What is your favorite image from the series?

Been stuck on this one for a while, but I think I am going to use this as my answer to this one:

cb5.png

Honestly, I just like the art in general. I like how clean and simple it is. Don't have too much else to say.

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

I have been a fan since 2002 but have enjoyed Sonic since his debut in 1991.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

My first Sonic game that I owned was Sonic Adventure 2: Battle on the GameCube.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

The gameplay. It was fun, fast paced and challenging. It offered a different style of gameplay to others at the time.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, Sonic Advance 1-3, Sonic Adventure DX, Sonic Lost World, Sonic Rush, Sonic Rush Adventure, Sonic Battle, Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, Sonic Mega Collection, Sonic Generations, Sonic Colours, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic CD, Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

I like both as I have grown up with both. If push comes to shove, I prefer Modern.

6. Who is your favourite Sonic character and why?

8e0dca58ff82c64e61b94c0aef98e9ed.jpg.thumb.png.1f9391dd3f1e1571cbeb6354b09fb23e.png

Tails. I always loved his ability to fly, the amazing tech he can make, and how he has grown as a character through out the years. I love how his relationship with Sonic has evolved from loyal sidekick and best friend to being able to fight Eggman on his own and show us all what he can do.

7. What is your favourite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

I have only recently got back into the Archie comics so it’s mainly SEGA and the cartoons that are my favourite continuity.

 8. What is your favourite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

I’MMMM WAIITTTTTINNNNINNNGGGGGG

9. What is your favourite story in the Sonic franchise?

Sonic Adventure 2. I loved it, being able to see two different sides of the story and the final story was just immense.

10. What is your favourite Sonic cartoon?

Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.

11. What is your favourite cutscene from a Sonic game?

I loved this game growing up. It was awesome to see Sonic, Tails and Knuckles back working together.

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It took the elements of the first game and turned them up to 10 and introduced Tails as well so will always have a special place in my heart.

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

My favourite vocal track is Escape from the City from Sonic Adventure 2. Honourable mentions go to Live and Learn and It Doesn’t Matter from Sonic Adventure 2 and Open Your Heart and Believe in Myself from Sonic Adventure. My favourite non-vocal track is Emerald Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Honourable mentions go to Green Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog, Casino Night Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Flying Battery Zone from Sonic and Knuckles.

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

Tails ability to fly.

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

Without a doubt, Sonic Adventure 2. It had so many memorable tunes, both vocally and for stage music.

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

normal_NewHome_225.jpg.d80aee39149d0204569f7464e7f97270.jpg

This one from the end of Tails’ New Home from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. I loved this episode, it showed how much Tails means to Sonic, not only as a best friend and sidekick, but how he is like a brother to him. I love their relationship, how it has grown through good and bad times and in the many different guises over the past few years. But one thing remains the same; Sonic will always be there for Tails and vice versa. (Source).

17. Which is your favorite voice-acting cast?

The current voice cast

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

I don’t have any unfortunately.

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

I am a sucker for the grass levels such as Green Hill, Emerald Hill, Windy Hill etc. The opening level has to be memorable in my opinion and usually it’s the Grass ones that start the game off.

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

2016 – 25th Anniversary Year. It was where I really got more involved in Sonic. I attended Summer of Sonic that year, listened to a number of Sonic podcasts, kept update with news and bought a lot of merchandise. It was a good year and with 2 games coming out in 2017 will cap off that anniversary in spectacular style.

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Simply put, it is Sonic. He has stood the test of time, through the good times and bad but is still loved by so many people in his various guises. I love the character – blue, cool and fast. He has been showcased kicking butt over and over again and we love him for that and of course doing that with that cheeky grin on his face.

Sonic-the-Hedgehog-character-001.thumb.jpg.1375931220fc0df4047e4e4ca70fc9ab.jpg

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

Sonic Mania at the 25th Anniversary Party

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

I really love the current Modern Sonic design. It really brings out his attitude and his overall love of Adventure. It reminds me of the cool guy in school that everyone liked, was able to get away with blue murder, was caring, fun loving and was just an all round nice guy.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

Overall, I like the games and the gameplay (even though some haven’t been the best), how all the different characters interact with each other, especially in the Modern games and the cartoons. I like the worlds that Sonic has explored over the years from the humble surroundings of Green Hill to Sky Sanctuary to Emerald Coast to City Escape to Windy Hill; it just is a joy to explore. I like the music, both vocal and non-vocal as there are so many memorable tunes, and I love the stories that have been created. I still love this franchise because it is a part of my life and am always curious to see what is coming over the horizon in the future.

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

I guess I don't really have one. I don't remember much of anything interesting throughout the years for this series.

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Sonic Fanart. It's really nice to see a bunch of great art from fans of this series, especially for the comics. They're really great.

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

I really have some positive feelings toward this Sonic Mania trailer. It's lookin' goooood.

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

Modern Sonic, Sonic Channel style. That artwork to showoff the characters in their off-time is just nice, I looked forward to it.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

Obligation. I never really lost interest in Sonic the Hedgehog, but even if I know it's been pretty static in mediocre quality...there's no reason to leave. I know which games I will and will not buy. No reason being disappointed long term by the other stuff.

I'm answering five more questions, since I'm halfway there to the final stretch.

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

sonic_014_cs1w1_1280x720.jpg

There's some interesting concept art shots and really neat Archie Sonic Comic covers, and then there's the Sonic Channel artwork...

But this screenshot from Sonic Forces is so good. For one thing, the lighting from the Hedgehog Engine 2 looks glorious, it looks like a sunset scene, and the oranges and blues here mix really well.

17. Which is your favorite voice-acting cast?

I'm familiar with the 4KIDS cast. Jason did a really good job on Shadow and Sonic, Dan Green was fine as Knuckles. The current voice cast isn't so bad though... Cindy's voice as Amy has greatly improved during the Boom era and I hope they use that kind of voice in future games. Roger also does a nice job as Sonic too! I guess you could say some parts of the 4Kids cast and the Studiopolis cast.

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

...I got nothing.

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

Water levels. I think the original Water Palace in Rush looked pretty, even though that was one of the hardest stages to do lol.

20. What is your favourite level from the Sonic games?

The Studiopolis level from Sonic Mania. I really like the insane attension to detail to a funky city level. With references left right and center, and that music definately fits for a funky city like level.

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

Almost 15 years.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

Sonic R on PC.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

The character designs. Even though Sonic R looks like crap by today's standards, I liked Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles'  designs and how they represented the main 3 colors.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

Oh wow, that's a hard one. Let's see...about 40 games?

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

Modern, I think his design and attitude is cooler than Classic.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

Knuckles the Echidna. My favorite color is red, I like his personality (before they ruined it), his amazing design, and how strong he is despite his small size.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

Archie, after the reboot with Mega Man. It's where I started reading the Archie comics for the first time (excluding the few issues that were in Mega Collection+ on PS2), and I fucking loved it. Every character acts exactly how they should be acting, and the game references and the adaptation of the Sonic Unleashed story was phenomenal.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

"Where's that DAMN fourth Chaos Emerald?" always makes me laugh by how ridiculous it is.

"You might know everything I'm going to do, but that's not going to help you since I know everything you're going to do! Strange, isn't it?" is a close second.

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

If we're going by the games only, then I'll have to say Sonic Unleashed. Great cutscenes, dialogue, climax, and the ending is just beautiful.

If we're going by the whole franchise, then I'll have to go with the Total Eclipse Arc in the Archie comics. Perfect combination and interaction between Knuckles and Shadow's respective teams.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

I'll have to go with Sonic X. It closely follows the story of the games, doesn't change any of the main characters' designs, and sticks to the personalities of each character pretty well. However, I still think that Sonic X is a mediocre anime.

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

Probably Sonic Unleashed's opening cutscene, I don't think this needs an explanation.

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Easily Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Perfecting mix of speed, platforming, and exploration for a Sonic game.

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

The best vocal track would have to be Escape From the City, and Non-Vocal is Rooftop Run from Sonic Unleashed.

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

Knuckles' glide. It helped me a lot when I was playing as him in the 2D games. lol

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

Sonic Unleashed, it's just too amazing.

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

sonic-mania-art-1.jpg

17. Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

The ones that started in Sonic X, they fit the characters more than any other tbh.

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

I like to believe that Sonic and Knuckles can use Chaos Energy Attacks like Shadow but they just choose not to. lol

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

City theme is my favorite.

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

Rooftop Run.

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

Probably 2011, I still remember the hype for Generations very well.

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

The character designs.

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

Archie Sonic Post-Genesis Wave. He's the most consistent in terms of character, unlike the games where his personality changes depending on the game.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

Mostly because this series is a part of my life that I can't let go at all. The characters in the series and its fanbase are also what keeps bringing me back here.

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

Since 1992.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

Sonic 1 (Mega Drive).

Image result for sonic 1 uk box art

My parents bought a mega-drive for my sister’s birthday which was bundled with Sonic 1. Was so much fun to play. I remember trying to make it across the bottom-less pit at the end of Spring Yard act3, battling through Labyrinth zone and the torturous long route in Scrap Brain act3. Sonic 1 was hard for me back then :D

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Well my first experience was Sonic 1, 2 , AOSTH & SatAM. This really cool speedy blue hedgehog who would stop at nothing to prevent the evil Dr Robotnik (I didn’t know he was also called Eggman back then) from conquering the planet.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

Too many XP

Mega-Drive: Sonic 1 (x2), Sonic 2, Spinball, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, 3D Blast, Dr Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine (if his counts).

PS2: Sonic Mega Collection Plus, Sonic Gems Collection, Sonic Heroes, ShTH.

PS3: Sonic Ultimate Mega Drive Collection. Sonic 06, Unleashed, Gens.

PSN (PS3): Sonic 1, 2, Sonic CD Remastered. Sonic 4 Ep1 & 2 (includes Episode Metal).

PC: SLW, Gens, Sonic 1, 2, 3&K, Spinball, 3D Blast, Dr Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine. Sonic CD Remastered. Sonic 4 Ep1 & 2 (includes Episode Metal).

Also tons of hacks. Most relevant being Sonic 3 Complete. Also ,emulation of original version of Sonic CD & Knuckles Chaotix.

Mobile: Sonic 1, CD & 2 Remastered. Sonic 4 Ep1 & 2 (includes Episode Metal). Sonic Dash, Jump, Jump Fever & Runners.

When I used to own a Wii U I had Colors, SLW & Rise of Lyric.

PS4: I will of course be purchasing Forces & Mania and hopefully many more Sonic games.

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

Both, but more of a Classic fan.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

Miles "Tails" Prower.

I loved watching him follow Sonic in Sonic 2 and even more playing (& flying) as Tails in Sonic 3. I used to think he was a girl, lmao! He’s Sonic’s best pal and he’s always there for him, always has his back no matter how bad the situation is. Tails makes Sonic a better person.

Knuckles is a close second.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

SatAM. Dark, dramatic & exciting.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

SA2: “Let's go home! To the planet as cool and blue as me!”

A wonderfully cheesy line. I love it.

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

3&K; Told through short and exciting cutscenes & level progression. An epic finale in space.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

SaTAM. The idea Robotnik was so close to taking over everything and that Sonic didn't always win. Robtonik was evil and good at it. The robotizing device was creepy! Sonic and the freedom fighters were in a constant struggle for survival. Such a shame we never got to see a third season.

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

The very touching scene in the space colony ark after Shadow’s death in Sonic Adventure 2 “he was what he was. A brave and heroic hedgehog” is a close second, but Knuckles first appearance on Sonic 3 wins it.

Bursting from the ground, knocking Super Sonic flying and stealing the chaos emeralds. This cutscene (made by Iizuka) earned Knuckles a massive following. The extra cheer he got when he was revealed in Sonic Mania’s announcement trailer is proof of how much affection fans have for him.

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Image result for sonic 3 & knuckles

Whilst Sonic CD (especially the StealthTax remaster) runs a very close second. For me it’s gotta be Sonic 3 (& Knuckles). The story, level design, replay value & physics are outstanding. They took everything they did right with Sonic 1, 2 & CD and perfected the formula.

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

Vocal; Endless Possibilities. A beautiful track for a beautiful looking game.

Non-vocal; That's The Way I Like It...for Metal Harbour. For me it represents everything Sonic is about; fast and exciting.

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

Super Peel-Out. Sonic looks so badass when running with his arms behind his back and "figure of 8" shoes animation.

Image result for sonic cd super peel out

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

Tough question, so many excellent to choose from.

Gonna go for Sonic CD jp just ahead of the Adventure soundtracks. The music is so upbeat. So Sonicy. I love listening to the music in my car when driving at 88mph XD

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

Sonic & Metal

Image result for sonic cd uk box art

I love the tension this image brings. Sonic looks pissed-off, as does Metal. This represented the start of a pretty cool rivalry.

Also, the SCD logo looks rad.

17. Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

Erm, I guess Adventure 1 & 2. Ryan Drummond is still best Sonic.

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

Don’t really have one.

I guess that Sonic CD takes places between Sonic 1 & Sonic 2. *shrugs*

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

Casino/Carnival because they usually have interesting gimmcks which change up the the normal gameplay a bit, making them memorable and mostly fun stages.

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

This is a hard question! I'll choose Carnival Night. Brilliant level design. Several encounters with Knuckles, under water section, lights being turned on and off, THE DREADED BARREL and one of the hardest Eggman bosses in the classic series to beat without getting hit.

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

2011. The hype for Gens was such a good time as was playing the demo’s of Green Hill classic & modern.

..,and playing the brilliant remastered version of Sonic CD in glorious 16:9. Fixed a lot of issues from the original version and you could play as Tails & optional Sonic 3 physics/spindash!

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Big-Arm boss:

Image result for sonic 3 big arm boss

So tense with dramatic music. This boss still makes me nervous, even today!

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

The live reaction to Mania. Couldn’t stop smiling when I saw this.

Also, this one was a pleasant surprise:

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

Annoyed/miserable/angry (Sonic CD jp art). Sonic with attitude <3

Spoiler

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

Simple really; I love Sonic. I’m not just a fan of Sonic & Sonic Team. I’m also a fan of SEGA. Even as life takes over and I eventually spend less time on Sonic, I will always enjoy playing the games, watching the cartoons and being part of the community. SERIOUSLY, YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!

I’ll be routing for Sonic to stay strong, get stronger and to hopefully be around for another 25 years.

Part 2:

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

Antoine D'Coolette, this guy grew so much on me, as for why, i really love his design, his personality, his story arc, everything. Antoine, like Tails, grew up and changed a lot to become his self that we know today (from a coward to the freaking spin blade ball attack, that's something) and i can't get enough of him.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

Post-SGW archie, i really loved how they crafted the universe (and the characters that inhabit it).

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

"Bein' brave ain't about not bein' scared. It's about doing what you need to do even when you are scared."
— D'Coolette. Bunnie Rabbot.

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

Can i consider the Shattered World Crisis as one story?, because i'm definetely pointing to it, i already loved unleashed's story, and the comic's adaptation, despite having some pacing problems near the end, was amazing, and it's finale was a blast. Yeah, thinking better i couldn't not say this is my favorite.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

If someone asked me this question some years ago i would say in the same moment "Sonic SatAM", but now i have to be honest and say Sonic Boom, i like comedy a lot, and this show delivers it, in awesome ways, and i can't thank the writers enough.

Alrighty I got time to finally get into this...I'll be doing it in chunks of five.

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

Since...I believe 2002. So fifteen (15) years now.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

It was technically Sonic Advance; somewhere between late 2002/early 2003. Can't remember for sure. It was definitely around then though. Main series was Sonic Heroes; got that as a birthday gift.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

The world that Sonic and friends live in. It's a kind of surreal and vibrant, yet exotic environment that just attracted me when I was younger. Heroes accentuated that.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

Not many hahaha. Let's see...Sonic Generations (PS3), Sonic CD (PS3, Android), Sonic 2 (Android), Sonic Heroes (PC), Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed (PS3, PC), Sonic Adventure (Dreamcast, PS3, PC), Sonic Adventure 2 (PS3), Sonic Dash, Sonic Dash 2, Sonic Battle...I think that's it for now.

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

Definitely Modern. Although at the time I didn't make that distinction until SEGA deemed it so.

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

Around 15 years or so now, I reckon.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

Sonic Adventure 2: Battle.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Before SA2B, all I'd played were Disney tie-ins on the PS1 and Luigi's Mansion. The Disney games were passable but my young mind found them confusing, and the same goes for Luigi's Mansion. So when I started SA2B, the demo kicked in, and I saw

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

I'll be damned if I'm going counting all of those. Counting duplicates, probably far too many, I've well in excess of 10 copies of Sonic 1 alone (and 4 of those are on Mega Drive!)

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

I used to much prefer Modern Sonic... but nowadays, I much prefer Classic Sonic. I find him far more fun to draw, and his games are also better to boot.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

I won't count Sonic, because that's cheap; so I'll say Metal Sonic. He looks cool, wrecks shit up, and he's fun to play as in SA2B. That's all I need.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

The SEGA continuity, because I find it's the easiest to keep track of due to there being such little continuity. Every Sonic game's basically its own self-contained thing, and that's what I like best.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

C65715aWoAI1uen.jpg

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

Prooooooooobably the Death Egg Saga in the Classic games. It's got continuity between games, but it's relatively easy to understand doesn't lean into shit like government conspiracies a la SA2. I thought the Emerl saga in Battle and Advance 3 was neat too, though making you play a spin-off for the bulk of the context around Gemerl was... odd.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

The Sonic OVA counts, right? Failing that, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Second to Sonic Adventure.

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

Non-vocal (I mean, technically):

Vocal:

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

The spindash in the Adventure games. Spindash jumping is basically my favourite thing to do ever.

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

Sonic CD's JP soundtrack.

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

C8xhppbV0AEJIgw.jpg

From the Sonic Jam Strategy Guide as well as an old Saturn mag.

17. Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

The current Modern cast. Or the English OVA cast, who I love despite everything.

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

Not reeeeeeeally got any. I gueeeeeeeeeeeeess I draw Sonic in scarves a bit, even though Boom aside he's only ever worn one in the Sonic 2 JP Guide.

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

I love theme park levels such as Stardust Speedway, Carnival Night Zone, and the like. Any level with a beautiful cityscape background, I'm an absolute sucker for.

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

Stardust Speedway! Man, this stage is getting all the love.

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

I want to say last year; Summer of Sonic was fantastic, Mania being announced blew my mind, it was pretty great. That aside, 2011 was great too; being able to cross meeting Yuji Naka off my list of things to do before I die sure was something.

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Sonic! He's cool, fun to draw, and satisfying to control... most of the time.

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

It might actually be Sonic Mania's at this point. Reliving the night it was announced (esp with the crowd reaction videos) never gets old.

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

SEGASonic, to be honest. Understanding SEGASonic is simple; he loves justice, loves running, and stops Eggman. Not that Archie's more detailed take is bad, or Boom's more comedic take isn't to my fancy, but SEGASonic's the best for me.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

Alright, let's finish this:

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

Probably 2011, when the Generations hype was in swing. I wasn't super excited for it (since I had no way of playing it at the time), but I thought it looked cool and everyone seemed to get along well back then. At least, from what I remember.

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Hrm, I'd have to say the aesthetic of the classic games. The artstyle and music help to create these unique worlds that feels very much like they could only exist alongside Sonic and friends.

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

Without question, Sonic Mania's. The initial viewing may have been hampered by the shitshow of the livestream, but damn if it didn't get me hyped:

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

This is a tough one. Probably Lego Dimensions Sonic, largely because of his interactions with other characters. Ever since Colours, Sega Sonic doesn't really have many interactions with anyone besides Tails and Eggman, so hearing his remarks about other characters and his less-desired memories (i.e. his fear of Labyrinth Zone and his little encounter with a princess) makes him feel more developed, strange as that may be.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

Honestly? It's the classic games. They're still genuinely good games even when the modern ones stumble or fall flat, and to me they're what Sonic should be about, whether in 3D or 2D. Plus, Sonic Channel makes great art.

Aaaand the finishing touch-

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

...2016, was probably a suspenseful year, albeit memorable, mainly because of the 25th Anniversary Party. And when Mania and Forces was revealed... well, there was hype everywhere!

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

The music of this series. There's some from older games that I liked and give a listen to sometimes. The pacing is fast, there's some good beats, and some masterpieces from Rock to soft piano and other songs!

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

Sonic Mania's trailer. Even though I wasn't into the classics, what caught me during that trailer was the level design, and how groovy the music was there. The reaction trailer was even more glorious: To hear everyone give an extra cheer to find out Knuckles was playable in this game...just goes to show how much the other characters are liked so much!

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

Archie Sonic. The post Flynn one. After that reboot, I felt Sonic in this comic has grown a lot better, interacting with the characters, and even being motivative to them (like to Tails when he was depressed over his loss to Honey, or talking to Rotor when finding out his father was an Egg Boss.) It used to be the Modern Sonic version.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

A couple of things: The two games, the Sonic Boom show, the community, the music, and the art. The comics was what inspired me to draw and keep on drawing.

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

  • I've been a Sonic fan for 13 years now. 2004 was the year where my Sonic fandom with one game started which I'll answer in the next question.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

  • My first Sonic game was Sonic Heroes for the OG Xbox. I hold many nostalgic memories with this game as I spent many hours playing through the different levels, playing the multiplayer with family and friends, and listening to the sound test on a relaxing Sunday.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

  • Funny enough, the one thing that actually got me interested in the Sonic series was Sonic X. Back when 4Kids was still around, Sonic X was airing on TV at the time and I guess I really got hooked on the characters and the Adventures that they went on. I watched that anime religiously every Saturday morning when it came on and was saddened when it ended.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

  • Oh... Jeez. That's a tough one. There's the collections(Mega Collection, Gems Collection, Genesis Collection), Mainline games(Adventure-Lost World), Handheld(Rush, Rush Adventure, Rivals 2, Colors DS, Generations 3DS, Lost World 3DS), Spinoffs(All-Stars, Boom, Riders, Chronicles, Storybook games). I have a lot of Sonic games ?

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

  • I guess I can be considered more of a Classic Sonic fan because out of the games I revisit the most, it's the Genesis games. Don't get me wrong, I like Modern Sonic and Modern games, but for me personally, some of them don't have the replay value that the classics have for me.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

  • My favorite Sonic character is of course, Sonic The Hedgehog himself, lol. The reason for him being my favorite character is because of his personality. He has attitude, does things his own way, and is a cool dude overall. I remember as a kid dreaming that I was Sonic, running through the many locations of Sonic's world just exploring and seeing the world. I also find him to be a pretty motivating character with how he views things. Games that come to mind are Sonic Adventure(His Theme song, the character specific wallpaper), The Storybook games, and Unleashed.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

  • My favorite continuity is the SEGA continuity. This is because I've grown up playing the games a lot more than being exposed to the other media. The games, I feel have this wonderful, magical world like Mario where locations have this fantasy-like feel to them, while also having some sort of realism to them like they're actual places. A close second and third respectively would be the OVA universe and Archie Universe.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

  • "What you see is what you get. Just a guy who loves adventure. I'm Sonic The Hedgehog!" - Sonic, Sonic Adventure 2
  • I love this quote because I feel that it perfectly sums up Sonic's character. Sonic is a free spirit who travels the world in search for a new adventure and that aspect of him is why I find him so interesting and my favorite character.

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

  • my favorite story from the games is Sonic Unleashed. It had that perfect balance of light and dark elements that made the story while simple and lighthearted had its serious and tense moments when it reached a point where appropriate. I also loved the theme of friendship that the story had going between Sonic and Chip. It was really touching and the ending song just hit home for me.... man, that was so good and heartwarming.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

  • Sonic The Hedgehog: The Movie (Sonic OVA). Even though, it's basically a very loose adaption of Sonic CD, I loved the OVA because it was an action-packed, fun story that would've made for a rad 90s Sonic anime. Unfortunately, it didn't do so well in Japan.... sooo... yeah. There's that.

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

  • the opening of Sonic Unleashed. That scene is just epic and it still looks beautiful in 2017. Everything about it is just... right and the type of stuff I want to see out of the Sonic series.

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

  • Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Need I say more?

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

  • This changes a lot over the years, so it's not really all that consistent. But as of right now, my favorite vocal Sonic track is "It Doesn't Matter" (SA1 version) and favorite non-vocal track is Windy Valley(Also Adventure 1!)

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

  • I don't really think about the moves all that much tbh. But if I had to pick one, it would be the Spin Dash. It's very satisfying to rev that up to build up speed and let go at the right moment where Sonic would then gain a boost of speed as a ball.

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

  • Sonic Adventure. SA1's soundtrack is very varied in genre and the music is very memorable for me, as well as hosting some of my favorite music in the series.

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

Sonic CD.jpg

The boxart itself is pretty simple, but I love it because of the quote found at the bottom of the logo. "To live a life of power, you must have faith in what you believe is right, even if others tell you you're wrong. The first thing you must do to live a life of power is to find courage. You must be ready to reach beyond the boundaries of Time itself. And to do that, all you need is the will to take that first step."  It's a very powerful and moving message that I would expect to find in a Sonic game, but nevertheless, the quote along is why this is my favorite image. Also I got this image from Google Images.

17. Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

  • My Favorite is the current English cast for the characters as each voice fits the characters to a tee, although I can't help but think of Ryan Drummond and Jason Griffith at times for Sonic. Close second is the Japanese voice cast.

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

  • SEGASonic (Games)

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

  • I guess the Green Hill tropes, lol, sorry. I know those have been done to death. ?

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

  • Seaside Hill (Modern Sonic, Sonic Generations variation)

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

  • 2011 was the most memorable for me. This was Sonic's 20th anniversary and from what I can recall, it was where a lot of Sonic fans, including myself were all happy and excited for Sonic Generations to come out. It was a hugely celebrated year that will always be a shining moment in my books.

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

  • I assume that this is something else entirely different from the games I like from the series. Well, that would be the Archie Sonic comics. These are pretty much the only comic books that I read as I'm not that big on comics books in general, but I really liked the story and characters that made the Archieverse so vast and unique from the games that it always had me wanting more.

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

  • Sonic The Hedgehog(2006). I remember the trailer and being excited for that game, but I didn't have a 360 or PS3 at the time, so I just watched the trailer over and over again because it was that good and hype inducing. Little kid Largo couldn't contain his hype.

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

  • my favorite version of Sonic would be SEGASonic. I really like his character in the games as he is presented as a hero with a cocky attitude, but is loyal to his friends and would always be ready to put a stop to either Eggman or the Monster of the week. Also the games are more standalone Adventures which I find much easier to follow than an ongoing storyline.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

  • What keeps me coming back to the Sonic The Hedgehog series? The simple answer is well... Sonic The Hedgehog himself. The music as well and the games. Every game that gets announced has me stay around to see where the series would go next and the results are often varied which makes things pretty interesting and the discussion can be great as well. Sonic is also my favorite video game franchise of all time, so in addition to the games, comics, TV Shows, music, and the fan community itself, all of that leads me to believe that I don't see myself leaving the Sonic series behind me any time soon.

I think I'm gonna do these in groups of five.

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

Since roughly 2000 - 2002, if not earlier. Wish I had a more specific year in mind, but I was like, 6 - 8 years old.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

Despite me being years late to the party, my first game was Sonic 3 & Knuckles! ...Through the PC version aka Sonic & Knuckles Collection. I've told this story before but: I never actually beat it, because I was a very silly child who didn't know what a spindash was. :|

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Probably one of the cartoons? I vaguely recall seeing Christmas Blast and (ugh) Underground as a kid which may have been before I got S&K Collection.

But to get into what interested me about the franchise, yeah, I was immediately intrigued by the characters and world. It was all so cool to me! Then I played the games and suddenly I was even more invested and, well, here we are 15 years later.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

As far as console games go, I own Sonic Adventure 1, Sonic Adventure 2, Heroes, ShTH, Mega Collection, Gems Collection, the first Riders, Secret Rings, Unleashed (Wii), Colours, Generations, and Lost World. As for handheld games, Advance 1 (+ Pinball Party? I'll count that as a separate game I guess) and 3 (I skipped on 2? for some reason???), Battle, Rush, and Colours (DS).

So that's...18 that I own, 19 if we count S&K Collection but uh.....I have NO clue whatever happened to that disc. I'm so sorry ;_;

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

I don't really have an inherent preference--it's all the same franchise to me. But if I had to choose, I guess I lean towards "Modern"?

Might as well finish this thing. Here we go:

17: Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

Personally, the current one.

18: What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

Don't have one.

19: What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

Hard one for me. Personally, I guess I would say casino/pinball levels.

20: What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

Another hard one for me since there's so many. Is it fair to say Studiopolis even though it's not out yet as one of mine?

21: What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

Honestly, I would say 2016 during the anniversary party, probably because of the atmosphere regarding the new games (Especially Mania)

22: What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Personally, I would say the general fast paced platforming gameplay.

23: What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

Personally, the Sonic Mania trailer. Not just because of how good the game looks but also the excitement when the trailer was released during the anniversary stream.

Edit: Since I originally wrote this, I now have another answer to this. Now, the Sonic Mania pre-order trailer is one of my favorite Sonic trailers mainly because of how good the animation is:

24 :There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

I guess I would say the main SEGA Modern Sonic. I really don't know here.

25: More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

Personally, I would say what keeps me around is both the character of Sonic himself, (I just like the character in general, I like his design and his personality) and I like being in the Sonic community and that mainly includes on here. I don't want to leave here because I would lose the community that I like being in. That's all I have to say here.

Hmm, I guess I'll just do a few at a time.

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

Since early 2006 (February I think), so over 11 years.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

Technically, it was a Tiger Electronics handheld Sonic 1 game my mom got at a garage sale before I was even born. It was fun, but it didn't really get me into Sonic or anything. Still, looking at it gives me nostalgia feels.

tiger-sega-sonic-01.JPG

But the first "real" game would be Sonic Heroes. My sisters and I had just begun to be interested in the franchise, but we didn't own any video game consoles, so I thought that maybe nothing would come of our interest. However, as we were browsing Sonic games on Amazon for fun, we came across a listing for Sonic Heroes for PC! We were totally excited and ordered it right away. I eventually learned there were actually quite a few Sonic games for PC.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

I think there's something about the characters and their designs that's inherently compelling to me. I really love anthropomorphic animals and the Sonic cast members are both stylishly designed and full of personality. In practice, the thing that pushed me to really take an interest in the series is reading a cringy script fanfic on an unrelated message board and then looking up the characters on Google Images...yeah...

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

I will always be just a "Sonic fan" above all, but as time goes on it feels like I'm becoming progressively more cemented as being a primarily a classic fan. The games and overall feel were just a lot more consistent, and consistently good, back then. This goes for gameplay, aesthetics, tone, pretty much everything. Even most of the classic Sonic games that seem mediocre to many (8-bit games, Sonic 3D Blast, etc.) captured a lot of the basics of what a Sonic game should be in regards to the overall gameplay style, aesthetics, etc., which is one reason I like them too and not just the Genesis games.

Also, because of my personal gaming habits (which prompt me to play games in a casual and arcade-like way as opposed to getting invested), I actually have a personal preference games which are shorter and feel smaller. I like just picking up a game and getting as far as I can in it, not really caring too much if I actually finish it. Games which focus more on making progress over the course of multiple days, such as most modern games, don't suit me quite as well.

I've also noticed that, when it comes to character designs, my preference for classic has been progressively growing.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

When I was a kid, I LOVED SatAM, but I just don't seem to care about it that much nowadays. I think part of this has to do with my growing love of the classic games, meaning I wish SatAM had adapted more of their concepts and aesthetics. But I can still look back on this cartoon with fondness and I still love some things about it.

Nowadays, maybe the OVA? I just like how well it captures the aesthetics and feel of Sonic and I enjoy its portrayal of the characters.

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Sonic 1. I think the reason I like it more than the other classic games is that I find the levels to be consistently high-quality throughout the game (yes, even Labyrinth Zone). I just find every single one of them solidly fun in their own way, and relatively close to equally fun.

Finally have enough free time for another round, so let's get back on it!

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

I would say either Sonic, for his trendsetting attitude and blistering speed, or Eggman for his over-the-top hamminess and massive diversity throughout the series, but those are both too cliche', so I'm gonna go with the 'bot who gave me half my username: Metal Sonic!

The idea of a robot copy of the hero is hardly an original one, but I firmly believe Metal is the best one in the history of video games. He's got all of Sonic's abilities in addition to several of his own, he's incredibly badass and intimidating despite almost never talking, and he's just so darn fun to play as in games like Sonic Adventure 2 and All-Stars Racing! (And he's ridiculously OP in the recent Fighters rerelease) And unlike most other iconic robots in the series like Gamma, Eggrobo, and the incredibly overrated Mecha Sonic, Metal survives each and every one of his defeats and always comes back, whether he's smashed into a wall and left to rot on a temporally-desynced planet or smashed to bits by the real superpower of teamwork!

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

At this point, I'd have to go with Post-Reboot Archie, as I feel it's essentially the definitive incarnation at this point- Well-written characters, gorgeous artwork, the perfect blend of action, drama, and comedy, and there are just so many Easter Eggs and nods to the fanbase! In no other iteration of Sonic can you have stories like the Werehog duking it out with Mighty the Armadillo, a Sonic the Fighters adaptation with characters from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, and Sonic teaming up with Mega Man to save their entire multiverses! I really hope the book isn't cancelled, as I don't think we'll ever get a new series quite like it again.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

Surprisingly, this one comes from the Boom TV show- namely, "The Biggest Fan". As Sonic introduces his friend to Mark the Stalker Tapir, he stands up for his creepy obsessions by saying, "He's just a fan. I've got dozens of them! Of course, he's the first one who doesn't criticize everything I do." It's not easy to poke fun at the fanbase without coming off as smug or arrogant (Looking at you, TTG), but this line still cracks me up without feeling insulted because of how true it is!

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

This one has to go to Black Knight. Yes, the motion controls were painful and unnecessary, but the writing was top-notch! Sonic has to collect the Sacred Swords to slay King Arthur, only for Merlina to reveal it was all part of her plan to make the kingdom eternal in order to prevent its inevitable destruction. Throughout the journey, Sonic insists he just does what he thinks is right, even if it means he has to play the bad guy. When Merlina is on the verge of killing him, Sonic insists on continuing the fight, saying that he doesn't care about chivalry- just doing what he's gotta do. And the final battle is incredibly poetic- Merlina wants to force her people into immortality so they don't have to suffer a painful demise; Sonic decides to "save" the kingdom by insuring it will eventually meet its end. Really, neither of them is completely right or wrong, and both of their viewpoints are completely justified. But after Sonic once again comes out of top, he delivers one of the deepest, most eye-opening morals of any video game I've ever played- All things will eventually meet their end, so instead of wishing we could continue on forever, we should focus on making the most out of the time we have.

Need I remind you that this came from a cartoony blue hedgehog that's known for going fast and eating chili dogs?

Black Knight will always remain my candidate for most underrated title of the whole Sonic franchise. Sure, its gameplay wasn't the best, but the narrative more than makes up for it by having plenty of laughs, action, and emotion without coming off as wangsty.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

For the longest time, I thought nothing could top SatAM's dark, action-packed, tense storytelling, but that show was recently dethroned in my book for the newest contender in the world of Sonic: Sonic Boom

As epic as SatAM was, Boom just succeeds more in what it wants to do: Turn Sonic into a slice-of-life comedy while still maintaining the series's action-packed identity! Every episode is loaded with hilarious dialogue and Badnik-smashing adventure! Even the show's duds like Blue With Envy and Just a Guy have some solid hits! And although the redesigns made me raise an eyebrow at first, I've come to love them all. In fact, now I wonder why Knuckles wasn't buff from the very beginning!

Add on a top-notch voice cast and gorgeous animation, and you've got a heck of a gem on your hands! Let's hope the rest of Season 2 continues this winning streak! (And brings back Metal Sonic)

Part 2.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

I;m gonna cheat a little and say that I have two. The first is Blaze the Cat. Her entire demeanor as a character is a nice balance to the other females of the series. Stoic, serious when need be,collected and aware of her duties as protector of the Sol Emeralds are qualities that make her stand out among the gallery of Sonic characters. She also has a unique presence about herself in the fact that she is pryokinetic, and that also tied into her quiet personality. In her debut game she was the perfect foil to Sonic. Not only that, she also had a development arc herself; leaning to be open with others and put a bit more faith in friends' help when needed.

The second character has got to be Metal Sonic. Ok my first actual sight of him was in Heroes (and I know how his role in the game is debatable) but honestly I don't care. He was THE speedy rival to Sonic who could arguably outgun him and dangerous to boot. His design just works-sleek while formidable in combat while being modeled after his namesake. I was so into Metal in Heroes than I wanted more. We didn't get more of him in such an antagonistic role post-Heroes until Sonic 4 Epsiode 2 and then Rise of Lyric but eeh...

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

Archie-post reboot, although I haven't been keeping up and the probable impending doom of the comic aside. The worldbuilding Flynn and his team had to contend with from the whole Penders debacle worked out better than many had hoped and gave many characters, comic and game-alike much needed and breathable likability the games sadly haven't been able to handle. Close second would be OVA though.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

Didn't put much stock into specific quotes that stick with me but I suppose Eggman's 'Away...before I make mincemeat out of you" line is pretty up there.

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

I don't tend to particularly pay much mind to stories in this series buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut...Unleashed I feel had that balance of seriousness and lighthearted adventure that makes for a comfy Sonic game.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

The OVA. Nothing else captures that game-centric magic (even though I'm more Modern than Classic, that's the closest to Classic working there has ever been as far as animation in this series go.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

Blaze, though my answer to this can change on a whim. Almost everyone in the cast has cool designs / concepts, and it's hard for me to pick favourites without much to go off on (especially these days). But Blaze does manage to especially appeal to me, both with a cool design and even a bit of character development.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

I think the OVA's setting is the one that intrigues me the most. But as far as long-form continuities goes, Archie Sonic definitely wins.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

Every single line in this scene (and frankly, both Adventure games, really) is permanently etched into my heart

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

I think I'm going to give it to Sonic Adventure 1. Even with the (understandably) occasionally wonky cutscenes and (much less understandably) questionable translations / voice acting, well...I mean, it says a lot that I still really love the plot and characters despite those issues. It's not perfect but it's a nice foundation for characterization that wasn't really followed up on aside from arguably SA2.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

Probably the OVA (primarily for it's really interesting setting and some really cool moments, also the animation is fantastic) or  AOSTH (it's really really really silly, but in a lovable way). I still have fondness for SATam as well. The others...I'm not really fond of, though X has it's good points.

Ooh, ooh! My turn! I'm doing most of the questions now, but I still need to think about others.

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

Ever since I first played video games. I'd estimate that to have been 8 years ago, so I've been a Sonic fan for 8 years.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

Sonic Heroes, which also was my first video game. Me and my family played this game for hours, attempting to master every part of it. Shame the disc got scratched and no longer operates, but I still have the memories.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

I can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure it was the influence of Sonic X airing on 4 Kids. That, and my brothers being into it.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

Hmm, let's see.... A broken copy of Sonic Heroes, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Sonic Riders, a useless copy of Sonic Runners, and Sonic 4 (both episodes.)

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

Honestly, I've never really separated both Sonics until Sonic Generations came into existence. Mainly because my second and third Sonic games were Sonic 3 and Knuckles and Sonic 1 (both on online emulators.) If I had to pick, Modern due to it being where most of my Sonic experiences are from.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

Main SEGA. I like the balance it takes between being goofy and hilarious to serious and thrilling.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

Jokey: "Find the computer room!" -Vector

Serious: "Do I need a reason to help out a friend?" - Sonic

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. I really love the crazy humor this show brings during each and every episode, even though sometimes it just gets too weird.  And I never would have really watched it if it weren't for @Ryannumber1gamer's stream of the show, so I'd like to thank him.

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Sonic Heroes, mainly because it was my first video game! I love seeing it referenced in later games in the franchise too.

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

Vocal: We Can.

Non-vocal: Hydrocity Act 2

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

Whatever Knuckles' level 3 combo is called in Sonic Heroes. (Volcanic Dunk?) It's just so satisfying to use it and mop the floor with clusters of foes, or devastate an Egg Hammer.

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles. I can vividly recall nearly every zone's track (except Marble Garden)

17. Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

I don't really pay attention to voice acting all that much. I think the current SEGA cast is doing a fine job at the moment, so I guess they're my pick.

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

I've only got one, so I'll just share it. I believe that Rings are naturally occurring resources in Sonic's world, and that there is an entire industry based around grabbing as much of the cash as possible. On top of this, I believe that Rings can enter an semisolid energy state, allowing Rings to fuse together so that they can be carried in greater numbers.

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

Casinos and other fun, bouncy establishments.

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

Casino Park. I just love the bright lights, the cherry music, the multiball pinball tables with slots, the moving and spinning dice platforms, and the rest of the stage's mechanics. (VIP Table is the best) I'm surprised this wasn't the Sonic Generations pick from Sonic Heroes.

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

The crazy thrill ride each game feels like. From bowling through levels in style to escaping from chasing foes, no Sonic game ever feels mundane.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

Everything really. The enjoyable music from every game, the unique locales, the cast of characters, watching Sonic get back to his position as a video game icon.... I could go on for a while but I don't have time.

Part 3 & Knuckles:

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

Unleashed's opening, i simply can't describe it the way it deserves, it should be the opening to the upcoming movie. (still salty it's live action hybrid).

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

This one really fluctuates with me, sometimes i prefer Sonic Unleashed, sometimes Adventure 2, but i usually prefer Adventure 2 a bit more because of the multiple gameplay styles (and playable characters), so i'm going with Adventure 2.

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

Ooohh that's a tough one, for a vocal song, Open Your Heart still gets me as the opening riff starts (and is definetely better than Live & Learn) so i'm going with that, as for instrumental, the theme of sonic colors, no, not "Reach for the Stars", This masterpiece right here:

So much better than Reach for the stars and Speak with Your Heart... i'm not very fond on Colors, but this theme gives me life.

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

The Spin-Dash, as it appeared on the adventure games, it's smooth, gives you momentum, and controls nicely, i hope we see it again someday.

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

Planetary Pieces, with Multi-Dimensional and Digi-Log Conversation being close contenders (doing this one quickly 'cause it hurts to pick one over other, specially among these three...)

Well this took a while! But now I can finally post it.

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

I think this year marks 7 years, wow, it feels so long ago but at the same time I can still remember it like it was yesterday, go figure, my memory is funny like that.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

Shadow the Hedgehog... yeah... It was a horrible place to start and it's hilarious in hindsight, however I guess this is why I have a soft spot for the game, even after becoming completely aware of it's flaws.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Oh it has to be the speed, I'm a bit impatient, especially in videogames, so to have a game that's basically telling you ''go, beat this stage as fast as you can'' really hooked me, especially since they make a spectacle out of how fast you go.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

I'd say around 36? But honestly I think I've only played half of them, having most of the collections does that.

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

I'd say modern, I enjoyed the boost formula, I almost always go back to Colors and Generations, plus the Adventure games, whil I don't play them as much as the others, are still pretty good.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

Dr. Eggman, almost every single incarnation of him are just a joy to watch, his madness and fun personality make for such an amusing character.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

Archie, post reboot to be more specific, if the reboot did any good, was that the comic became closer to the games, and as such, we've got to see Sonic's world FEEL like it was a world, characters coming back, elements from past games being relevant again, almost everyone having something to do or doing their own thing during plots that in the original game, had only Sonic, it makes the cast feel much more alive.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

'' What you see is what you get! Just a guy that loves adventure! I'm Sonic the Hedgehog!''
~Sonic

During SA2, Shadow seemed to be puzzled by how Sonic was able to match him, or how he looked like him, so in this moment he asks what just IS Sonic's deal, what does he want with him and how he can do all the things Shadow can. His answer? That's just who he is, there's nothing special to it, he's just Sonic the Hedgehog, doing his own thing. Probably not the answer Shadow was expecting but no way less effective, as this would humble him later on, realizing that being the Ultimate Lifeform doesn't mean a thing, since others can match him no problem with no special powers or reason, just because they want to.

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

Sonic Unleashed, while the execution could've been better, Sonic's always BEEN about running fast and travelling worlds, so to have an entire game about that, fighting off Eggman around the world, ending with an epic clash in Eggmanland, is basically the perfect story for a game.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

Sonic Boom, without nostalgia goggles, most of the other cartoons suffer a lot with wasted potential and silly concepts, Boom is not immune to those, not at all, but works much better because of the chemestry of the cast, including Eggman.

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

The Sonic Unleashed intro. Need I explain more? That was a massive setpiece, it was like the climax of an unseen adventure, with Sonic and Eggman's characters shinning through the entire thing.

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Sonic Generations, without a doubt, this game has not only the boost formula perfected, but also Classic Sonic coming back and bringing along recreations of so many past stages, remixes of some of my favorite songs, and new takes on old level tropes, it's a big love letter for the fanbase.

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

Vocal I'd go with the one I bet most would, Live and Learn, I can't help it, the song is pure hype. And speaking of pure hype, Nega Wisp Armor Phase 2, it's so dramatic, but inspiring at the same time, it's one of my favorite boss themes ever.

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

Knuckles' wall climbing. While slow, it opens up so many routes on the stages, plus it can save you from dange sometimes.

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

Sonic Generation's OST. It has almost no new songs, yes, but it has some of the best remixes in the entire franchise, plus a lot of extra tracks.

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

https://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/sonic/images/e/ee/Triple_Sonic_Generations.png/revision/latest?cb=20160525205807

This, from the Sonic Channel's artworks. It's just a really good looking art, you know? Puts a bit of perspective on the different incarnations of Sonic, plus Boom Sonic in this art style looks really cool.

17. Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

The ones introduced in Colors, they all seem to fit their characters perfectly, save for one or two bad match ups

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

Shadow being based on the Angel Island paintings of Super Sonic. It's a bit outlandish, but it's such an interesting way of connecting Sonic to Shadow's origin, while also explaining why they're similar looking.

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

The Eggman Base levels, Scrap Brain, Metropolis, Final Fortress, the likes, while not as fun to play as some other places, they more than make up for it with the great songs and most of the time, climactic feel of the finale approaching.

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

City Escape, a great way to begin a game, the city looks great, the sense of speed really feels like it's a chase, the music sets the tone for the entire game, and the chase at the end just seals the deal by being over the top but also awesome.

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

2011, the year Sonic Generations was announced. The sheer hype, inside and outside the fanbase, every small reveal being so well received and treated, the community being almost entirely positive for an entire year just hyped and happy about the 20 years of Sonic. It was a great time to be a Sonic Fan.

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

The music, holy crap, the different genres it can have, from bloodpumping rock to chill jazz, the fact it's always consistently great, and how it works so well for the character and the variety of his adventures.

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

The Sonic Generations reveal trailer, again, the hype and positivity was overwhelming.

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

Black knight!Sonic has to be one of his best interpretations, from the get go, he's going against the Kingdom and being considered a villain, but he doesn't mind since he's doing what he feels is right, he's not giving up even when he's about to die to the Dark Queen, and once it's all said and done, what does he do to Merlina, after she betrayed and attempted to kill him? He just forgives her and gives her an important, if not actually pretty deep life lesson, one that justifies his entire personality and attitude, life is short, so we need to make the most of what we got, that's why he's always running and trying to see and enjoy everything he can.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

The Potential the series still has, I'll probably stick around with it for a pretty good while to see where it'll go and if it can reach said untapped potential, maybe with Forces, maybe with Mania, or maybe just a new direction.

Got sidetracked, but I finished another five.

Part II: I Really Like Archie Sonic, Okay?

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

I like most Sonic characters, but sometimes it depends on my mood, so I’m going with:

Shadow_Profile.jpg

Shadow the Hedgehog. He’s a cool character, and I appreciate when he’s handled well. I especially love how he can be written serious but also have an air of cockiness to him that rivals Sonic, making him a perfect foil to Sonic, all while maintaining a spirit of mutual respect and friendly competition (albeit probably begrudging at times). I also like how, when a story allows it, his camaraderie with his teammates, Rouge and Omega, really comes through.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

Archie, hands down.

I like aspects of other universes, mostly the games, but the comic, across its two continuities, has always been special to me. I suppose part of my attachment is due to growing up with it and seeing much of what it’s been through (though I admit there was a brief time I quit reading it because the stories just weren’t interesting at the time), but I also think when Ian Flynn came onboard by reevaluating the series, its (many) characters in relation to the SEGA cast and managing to salvage and tie together much of the continuity and give a stronger presence to game elements without forgetting the comic’s roots. He also gave new roles and purposes to many of the book’s supporting cast, making many of them who were either forgettable (or in some cases just plain annoying) into much more likeable and interesting characters than they were previously.

The rebooted continuity was the result of a bitter legal battle that left much of the book’s contents out of reach, but I have loved how it took the games’ settings and rebuilt the world to give a stronger sense of continuity to a setting that changed at the whims of whatever Sonic Team feels like doing. It also gave more prominence to the often ignored supporting game cast who feel much more fleshed out than they’ve ever been. It’s also great that characters like the Freedom Fighters have been able to live on with brand new designs and streamlined histories, as well as a slew of great new original characters that make Sonic’s world feel more lived in because they inadvertently have to deal with Sonic and Eggman’s never-ending conflict, too.

(plzdontbecancelled)

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

One that comes to mind was from the Dark Queen battle in Sonic and the Black Knight where Sonic says: “It’s not going to end. My story only ends when I stop running!”

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

Games-wise, I’m still quite fond of the Adventure games’ storylines as well as Sonic and the Black Knight and Unleashed. I feel these games best represent the sort of tone I’d like to see with Sonic, being adventurous and giving the player a sense of urgency, but still with plenty of room for levity and fun character interactions which, to me, make it easier to get invested in the series (and are a large reason I love it in the first place!).

And then there’s the comic (thoughts spoilered for length)…:

“Ring of Truth” (Sonic #35)

STH35.jpg

Spoiler

As far as early Archie stories goes, this one by Mike Gallagher has always stood out as a favorite of mine for some reason. Sonic collects his one billionth (!!!) ring and is whisked off to another dimension, where he is greeted by the Ancient Walkers, Mobian dinosaurs wearing tribal masks, who put him through some brief trials and offer him riddles which give him the idea that Rings and Chaos Emeralds are connected and are the key to defeating Robotnik and saving the planet.

It’s such a weirdly charming story, with some of Gallagher’s signature cheesy dialogue and Dave Manak’s expressive cartoony style, and I liked how it provided some lore behind some of the game elements and incorporated them into the comic world. It’s a bit of a shame that creative differences and a lack of editorial guidance prevented this from developing. This story was also used as inspiration for the ninth Archive collection, and it’s easily one of my favorite Spaz pieces.

“Rites of Passage” (Knuckles mini-series #1-3) –

Knuckles_miniseries01.jpg

Spoiler

I might give Ken Penders a lot of crap, but I have to say I like his earlier stories written with Mike Kanterovich. While nothing Ken wanted to do with Knuckles really gelled with SEGA’s vision, I didn’t really care when I was a kid. As an adult, I can still appreciate the lore and the ideas he had in mind in spite of the poor execution or knowing much of it would be undermined later on when he shoved Echidnas everywhere.

What I like about this mini-series, and by extension the long-running back-up stories in the main Sonic book which set this up, was how Knuckles, at the time, was still being billed as alone and possibly the last of his kind (though it’s revealed his father, Locke, has been watching him from the shadows for many years). I liked how those stories showed what seemed to be the downfall of their kind (messing with Chaos energy, isolating themselves on a floating island) and how Knuckles was learning lessons from thinking about his history and training with his father. I liked the idea of Enerjak also being one of the only other Echidnas at the time, making him the perfect adversary for Knuckles.

“Father and Son” (Sonic #192) –

STH192.jpg

Spoiler

Scourge the Hedgehog is a character I never really thought I’d like (and ultimately be one of characters from the old continuity I miss the most). I remember when he was just “Evil Sonic,” a pathetic excuse for a villain with no real character. It was surprising when Ian Flynn gave him a makeover and upgraded him into a much bigger threat. It worked a lot better than I expected.

“Bold New Moebius” as a whole gives Scourge a huge spotlight and shows what makes him tick, and how he’s more than just Sonic’s evil twin from a parallel universe. All he wants is recognition. “Father and Son” is one of my favorite stories from that run because it takes an incredibly shallow concept like “Evil Mobius” (which Scourge rechristened “Moebius” when he conquered it, along with forcing everyone there to take on new names and appearances) and makes it more than just the “evil counterpart” world. Rather, it’s a world where events played out a little differently from Sonic’s prime universe and had adverse effects on it as a result. This is something that’s called back to constantly in the bigger arc, but here we get some insight into the world’s history, as well as Scourge’s backstory and why he’s got such a chip on his shoulder. It also serves as a great character moment for Sonic’s father, Jules, who stands up to Scourge and forces him to retreat without breaking out into a fight.

“Forged in Fire” (Sonic Universe #50) –

SU_50.jpg

Spoiler

Sonic Universe’s second milestone issue, and the penultimate issue of the original Archie continuity, remains one of my favorite issues of the entire comic’s run. It spotlights Shard, a rebuilt and repurposed Metal Sonic who now works as a secret agent for the Kingdom of Acorn. It’s an issue that feels like the creative team was firing on all cylinders despite it likely being hastily done in response to the legal battle with Ken Penders (issue 50 was originally supposed to be a Sonic Underground epilogue). Yardley’s artwork is fantastic, especially during Shard’s and Metal Sonic’s huge running battle.

It’s a really bittersweet issue, not only for the fate of Shard (who may have “died” after Metal Sonic self-destructed to defeat him), but because soon, following a four-month break for the first Mega Man crossover, the entire original continuity would follow suit (though Shard, in a way, lives on seeing as how Gemerl seems to share a lot of his personality).

Let me tell you, it was tough saying goodbye.

“Control” (Sonic #264-265) –

STH_264.jpg

Spoiler

After about a year of build-up, Sonic the Werehog had finally made an appearance in the Archie comic. And what an entrance at that! After several issues of close calls and Sonic suppressing the Dark Gaia energy that he accidentally absorbed at the beginning of the reboot, he loses control when Egg Boss Thunderbolt harms his friends. At first, his mind is clouded by Dark Gaia, which influences him to see everyone as enemies, leading to a huge throw down with Mighty the Armadillo. Eventually he, Sally, Amy, and Ray manage to calm Sonic down, who looks on at the destruction he caused with a feeling of shame and he decides to take responsibility and train to control his new power so he doesn’t risk hurting anyone.

While I like the Werehog concept, it was always a bit underwhelming in the games being nothing but a transformation and not really affecting Sonic’s personality in any way. Here, Sonic is presented with a struggle (however brief—he’s a fast learner!), making the transition a little more realistic and giving him a little bit of development. It all aligns with how it appears in the game really quickly.

“Total Eclipse” (Sonic Universe #67-70)

SU_68.jpg

Spoiler

The conclusion of the “Dark Trilogy” storyline. I LOVE this story and it’s easily one of the best of reboot era. Knuckles’s characterization feels like an extension of his portrayals from the Adventures: a fairly easy-going guy who really only cares about his duty of guarding the Master Emerald and Angel Island, but also realizing that he can’t really avoid the troubles down below, as they always find a way back to his home. We’re treated to so much continuity from the games, tying in so many Knuckles specific events from throughout his history and showing how it’s made him who he is and how he won’t give up come hell or high water. It’s actually really interesting seeing Knuckles interact with Team Dark in general, treating them with a sense of distrust. Knuckles and Shadow coming to blows makes for an awesome match up, with the two being just about evenly matched. It’s too bad their combined stubbornness gets the M.E. stolen and their friends seriously injured and Knuckles was forced to shatter it and send the pieces away. They really should have just focused all that anger on Eclipse.

I’ve also appreciated revisiting several zones from the games (even multiplayer zones!) and giving a better sense of what Angel Island is like. There’s even Flying Battery wreckage on the Island (this was seen in the previous arc)! We even get subtle hints about Sonic Chronicles (oh, Ian, always looking for ways around those mandates), based on the command hub which Knuckles actually uses to control the Island’s various traps. It’s just fantastic how much attention to detail was put into developing Angel Island.

“Champions” (Sonic #268-271) –

STH_268.jpg

Spoiler

And, now, a fun one. I have to say I’d never have expected a Sonic the Fighters adaptation in the middle of an Unleashed arc! What’s more we are reintroduced to the AoStH crew, with Breezie returning as a media mogul and having hired/repurposed several Badniks, including Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts, to work in her casino. It’s hilarious how transparently they’d repurposed Mammoth Mogul’s role and assigned it to Breezie, but it works!

The story is much lighter than the others, but like previous arcs, there’s some fun character interactions, tons of callbacks and tie-ins (Breezie’s backstory is heavily connected to the 8-bit Sonic 2’s story here, and Metal Sonic gives her Casino Park to manage in exchange for luring Sonic into his trap in Sonic Heroes), and we even see Honey the Cat get a recurring role. The various tournament rounds are well staged and include tons of fun interactions and match-ups (stand outs are probably Espio vs. Bean, Knuckles vs. Nack, and Sonic vs. Knuckles). We also see Tails get some shine.

There's so many others, I think, but these stories are some of the highlights of the entire run for me.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

I don't have a particular favorite, to be honest. Most of them I either watched when I was young and don't remember them as strongly or others that I do remember when I was older but I don't like them much. Though I will say I recently saw some episodes of the Saturday morning TV series and I thought it held up pretty well. It also helps that the Archie comic was something of a spiritual successor to that show, as it started out as a loose adaptation of both it and the weekday Adventures of Sonic show and has been a means of allowing characters like the Freedom Fighters to live on.

(sorry if the comic covers are a bit excessive, I can remove them later if they're causing problems)

Alright- Time for Round 3 & Knuckles!

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

As disappointing as Sonic 4 was, I absolutely loved the build-up in Episode II: Throughout the game, you get the impression that Eggman's planning something huge behind the scenes (Unless the twist was spoiled for you, too)- From the very beginning of Sonic 4, Eggman's goal wasn't necessarily to get rid of Sonic, but to stall him; everything he's done up to this point- "Upgrading" his Badniks, reviving Metal Sonic, building bases and combat mechs- was all just to keep you occupied long enough for his master plan to come to fruition. And once you defeat Metal Sonic in Sky Fortress, you chase the baddies into space and see it- Little Planet has been turned into the second Death Egg!

The first space station was intimidating enough, but this one has the entirety of Sonic CD's setting as its core! It's a shame 4 ended up getting scrapped prematurely, because I would've loved to see what Eggman was planning to do with this new planet-sized base!

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Ooh, this is a toughie... You know what? I'm gonna go with the only 3D game that I felt was rock-solid from beginning to end: Generations! Everything about this title was a love-letter to the fans (Except the story)- Remastered levels, upgraded bosses, an incredible soundtrack, and two Sonics that harness the true essence of what it means to go fast! Add on several Easter Eggs, unlockables like concept art and music, and so many cool customizable moves and missions, and you've got the birthday present Sonic desperately needed!

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

My choice for vocal might seem a bit odd, but I'm standing by my belief that this is the true main theme of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise:

Spoiler

This song captures everything that makes Sonic who he is: He's cocky, he's fearless, he's ludicrously fast, and above all, he's a hero!

If Crush 40 or any of the modern Sonic musicians did a cover of this theme, I would buy it twenty times.

As for non-vocal, Every rendition of Aquarium Park from Sonic Colors! This Zone is not only my favorite post-Genesis level in all of Sonic, but its music sounds so serene and energetic at the same time! I always look forward to revisiting Colors for this music alone!

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

This is generalizing a bit, but any flying/hovering/gliding maneuver in the series! My preferred characters in platformers are those who have a bit more oomph to their jump. Whether I'm utterly breaking Windy Valley by flying over the whole track as Tails, rapidly dropping down a pit as Gamma, stopping every few seconds to rack up targets for a massive point bonus, or calmly cruising over Speed Highway at dawn as Nerples the Echy'dnya, looking for his precious Emerwoooolds, I'm happy as long as I can stay in the air a little bit longer!

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

tumblr_inline_mj65u44LF01qz4rgp.png

You're really twisting my arm, Kiah.

I'd give this one to Generations, as well, but I feel that wouldn't be fair, seeing as most of its tracks are remixes. So this award goes to Sonic Heroes

tumblr_m85e0xJ6CZ1rqfhi2o1_500.gif

Yeah, I like Heroes. Get at me.

As said last time, Heroes is the game that got me into the series, and that was in no small part thanks to incredible tracks like the tropical Seaside Hill, the tense Bingo Highway, and the absolutely metal Egg Fleet! To be honest, I can't think of a single track from that game I don't like. Even Follow Me has become a guilty pleasure, even if it's the only Team theme that's not about the team. Amy, you selfish brat.

Part 4:

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

The 4 connecting covers from the "Countdown to Chaos" arc, the one that kicked off the reboot: (source)

tumblr_static_countdown_to_chaos.thumb.jpg.83c9f4147b724de45c2a439ed5a60c9c.jpg

I have it on my bedroom's wall no less, i freakin' love it!!!

17. Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

I really like the current one, i had some complains about Amy's but she improved over time, i think it fits well with the characters. (and please don't let ANYONE but Mike Pollock be the voice of Eggman, that's perfection)

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

sonally is and always will be a standard headcannon for me, with that in mind, i've chosen another one:

The prophecy hanging on the walls of Hidden Palace were not depicting Doomsday Zone, but the end of worlds collide.

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

i was going to start the answer on why i like space station-esque levels, but then i remembered another one, Ruins, the feeling of exploration and adventure it gives is nice and something we have not seen for a while in the games.

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

Oh, a single level, that's evil, but to choose a single level i'm going with Apotos (or windmill isle), it's not the usual first level, but it makes you feel welcome, and leads the way to the adventure that awaits you, and the presentation really helps, from the design to the music blending with the atmosphere. (also its a level we can "visit" IRL, and i plan to do so, someday... one day...)
